Seeing a Sonic CD level and Supersponge in the same title is interesting
What’s the ending song though
Hear me out, my idea for a revolutionary movie would be spongebob's great great (x100) grandfather being the true creator of the krabby patty secret formula, and Mr. Krabs being a fraud, finding out he stole it, spongebob's family takes krabs to court and wins, spongebob, having an existential crisis, is forced to choose between family tradition or his profession as a frycook. In the end, his family ends up obtaining the rights to the secret formula, AND end up buying the krusty krab franchise (making krabs broke) and keeping the namesake, making spongebob the OWNER (more than manager!) and Mr. Krabs the employee because he has no dough. It's time to give an interesting spin to the formula (pun not intended), I don't mind more spongebob projects, kamp koral is a bad omen, I don't like it.
I would be okay with a spin-off set in the future, I like to write a lot, so if I ever do anything on the nick side of things, you might hear my name, I really like spongebob, it's my special interest, and I've paid close attention to what makes it the story, writing and humor work. We need to deconstruct spongebob more than ever, there is much hemorrhaging creativity in the past few months it's kinda scary for someone like me who likes to create more than he consumes.
also spongebobs great great great (a hundred greats later) grandfather is called Stefin Hillenburger Squarepants.
Yo! SiIvagunner!!
Fun fact: the Brazilians voice actors for the kids version of spongebob and Sandy are the son and daughter of Spongebob’s Brazilian voice actor.
That's so interesting and cute.
Thank you for sharing this.
Wait really? dang, that's actually so nice o3o
Neat
Second fun fact:In Polish dub, SpongeBob's Polish voice actor also voices Sage in this movie.
@James West they said VOICE actors not actors
Imagine if instead of camp flashbacks we got callbacks to earlier moments in the show
That would be infinitely better
Yesssss, remade with this new style of animation.
@Mr. Brodie not if its reanimated to the movies style
Reanimating scenes is really lazy. It wouldve been cool if they went the extra mile and made some new scenes that felt like older episodes lol
@namejeff or if they animated some scrapped scenes from the show

Is it me or does the Space Cat storyline seem more interesting than the one we got?
Yeah that’s be way more interesting and fun.
On paper maybe, but in practice it might not have been as good. There were probably good reasons Stephen Hillenburg rejected it.
Stephen liked relatable stories, which is why Tim Hill made the basic plot more down-to-earth than that alien cat thing or the previous two films. Plus, what we got is partly based on a pitch Stephen made himself sometime before Sponge Out of Water was released.
@@Dracomut I’m pretty sure Paramount rejected it not Hillenburg
I'd LOVE To See it Turned Into A Graphic Novel!
At least this movie can still be used as a YTP source. Any movie can.

