I'm rewatching that season and I think I know why they did it that way. There's the progression of the Doctor from being haunted by the time war to finally feeling free and moving on because Rose gave him a new view point on life. :)

I like Chris’s regeneration theme it kinda has a fairytale vibe to it and on top of the fact that he was ok with the change he embraced it knowing that he was “Fantastic” 🥹🥹🥹
