I watched every game he managed at Celtic, and he's the only coach in any sport ever that I'm excited to watch his press conferences. He's so impressive, wish him nothing but success.
Ange’s success is no surprise to any of us in Australia. Not only are his teams successful, they are a joy to watch too. I see nothing but success for Spurs as long as they give him time. It’s a very well researched video - well done.
A fabulous summary of Ange’s formative years, experience and ethos. Just one point, easily overlooked. Ange was injured at 27 and had to stop as a player. He took a while to reflect and even worked for a while in a bank branch. Only then did he resolve, bugger this, it’s coaching or nothing.
Mate, you never referenced Hungary's Ference Puskas - one of the greatest footballers ever who was Ange Postecoglou's mentor and inspiration. Also probably worth noting that Ange's skill is taking underperforming teams and making them play amazing football. Brisbane Roar were a disfunctional home for boozing ex-Socceroos (Australian National Team) before Ange cleaned them out and Roarcelona broke all records. Yokahama F Marinos were constantly in the lower half of the J-League before Ange. Celtic have the biggest budget of any Scottish club but had finished ten points behind Rangers the season before Ange. There will be ups and down for Tottenham before Ange's playing style is fulling integrated, but a little patience will see them do amazingly. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it.
he came in to celtic, basically brought in a brand new first 11 and got them to win a league title back from a Rangers side that had went invincible the year before and that got to a European final. I don't think many people outside of celtic know just how much of a shambles the squad was when Neil Lennon got the sack, he'd wrecked us. It was embaressing. Ange took us from the worst place we'd been in a decade and gave us the best football we've seen since Martin O'neill. I don't like Spurs but I'll be watching them for Ange, and you're lucky to have him.
Celtic has heart. Tottenham's big problem has always been that it has no heart. Can Postecoglou enrage a lion which has no heart? Mourinho couldn't, Tottenham will probably be his poisoned chalice.

Good summarisation of Ange & what many don’t understand is Ange was always preparing for the EPL. As he was part of the Man City Group when he was in Japan as Manager of Yokohama Marinos (Man City has a large stake ownership) Man City were preparing Ange as the heir to Pep Guardiola, then with the sacking of Conte Tottenham hired Scott Munn who like Ange was part of the City Group as Chief of Asia operations & with Munn having a strong relationship with Ange having previously worked in the A-League & National Teams Munn clearly encouraged Levy to appoint Ange, so it was all in the pipe works, City Groups loss is Tottenhams gain.
What you politely left out is , if he does well with Spurs . He builds his portfolio to move to city if the need was to arise . Spurs cant win the EPL , but they might just snare something domestic . Incredible how wealth generating equity firms also use the same formula with there top line personal .
What a fair, well researched and open minded presentation! Thank you. As an Aussie of mixed ancestry, I relate well to the challenges faced by him and his family, migrating to a totally foreign country. Ange's accomplishments go beyond the football field. I love him dearly for his humbleness, combined with his passion for the game to be played his way, support for the underdog, and quick dismissal of undesirables. This is all in pursuit of the common goal of fans, club, players. Go you good thing Ange!
Fantastic video, I too, a spurs fan like you knew nothing about Ange, and wanted Nagelsmann at the time. After being at our first home match vs ManU, I am fully invested in Ange’s playing style, and I don’t think there’s anyone better out there for the job of Spurs manager currently. Ange Postecoglou Allez!
He's a phenomenal coach. Totally gutted he left Celtic but after delivering us two years of trophies I couldn't begrudge him leaving. I laughed at some YT 'pundits' who scoffed at his Tottenham appointment. Guaranteed this guy will win trophies for Spurs. And his football is glorious.
As an Argentine and spurs fan I wanted Poch to get back to the club. But I'm starting to like Postecoglou. I heard him speak in a conference a few days ago and I liked his personality very much, he seemed very involved in the conversation, unlike most managers who usually just say mostly generic stuff that is expected from them in a conference. He has a different type of personality, very calm and engaged.