Meanwhile I'm here wondering how many Kings of the Sea appeared in Spongebob movies and series
There are currently three I think.
Honestly they could make a film exploring bikini bottom's monarchies. I mean doesn't that make Triton and Neptune's daughter siblings?
@Zane Drake maybe even an extra twelve at least for Neptune. In one episode, Krusty Towers, Squidward claimed that "Neptune the Fourteenth would be nice" when talking to Mr Krabs and SpongeBob on how which wallpaper he'd like to have for his hotel room.
There's 3
Don’t forget the king neptune in the patchy segments of house party
Yeah, I wasn’t a big fan of the writing of this film, but BOY was it gorgeous to watch. Also the absurdity of Keanu Reeves and Snoop Dogg showing up gave me some pretty hard laughs, no matter how unintentional they may be
The movies have had an interesting team of writers. The first movie was written solely by people from the show (Stephen Hillenberg, Derek Drymon, Tim Hill, Kent Osborne, Aaron Springer, and Paul Tibbitt). The second movie was written by Stephen and Paul alongside Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger (who worked on the Kung Fu Panda movies). This movie was written by Tim, Jonathan, and Glenn.
That explains why the plot it's so over the place, like trying to be heartful ike the first one but absurd like the second one, failing on both aspects sadly
Tim Hill actually wrote the film. Jonathan and Glenn helped on the story, but not the script.
This one also had Aaron Springer and Mark O'Hare as heads of story. On top of that, I'm pretty sure it was Stephen who got them and Tim Hill to work on it.
Just goes to show how Stephen’s writing really impacted the quality of the story.
@@josiahagin2100 I always combine story and screenplay/teleplay credits when talking about writers. In my eyes, the movie had 3 writers.
"To do a 75-minute movie about SpongeBob wanting to make some jellyfish jelly would be a mistake, I think this had to be SpongeBob in a great adventure. That's where the comedy's coming from, having these two naïve characters, SpongeBob and Patrick, a doofus and an idiot, on this incredibly dangerous heroic odyssey with all the odds against them." -Steven Hillinberg’s thoughts on the first movie
This movie is pretty much the same plot as spongebob wanting to make some jellyfish jelly.
(Also, there was a spongebob game called sponge on the run before the movie. That games is based on sponge out of water...)
That is such an awesome analogy for the first film and it makes me love Stephen Hillenburg even more!
I think that:
A: Spongebob the Musical is so much better than Sponge On The Run
B: A Wonderful Life parody would be so much better than what we got.
The Wonderful Life stuff is actually still there. The camp flashbacks were initially gonna be at the beginning of the movie, but they got moved to the end for whatever reason. However, they're still to show how important the main character is to his friends, just like Wonderful Life. Tim Hill put them in the movie as a tribute to Stephen Hillenburg and how much he meant to his own friends. Pretend SpongeBob's friends are talking about Steve instead of SpongeBob when they give their testimonies and it might hit different for ya.
@@RaccoonFoot well when you hear an “It’s a Wonderful Life Parody” I think something Similar to “Shrek Forever After” or “The Santa’s Clause 3” where we spend a good portion of the film seeing a world without the main character
anyone else think that it's weird that Patchy has yet to be featured in a spongebob movie?
In fact, wasn’t his last appearance was in spongebob’s birthday, were he finally got to see spongebob? And then afterwards never seen once again?

I mean it was kinda a missed opportunity not to include him in the surface scenes in the first two movies, maybe he could have had his own gag or something of trying to get Spongebob to notice him or something among those lines, or at the very least they could have given him a cameo or something. But that’s just my opinion.
Of all the reviews of this movie I've seen from popular cartoon reviewers, this is by far the most fair. I've seen too many people mindlessly hating SotR to appreciate its strong points, so see a review that DOES appreciate them while still pointing out the problems in a polite manner is nice to see. I personally have a theory that Kamp Koral and anything relating to it is just an alternate timeline in the Spongebob universe
not even a theory, that's how kid versions of these sort of shows work lol. I've seen it plenty of times in the 90s. Make a successful show, then make a kids spin-off of said show in order to promote the original. I’m pretty sure the entire “Superhero” gimmick near the end was just Viacom advertising marketable toys. Spongebob isn’t even “Out of Water” for most of the film; it literally happens in the last 1/4.

