May I suggest 2 hour long videos for my complete and utter happiness! Yay!
Id like longer videos also.
Total agree
I see two volunteer videographers and editors ... 🤗😎 Remember, Courtney and Riley are primarily designers, builders, haulers and weather watchers. We get to tag along.

I will be here when you guys hit 1,000,000 subscribers. I will also be expecting a Dinner invitation! 😂😂😂
We will throw one hell of a shop party if we ever hit 1 million!!! 😉
Trout Creek Truss. Good choice. I always use them.
We couldn’t believe they had columns in stock!
Yeah baby. I see a shop underway.
🤘🏻
That's because you "Guy's are Cool " and Fun to Watch and Create!! The Amazing Skill Set you bring to the Channel is Night and Day above the Rest!! ( Soul) Toronto
Thank you so much Soul!
@@AmbitionStrikes P.S. I couldn't figure out why you would Buy that Army Truck? Oh, and How you could Afford the Lifestyle but those Questions you Answered!! Great Idea going (Off Grid) and getting away from Any Urban Centers!! Dean ( Soul)

Come rainy season that moondust is going to be slick as snot on a doorknob! LOL
Aside from getting the shop dried in, our second goal is to get fabric and base down before the rain arrives! 🤞🏻
If you un latch any of the panels and tailgate, hold the piece out at around 45° they will pull off. There is even storage under the bed up front for them. If you need help figuring it out hit me up and I can get more information.
Removing the tailgate would have been a great idea!
@@AmbitionStrikes on the right pin of the tailgate is rollpin, rotate the tailgate down until the pin is lined up with the slot on the hinge. Then slide the tail gate off. On the passenger side under the bed are 2 compartments that go the width of the bed to store your panels.
Nice comments. All earned with fun spread all over.
2 years later, 413k, like nobody’s business. Great content guys!!
20 acres amazing
I am amazed how much you get done in such a short amount of time. You figure it out every step of the way. I spent the week at a quilting retreat with Riley’s mom. You now have a group of quilters following you. Hurray for independence and ingenuity!
I hope you enjoyed some shrimpy salsa for us! 😉
@@AmbitionStrikes Sadly, there was no shrimpy salsa. That gives me an idea for next year though!
You can thank Martin Johnson for recommending your Channel!! I live in Spokane Valley Washington and hope to see you at the meet up! God Bless and have a Wonderful Day!! 😀⚘❤
We look forward to meeting you!
Absolutly love it. Couldnt you have done 2 30' long trusses and had central poles and a 2 peaked roof?
Good job though, love how fast you guys can change your plans!
No worries about boring us with too much detail. I’ve got a similar project in the near future and am loving the details🤟!
We'll keep em coming then!
July 2022 --> Congrats on 180k subscribers
Thank you! ☺️
I love the functionality of the dump truck.
It’s like an off grid Swiss Army knife! 😂
@@AmbitionStrikes As I recall the US Army's process replacing the 6x6 Deuce, literally the NATO ground forces had gone to 4x4 flat front trucks already.
@@AmbitionStrikes I thought the excavator was your Swiss army knife.
Starting my build in just over a month in northern Nevada(60miles from Idaho). Watching you build close for ideas.. Love those posts, think I will do the same!!
And I just retired as a metal fabricator too...
Congrats on the retirement and exciting project. We love Northern Nevada, it is beautiful!
100K is not far away. Your build is awesome. Thanks.
Thanks David! We really appreciate you always commenting on our videos! ☺️
we have bags of cement here in australia called rapid set all you do is tip bags of rapid set in the hole with post and just add water it hardens in minutes and fully hard within 24 hours. no need for a mixer might ask your supplier next time to see if they can get it, much easier. keep the vids coming i enjoy them
We have that too! They call it fence post mix, doesn't even require water if there's moisture in the soil. We wanted to ensure consistent mix and strength. Probably over kill?
Quick set, or fence mix isn’t structural concrete. Structural support, piers need to be a minimum 20mpa. Bagged concrete has potential of having a 25mpa rating after 28 days of curing. I’m a little perplexed at how little concrete you poured into your pier holes.