Nikola Jokic springs to mind when you talk about a player who "doesn't fit the mould" yet absolutely dominated the league and won a title within his first few years of playing NBA. Long may Ange's reign continue. As an Aussie who's watched him grow, develop and absolutely destroy my home club for years before taking on the footballing world, I'm extremely proud of what he's doing. He's one of quite a few domestic managers here in Australia that are breaking the mould of managers who think outside of the box and create beautiful football styles of play, all whilst having travelled the "road less taken." Hopefully he'll help bring more eyes on our domestic product, for both our players and managers, and eventually, our football code as a whole.
Ange is responsible for the Roar selling out a 52 000 seat Rugby League stadium in a Rugby League city while managing the Roar. A truly momentous achievement
Feels kind of crazy that that ever happened these days. I'm hoping that the second division with all its Queensland teams will actually get off the ground and work, in large part because it's the only way I see it happening again anytime soon.
He took the a league to the next level although I think that evolution has slowed. We need more people like him to stay in Australia and push the game forward. A true manager.
We haven't seen anything like Anges Roar in the A league since. Maybe Adelaide in 15-16 under Amor but it was only 1 season. I remember watching the Roar and thinking that team could cut it in Europe haha
Look to be honest Brisbane is such a fickle sporting city that any team winning will sell out and as soon as those results drop nobody is interested in them any more. Look at the QLD Reds in 2011 and 2021, the roar through those years when we were actually good, the lions when that lot are winning, etc.
I'm an Aussie and was a big Brisbane Roar fan back during their golden era under Postecoglou. Nothing makes me prouder than to see him finally get the recognition he deserves. I'm a massive Liverpool supporter but will definitely be rooting for Spurs to do well (just not against Liverpool) over the next few years under Big Ange.
Ange, and many Australian football products, have been victims of the notion that 'well they aren't a big footballing nation, so they can't produce quality'. Been fortunate to follow him for over a decade, since he led my local Aussie team to victory, twice. Man's top notch.
I think a lot of times the rest of the world overlook the fact that while Australia is not a big footballing nation, they are a big coaching nation - Australia has always produces decent coaches in all sorts of sports because of their sporting culture and sports science programs
@@ayrtonpietrobelli6972 suggest you do some research mate. Football has higher participation than AFL and rugby. The issue in this country is the administration of the sport, and the complete lack of funding from govt. Many football fans see A-league as a joke and would rather pay out the ass for subscriptions for the big 5 leagues - yet the socceroos (almost all of which are A-league products) certainly exceeded expectations. Poor management, lack of funding, and decades of AU MSM weaponising the passion that you dont see in other codes to protect their interests in other codes (which are not widely played internationally, do not compete with football in terms of participation - yet the media remains obsessed and the govt will through many times more $$$ at AFL and NRL instead of Football.)

I’m like you; an American who came to following the game later in life, as well as latching onto Spurs (my sister in law is a life long fan, so I sorta went that way because of her) right when they lost their best player, Bale. Loved this video! Sent it to my bro’s wife so we can all take in the Ange Love.
that first sentence really hit. i love this team way too much. there should be research being done into how tottenham fans are able to keep supporting this club. There’s just something about it.
Angeball is so, so much more than tactics. Brisbane Roar under Ange were scintillating. Big Ange delivered Australia an Asian Cup, that's part of the reason why we love him.
As an Australian Tottenham fan I have a lot of love for this, any real Australian soccer (football) fan knows very well what ange is capable of. He represents exactly what the Australian sport mentality is, this is not to be taken for granted the proof is in Australia having respectable results in any sport we compete in. Regardless of what silver we may or may not win ange will leave a lasting effect on the club and players even if it only last for one season. I have 100% faith in ange he will give Tottenham something very special at the end of it all.