Having a It’s A Wonderful Sponge would’ve been wonderful (pun intended) mostly for the reason of a story that could center on the idea of “Why Spongebob Matters” not only to the characters but also to the rest of the world. It would’ve given a sentimental ending to not only the triology, but maybe the show. But Nick was like “lol let’s set up a prequel!” 😄👌🏻🕺🏻🎊🎉💯
I wish they stuck with the It's A Wonderful Life homage. Maybe even have the story inspired by it, with Spongebob feeling like everyone would be better off without him but soon seeing what life would be like if he truly didn't exist. It'd be kinda like WhoBob WhatPants but better... if they did it right.
The animation team need to do a hardcore adult looney tunes... like the good ol' days.
Have they
It makes me sad to see one of the Greatest cartoon characters, Spongebob, slowly change from a seemingly timeless figure you could watch and laugh to, become a literal corporate mascot. I just hope the Staff (Directors, Writers, Editors, Voice Actors) will do what they can to prevent this, with "Sponge on The Run" being a good example, as they actually were trying to make this film enjoyable, and they did succeed in appealing to long time fans, myself included. Hopefully Viacom and Nickelodeon can bring spongebob back to it's formal Glory.
EDIT : Season 11 is great, but not as good as the First 3 (4?) Seasons
No matter how much I want to admit but there are just certain instances where In certain media like games or sequels characters like spongebob change in different adaptations
@ScroogeMcToilet If you compare this movie, Sponge Out of Water and seasons 9-12 to seasons 6-8, you can see that SpongeBob have gotten alot better. I think we should just be happy that SpongeBob have almost gotten back to the quality of the first four seasons. I also think we should be thankful to the SpongeBob crew that are doing their best to keep the show alive and high-quality, now that they don’t have Stephen Hillenburg anymore...
@@themememaster6775 I just hope that the show doesn't become the new simpsons...
Spongebob should have ended after the 1st movie like Hillenberg meant it to. It’s never been as good as the first 3 seasons, and it probably never will be. Don’t care what others have told me, the newer seasons are still underwhelming compared to the 1-3, which are still quoted word-for-word and memed often to this day, which goes to show you how amazing and timeless they are
Spongebob has become a shell of what it once one and basically a zombie now, propped up by corporate greed and lack of originality
It's a spit on the face of Stephen Hillenburg's grave and his legacy, I am honestly glad he's not to alive to see this.
I did not know that one of the studios that helped animate this movie also did Captain Underpants. It makes me want a sequel for Captain Underpants even more!

I appreciate your fair look into this film. Not to insert my own opinion but I personally really enjoyed it. I definitely understand though that there were some corporate undertones to the film that felt pretty off, but this film still managed to capture the typical SpongeBob charm despite that, I'd say. While most people will probably steer away from this film, it's definitely worth a watch just to see the gorgeous animation and all the little easter eggs and references that were placed around.

Thank you for not being super super harsh on the movie. Every other review of the movie has been just nothing but negativity against it, like they went in wanting to hate it and just doubled down. What a fun review, honestly, this movie,at first felt bland and boring, but after rewatching it a couple of times,I started to see a lot of good things about the movie, the movie still suffers from a lack of tension and conflict, but it still is really fun.Deep down it is a movie that offers that fuzzy feeling from the first season with a lot of companies decisions, but still worth a watch
Unpopular opinion: this movie actually reminded me of season 1-3 spongebob and the original movie. Just like the original movie, the ending felt like a nice conclusion to the entire series.
Also, the political system of Spongebob is:
- God King Neptune, ruler of all the seas and the 7 kings and the one who appears in the show
- King Neptune, one of the 7 kings and ruler of the sea where Spongebob is and villain of the first movie
- King Poseidon, another of the 7 kings and ruler of another area and villain of the third movie
(Wich means there are 5 kings left, this is the only way it makes sense)
The biggest gripe I have is that the creator of SpongeBob never wanted spin-off shows. And additionally, it ruins a couple of Dynamics. I mean sure, I can believe that Squidward and Patrick were met at a summer camp, but not Sandy. Sandy and SpongeBob met during the first season. Additionally, they're essentially reusing all of the characters in different ways, which in my opinion doesn't exactly make it any better. They could have very easily introduced some new characters or at least went into the effort of Designing something different instead of just reusing old characters.
I agree right there, maybe if a spinoff what sandy did before binkini bottom and the episode would be the clam fight scene