Look at the dashboard there should be a panel that gives load capacity at certain boom angles and lengths. It changes faster if you use the fork length rolling up or down moves load in and out past tipping point of machine .Know Your truss weight and your rigging weight combined and check against safe load angles of boom capacity, don't forget tag lines both ends one ground ,one in air for your rigger/structural frame hanger.Crossbrace between the roof trusses. A scissor lift to stabilize the first two trusses with cross braces helps so to some friends not afraid of heights ..!!!
Thanks for the tip! Haven't noticed any load indication. Honestly these little trusses are so light Courtney and I are able to lift them so I know we aren't anywhere near the machines capacity.
I stumbled upon your channel yesterday. Have watched almost all your videos over the past day.. love you guys.. your energy is contagious.. keep them coming..
Thanks so much for sticking around and supporting the channel! ☺️
I did the same thing about a month ago. They rock.
Van Wives got me started and I can’t stop watching!
Been watching you guys since the very start of the camper build, happy to see that your channel has grown as much as it has, you deserve it! 👍
all good
☺️
I like that you guys gave some explanations, without too much, easy to follow you!
I love your channel . I enjoyed watching your all videos . . ♥️
You guys are slaying it. Great job yall got alot accomplished in such a short time period. Can't wait to see the walls go up.
Good Job of checking the holes before putting in the concrete....maybe you can call the shop "Stumpy Frog"? 🐸
Boone said we can’t have a new mascot, so the name will have to be dog themed… 😉
82.2K now ! Cant wait to see the shop
😃
100K is just around the corner, and housing is just around the corner! The progress is amazing!
That will be an amazing moment! (To both have a house and hit 100k... 😂)
Suggestion - run water piping under your slab for heat purposes. You flow warmed water through the system off a small water heater and pump and you have warm floors
That is a great idea! Working on a warm floor sounds amazing!
The slab is the shop. Their living quarters will be upstairs.
@@Bwanar1 would still warm the area
@@robertbates5537 Where they store their equipment? I could see it working out well, for the floor of the living area.
@@Bwanar1 it will heat the area where they work, which will be right below their apartment - hence helping heat the apartment
Take the bucket off the machine to increase your lifting off the truck. Will be handy if your setting beams as well. Good job.
That's actually a great idea! I feel silly for not thinking of it.
After you get your posts plumb. You should be able to sit the machine in the center of the building and lift all the trusses up in one go. Then with one of you at each end walk the individual trusses to your 24" oc or what ever the engineer says. Pull from one end and go 23-1/4" and away.
Those columns are cool. Never have seen them here in southwest Missouri.
Looked they don't have any distributors in NM
Hello to you 2 hope is well with your building be safe please
Thank you!
You guys would definitely hit 100k before the shop is even close to being done, best of luck for the shop, and congrats on 80k.
Thank you, that would be amazing!!
Thank You for your videos.
Great Job.
Thanks Andy!
Crazy to see the progress y'all are making in just the last week! The shell of the building is going to be done before you know it! It is looking great!
We're pushing to have the deck done by the next time you're here! 😉
Whenever I dig holes for fence etc., I always catch animals. So now I know to look in the whole before throwing a wood post in.
You guys are so awesome and you go together like peanut butter and jelly I love watching your videos
I love it
A stop to swim while picking up buildings material ❤️
Fun couple
It can be hard to find a balance between work and play sometimes, but we do our best! ☺️
I started watching you when you were doing the solar panels, now I going back and watching how it all started LOVE the channel.......