We have our Tottenham back thanks to Ange. Looking forward to every game now whereas under Mourinho and Conte, I often avoided watching games as not to ruin my weekend. With Ange-ball, the style is so pleasing, the results matters less. Even after three league games, I'm confident to say this is the best football we've seen from Spurs since peak Pochettino.
I came to Australia and started my admiration for this man during his Roar years, where when the quality of the squad would allow, it almost looked like they were playing a different sport when compared to the other clubs. Then in his tenure for the Socceroos, he got a below-average generation of players to force Spain and Netherlands to have to give it all to defeat them, and also won the Asian Cup. To be honest, most of the criticism I could hear was from people that had no touch with reality nor understood the sport. What he did with the Socceroos was a MIRACLE, and probably his most impressive job. If you wish to understand it, checkout the Socceroos numbers since he left.
Well researched, I’m a Aussie, and live in Brisbane so saw him manage first hand. I am also a longtime Spurs fan and he will do great things given the chance. COYS
I argued with Celtic supporters for days after his appointment trying to convince them they landed someone special. Same thing happened with spurs. Glad to see he's getting the recognition he deserves.
Couldn't agree more with this assessment of Ange; absolutely gutted he left Celtic - he was a phenomenal manager but an even better person. A shining example of management and leadership across any industry!
Great overview. Thank you for condensing Ange’s past exploits and methodology in a way that’s easy to share with folks that might still be on the fence. Really looking forward to many years with Big Ange. Up the Spurs!
Ange got the job at Brisbane Roar after the previous coach was done for drink driving on the way to training and sacked. If not for a random breath test, we may never have heard of Ange-ball.
I'm in Melbourne Australia and have watched him play and coach the game. He is the real thing but we're from Melbourne even below down under so Europe would not look twice at such a person, that's why it's taken him so long or its taken the rest of the world so long to sit up and take notice.
A friend asked me who I wanted to replace Conte when that thing happened and I said Postecoglou purely based on how Australia played under him and how good Celtic looked in the CL against teams you'd think would demolish them. I never thought it would actually happen. Gotta love his style of football and he can do wonders with Tottenham.
Fun fact: when Ange won Asian Cup 2015 wirh Australia, his side played against Korea. Son, his current Spurs captain, was at that match playing for Korea and scored a goal against Ange's side. Son & Ange have met before; it seems destined for the reunion. What a miraculous world we live in.
It’s rare to have a manager ascend to top tier management through merit alone. Restores faith that appointments can still have merit and top clubs don’t gatekeep themselves from ~30 managers.
Love Ang's honesty! Bringing a bit of fresh air to football. I am an Aussie that now has a second side in SPURS and hope he guides them to a Dream, Chelsea fan.
I’m not surprised it’s taken so long for Ange to manage in Europe given Australia is a soccer minnow, you have to work your way through the leagues and build reputational currency - it’s not an overnight trip, it’s a long and arduous journey. Well done Ange.
Great stuff. As your friendly neighborhood Arsenal fan, this is the first manager since Poch that has me even remotely concerned. Hopefully Levy & Co gives him time to shine.
Ange is a king, not a fan of Tottenham but as an Aussie would love to see them do really well, even as a Manchester United fan I wasn’t too upset when their lot beat us last weekend cos it means Ange will hopefully get more of a shot
Interesting fact, did you know that was actually his 2nd game against man utd? He coached South Melbourne against sir Alex and the legendary treble winning team at the club world cup in 2000
So well written and presented - kudos to you Also a hardcore Spurs supporter and never have I been more excited at the football we are playing right now under Ange !
Loved the way you have looked widely about a person who could have easily have been overlooked. Great insight! As an Aussie I followed Chelsea after living in London a few years back. But I'm off that bandwagon go you Spurs!!!!!!!