Wow! “Manual Post Hole Diggers”, I have used those a few times! 😂😂😂
The skid steer is a game changer!
@@AmbitionStrikes ,it is used for so many things today!
You two are truly inspiring!
☺️
I've also never run across perma columns. They're fabulous! What an incredible way to build a founation off grid. ... Congratulations on 80K subscribers. ... You build it and they will come! ... Bet you'll be dried-in and inside before Fall. ... Godspeed
They are a game changer for scenarios like ours! If we can be dried in by Fall that will be amazing!!
See there are fires in Northern Idaho, hope you guy's are not affected.
We are safe at the moment. Thanks for checking! ☺️
@@AmbitionStrikes hope you guys consider building a fire proof building in your property in the future. Keep safe!
Y'all are doing awesome! Y'all should consider welding or bolting a anchor 🪝 to the back of the excavator bucket. It would help with stability when lifting materials.
That is a great idea!!
And while you have the welder out put a chain hook on the back of the bucket, I cringed every time I watched you do a lift with those straps 😬
super....!! es encantador su proyecto de VIDA.
Thanks!
I love how you got the trusses up to the site
It was a little cringe worthy to watch Riley drag that much 💸 along the road but he got it done!
You two give encouragement to all, keep it up
☺️🤘🏻👊🏻
Looks like a good system. Great job.
We’re very happy with it!
You guys rock. Impressed...
Run your tools off your batteries, then you can use genny to top off the batteries. Too late to help on columns, but pour a couple inches of concrete in the bottom of hole to set level of each hole to the same depth, let it set up. Then, place posts in the hole and finish the concrete.
That is an excellent idea that we will have to remember for next time!
love seeing everything being plumb and square! Makes the rest much easier!
That’s the hope! 🤞🏻
Hi guys, the site is looking great, the rest of this part of this journey will not take long, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, keep safe and well.

Glad you were able to find the perma columns out there. I hope they save you some time and work.
So far we are stoked! ☺️
Keep on keeping on, guys. You young folks make me proud and give me hope. Are you going to pour a concrete foundation? If so, plan ahead...way, way, WAY ahead for plumbing and electrical stub outs through the slap. Use PEX-A plumbing....buy the whatever the cost PEX-A expansion tool. You will never regret it. I'm following this like a proud Dad!
It can be overwhelming to think of all of things you need to think ahead of, but we're doing our best!
Congratulations on making 80k. Well done. Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Thank you! ☺️
Amazed at the progress guys. You're doing great.
Thanks John! It’s easier when we’ve got you and others cheering us on! ☺️
What a great idea. Never heard of those columns before. Even in well drained soil I’m concerned my post building will eventually rot at the posts. So I tied in the wall framing built on the slab to the vertical posts to give it a little more structure. Like your method so much better. Shows where ideas have improved in last 2 decades.
They seem like a great solution for people who plan to turn a pole barn into more than just covered storage! We hope it will lengthen the lifespan of the building significantly.
I woke up on Sunday morning to find yall had posted. Coffee with Courtney and Riley. Life is good.
And we get to drink our coffee and chat with awesome people like you! ☺️
@@AmbitionStrikes oh man. Id love to be there helping and having coffee.
Future tip. To increase lifting capacity of excavator, remove the bucket. You lose out on a bit of flexibility for picking up stuff, but the weight of the bucket isn't zero. (and it's far away from the center). Plus putting straps by the pin is one of the strongest points.
That is an amazing idea that never crossed our minds!!
It’s super enjoyable to see what you are doing. Thanks for the videos. All the best to you both.
Thanks Tom!
How are the post holding up? I use to put coarse gravel and small rocks in the hole before placing the column and pouring concrete. Then the gravel and stones act as armor and bings with the column. Here in sweden it’s called an Elephant foot.
just did a binge on humpty dumpty and your new land, love it. If you haven't seen it yet or are interested in other off grid channels have a look at "red poppy ranch", awesome channel and videos. Can't wait to see future videos. By the way your video length are just right.
We've watched quite a few of his videos, especially when we first considered going off grid! Thanks for the comment on video length, it's really nice to get some feedback! 😊
Trout Creek Truss is a great company, they built my attic truss for my shop. Looks like you two are moving right along. Using those concrete piers are the right way to go. If you need scaffolding, nail guns, skillsaw or compressor let me know. I will Email you.

I would have used the track hole to setup them. But ya'll did a wonderful job keep it going.
I think if we had any more to set that is what we would do! It was much quicker to just carry and drop them in the holes.
like the posts I'm looking to do a similar build, good info.
Hopefully our content can make your build go a little bit smoother!
Watching you unload your materials in the dust I just remembered something I wanted to tell you. The top couple of inches of soil in that area contains a lot of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mt. St. Helens. My wife was 11 at the time. She said everything in the Priest River/Spirit Lake area was covered in about an inch and a half of ash.
Woah! That is crazy and would explain the weird texture.
Those columns are amazing. Great work guys. You’re a inspiration.