Man I just found your channel and you definitely deserve more love, your editing and storytelling are great and the way you articulate the narrative about sports makes it super interesting, I’m definitely subscribing now
Unbelievable achievement by the humble Australian manager Angie Postecoglou Having watched him bloom since he was 8, we all have to say thank goodness the 2 years at Celtic got him great exposure. His man management and ability to identify a player’s potential to perform at a level makes him arguably the best at this in the world! So thanks to his very astute manager, he found two big big clubs with FAT cheque books! And the journey has really only just begun at this level Go Angie
One of the best of many Spurs/Ange related channels/blogs etc I've watched recently. Super well produced and thought out. I will be following Spurs and Ange from here in Oz (we love our Big Ange here in Australia), and you get a sub. You should have way more than 10k - that's how good the quality of this video was. Subbed and liked.
I am an American Spurs supporter since 2018 and man has it been difficult. I half-wished that I saw more of Pochettino when he was still around and considered switching clubs multiple times under the cycle of managers we've had after Pochettino. I'm looking forward to the future and appreciated what I've been through with Spurs :p (at least I didn't support Leicester, since I flipped flopped between the two when I was getting into the PL). I also knew that Maddison was a hell of a player way back then too (ever since he transferred to Leicester from Norwich City).
Thank you SotG for this excellent look back at our new manager. Will he turn out to be one of Levy's very rare great football decisions? Because a lot of us fans feel he will be the Spurs manager who exudes our club motto 'TO DARE IS TO DO' - COYS!!
Good video and I hope he is the future of Football. A lot of people were wondering about the age of Ange Postecoglou and why he isn't managed in Europe. The issue here is that although with globalism that people can accept that there could be "wonderkids" in terms of players anywhere in the world and not just from European/South America and it is possible for a talented player to pick up in europe (for example Soloman Island's Raphael Lea'i is now having an opportunity of performing in europe in Bosnia and he can work himself up from that level). in terms of coaching it is still very much European/South American-centric and the belief that the coaching equivalent of "wonderkid" doesn't exist outside those continent. If you are a coaching virtuoso and a future Guardiola born in Europe, you can start at a lower league and if succeed get picked up at higher levels until you are coaching at the highest level. the same talented coach born in Australia, if you dominate the NSL or A-league which Ange did with South Melbourne and Brisbane Roar, that's it there is no obvious progression to a higher level because of the prevalent attitude that the only talented coach exist in South-America/Europe, you can't even get a foot at the door in Europe even in the lower leagues. This is compounded that the AFC coaching badge is not recognize in Europe and therefore Ange actually needed exemption from UEFA to even coach at Celtic. Greek clubs and English Championship clubs rejected Ange when he was coaching in Japan. From my point of view following his career, Ange was ready for the premier league right back at the Brisbane Roar success because and this isn't due to the results but by observing the way his team is playing by his ability to coach tiki taka football with players of low technical quality. However he had to jump through more hoops to get at Tottenham and there was no natural progression for Ange to progress from the A-league.
I like to use the analogy of North and Central American, African and Asian managers when discussing Ange's impact on the game. Postecoglou has proven that you don't need to be from a European or South American nation in order to succeed at the top of the game. I'm sure there's plenty of managers, young and not-so-young, in Japan, South Africa, Honduras, Canada, Vietnam etc. being inspired by the Tottenham boss.
Australia is a very unique sporting market. Rugby League and Aussie rules take up basically all the elite athletic talent of the country, leaving soccer and a few more amateurish sports to be left for the rest.
I’m a Celtic supporter who supports Arsenal in the EPL and I’m filled with great sadness every time I watch Spurs this year. Congrats to you, you’ve got a good one
Hope Ange is a success at Spurs, if he isn't blame the board. As a Rangers fan I don't want him back at Celtic. 😉He would be welcomed with open arms by all Celtic fans, unlike Brendan Rodgers.
and while Celtic have had the upper hand in Scotland for, well, a LONG time, when Ange took over at Celtic they had just lost the league by 25 points. He didn't get airdropped into a good situation.
he's the best, man. It's one thing to feel like your club is headed in a decent direction football-wise, but having someone like him at the head of it makes bad results seem like not that big of a deal
watching this to basically figure out Tottenham this season. ive always loved big personalities as coaches from mourinho, wenger, carlo, simeone and now him. honestly i havent come across anything that paints this guy in a bad light and i wish he can guide his team to success
there is so much money involved at these levels of the sport, its a huge risk to get some wild card underdog (which makes a great sports movie, sure. and a legendary tale for the history books IF they succeed. BIG if). i think its quite understandable that thats not often the case, and when it happens that they were not the first choice to begin with
I think Tottenham began to turn it around when Ange wrote the word BELIEVE on a piece of cardboard and hung it up right above the exit to their dressing room.
I watched every game he managed at Celtic, and he's the only coach in any sport ever that I'm excited to watch his press conferences. He's so impressive, wish him nothing but success.

To be honest, most of the criticism I could hear was from people that had no touch with reality nor understood the sport. What he did with the Socceroos was a MIRACLE, and probably his most impressive job. If you wish to understand it, checkout the Socceroos numbers since he left.
As a United fan, I can’t help but find Ange’s Spurs exciting. I’ll be silently rooting for Ange and Spurs this season.
Not a United fan
@@marknewbold2583
Do you think that because the only United fans you know are one eyed morons?
Great work producing this video. Very well put together 👍👍
Angeball causing complete angemonium is great postecontent.
Up the Spurs!
i miss him at celtic so much. Enjoy him with spurs!
Ange got the job at Brisbane Roar after the previous coach was done for drink driving on the way to training and sacked. If not for a random breath test, we may never have heard of Ange-ball.
Holy shit, those motivational speeches are BETTER than what you get from the best of Hollywood, even without context. That's impressive.
Spurs have been my worst best friend since 2015. I understand how you feel with our relationship to the club
big ange has actually made our games fun to watch. haven't felt this way since the last year at the lane
I'm in Melbourne Australia and have watched him play and coach the game. He is the real thing but we're from Melbourne even below down under so Europe would not look twice at such a person, that's why it's taken him so long or its taken the rest of the world so long to sit up and take notice.
Ange is an Aussie sportsman at heart managing at an elite level so you're guaranteed absolute dedication to perform and win
To understand Postecoglou,
it is worth reading about the influence the Hungarian/ International player/coach
Ferenc Puskas had on him.
If you like Ange then look up Australian Rules Football coach Craig McRae's press conferences.
Thank you for not only a great video, but one that is so inspired me to keep going in my life and the things that I do.
I really don’t lie spurs. It’s almost hate. But I like this man, I now respect spurs and wish this guy all the best. From a Chelsea fan
Not a Chelsea fan
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Love Ang's honesty! Bringing a bit of fresh air to football.
I am an Aussie that now has a second side in SPURS and hope he guides them to a Dream,
Chelsea fan.
Brisbane Roar supporter here. Great video. Enjoyed that. 2011 final one of the best games ever. Semi final also up there
Ange is a king, not a fan of Tottenham but as an Aussie would love to see them do really well, even as a Manchester United fan I wasn’t too upset when their lot beat us last weekend cos it means Ange will hopefully get more of a shot
Interesting fact, did you know that was actually his 2nd game against man utd? He coached South Melbourne against sir Alex and the legendary treble winning team at the club world cup in 2000
So well written and presented - kudos to you
Also a hardcore Spurs supporter and never have I been more excited at the football we are playing right now under Ange !
4 years guys we got him for 4 years and we just beat man utd in our 2nd game of Big Ange Ball. Silverware incoming.
Mate, he used to coach at my home town and the energy around the team was electric. You've got some good times ahead.
Very good video.Thank you.
He’s one of the few managers it feels now who actually worked their way up, rather than just hired based on being a good player
Loved the way you have looked widely about a person who could have easily have been overlooked. Great insight! As an Aussie I followed Chelsea after living in London a few years back. But I'm off that bandwagon go you Spurs!!!!!!!
I LOVE HIM he did wonders at Celtic. Can't wait to follow his career. I'll miss him
Man I just found your channel and you definitely deserve more love, your editing and storytelling are great and the way you articulate the narrative about sports makes it super interesting, I’m definitely subscribing now
As an Aussie, so proud of him. Representing us back home in the best way possible
Very informative, thankyou
this was a good watch...thank you for putting this together.
Unbelievable achievement by the humble Australian manager Angie Postecoglou
Having watched him bloom since he was 8, we all have to say thank goodness the 2 years at Celtic got him great exposure.
His man management and ability to identify a player’s potential to perform at a level makes him arguably the best at this in the world!
So thanks to his very astute manager, he found two big big clubs with FAT cheque books!
And the journey has really only just begun at this level
Go Angie
I've just discovered your channel, but this content is ELITE man - absolutely falling in love with it all
One of the best of many Spurs/Ange related channels/blogs etc I've watched recently. Super well produced and thought out. I will be following Spurs and Ange from here in Oz (we love our Big Ange here in Australia), and you get a sub. You should have way more than 10k - that's how good the quality of this video was. Subbed and liked.
I'm calling it, this video would blow up, a really great summary about amge and neatly timed too
Great video. I am a coach from Australia and I appreciate what you have said and the information your have researched.
Watched his rise as a 10 year old inthe stands at Lakeside watching him in charge if South Melbourne in 1996
Heidelberg United 😅😅😅
I hope Ange ends your trophy drought. From a Celtic fan 👍
In Australia, Craig Foster is known as Craig Tosser.
Thank you SotG for this excellent look back at our new manager. Will he turn out to be one of Levy's very rare great football decisions? Because a lot of us fans feel he will be the Spurs manager who exudes our club motto 'TO DARE IS TO DO' - COYS!!
I am that old that I watched Ange play for South Melbourne. In a touch of irony he was a defender; now his coaching style is restlessness attack.
This man is a top, top, top individual and has given me a manager in whom I have complete faith. COYS and Ange
Celtic fan my whole life… I miss this man with all my heart 😢❤
Really good vid.
Just subscribed, keep up the good work!
This is awesome, spot on. Great message and insight of a very underestimated man
Hope Ange is a success at Spurs, if he isn't blame the board.
The story just keeps getting sweeter after 7 games, the Ange train is rolling relentlessly.
great video, I’m rooting for Ange
COYS
I'm a die hard Arsenal fan, but god damn I love Ange. He's so down to earth and he just gets it.
he's the best, man. It's one thing to feel like your club is headed in a decent direction football-wise, but having someone like him at the head of it makes bad results seem like not that big of a deal
That was really well put together. Thanks.
Well done video, great voiceover voice! COYS!
watching this to basically figure out Tottenham this season. ive always loved big personalities as coaches from mourinho, wenger, carlo, simeone and now him. honestly i havent come across anything that paints this guy in a bad light and i wish he can guide his team to success
Excellent video.
You can't love Tottenham enough. COYS
Awesome Vid ⚽️
He’s a Beauty is Big Ange
Those early days at Brisbane Roar 🦁 (Roarcelona) were next Level.
36 I believe UNBEATEN Run
Fantastic video. Obviously done your research and understand the situation very well!
Great video! Excellent content and quality. 👍
there is so much money involved at these levels of the sport, its a huge risk to get some wild card underdog (which makes a great sports movie, sure. and a legendary tale for the history books IF they succeed. BIG if). i think its quite understandable that thats not often the case, and when it happens that they were not the first choice to begin with
I think Tottenham began to turn it around when Ange wrote the word BELIEVE on a piece of cardboard and hung it up right above the exit to their dressing room.