Wow I'm actually p excited to watch this movie now, the animation looks amazing, I love the stylization 😍
I really didn't like this movie. It was so incredibly derivative of the first movie to a point where I paused the movie multiple times and said to myself 'I've seen this before but like 10 times better.' But it isn't even good in what little originality it has: That wild west sequence was just a huge waste of time and clearly only included for quick celebrity guest cameos. I also felt that this movie didn't even really feel like a movie but just a longer episode instead. It was just lacking in size and scope which is especially noticeable when comparing to the first movie and Sponge out of Water. Those just felt more cinematic to me. The one positive I will give Sponge on the Run is its visuals but even then, the first movie also looked great so I don't think that I would ever prefer this over the other. I'm not saying that it had to be as good or better than the first, but if I'm going to spend one and a half hours to watch a Spongebob movie, it better be worth the time. Rant over.
5:29 this will forever be my favorite spongebob episode
8:20 wait. is that a SHREK 2 REFERENCE
Honestly I really liked the movie, right uptil it ended.
*Beware of spoilers*
Cause the movie just well stopped. Like the flow was going and it the build up was pretty good but then the movie just finished? SpongeBob just makes Posiden nice? I get it's nice but it felt so rushed. Like I was expecting a massive fun chase scene and honestly expected more from "Otto" but he just was a chauffeur? Like why build him up so much that he ends up doing nothing worthwhile?
And like The final climax didn't feel like that fit for a movie but more of that fit for a really long TV special. Honestly if they had removed the Live action scene (although I did do the Leo pointing meme when I saw Snoop Dogg and Danny Trejo) and dialed down on the flashbacks, this would've made a really good TV special. Ngl, I think I did shed a year at the cuteness of the flashbacks.
and I loved how Patrick was a genuinely good friend for SpongeBob instead of being a moron as seen in more recent episodes. and I love the small TV show references littered around the movie (paddy wagon ftw)
BUT THERES SO MANY plot holes!?
Why is Plankton suddenly so sad that Krabs gave up? It's happened so many times in the show and plankton never bat an eye.
Also WHY TF IS TEA AT A TREEDOME SUDDENLY NOT CANON!? I REFUSE TO BELIEVE SPONGEBOB MET SANDY AS KIDS! AGGGGHHH
Like I've heard this before, but it's equally a 1/10 movie (cause of some very annoying things and terrible climax) and a 10/10 (cause of how good the rest of the movie was)
So I'll give it a 6/10 just cause its very polarizing even for my dumb head
Both The SpongeBob Movie 3: A Sponge on the Run and Camp Koral: SpongeBob's UnderYears are both slated to release to digital on March 4th when CBS All Access shuts down and rebrands as Paramount+
About the Sandy-Spongebob relationship, Stephen Hillenburg made it clear that SpongeBob should never have a romance since he is asexual (as all real-life sea sponges are) and too innocent for it. Even Vincent Waller said that SpongeBob getting a significant other was "definitely on the Steve shortlist of NOs."
, so reversing that rule in this movie it's really jarring even if was on the first drafts of the series.
@Dr.Sawbones plus Spongebob being Asexual just makes more sense. He's a kid at heart so he's not mentally ready to explore romance, and as a sea sponge he can reproduce asexually. So it makes more sense for him to be Asexual
It Felt more like a TV Movie than a Full Movie.
One thing i love about the third Spongebob movie is for the Indonesian Dub,the cast of early season Spongebob is back voicing their character (except for Plankton VA who still voice Plankton till these day). Is like a bittersweet reunion
The musical is not only good is amazing
I've got to say that I really enjoyed Sponge on the Run. I know the Original Spongebob movie is the consesus best in the franchise, but I feel SOTR can make a case for the best as well. This movie was so fun to watch.
The 3D visuals and animation are incredible but Sponge on the Run's story and plot are as hollow as the holes on Spongebob.
I didnt even watch past the weezer song because i was so shocked they were in the movie. I actually really liked the song after listening again. Even it feels like a random demo that nick asked them to change 3 words for the movie.

Old spongebob was genuine. New spongebob is corporate 😔
Not gonna lie: I actually prefer this as the true finale to Spongebob's story than the first movie. Flaws aside, the overall tone of the movie and the climax really make it feel like a proper conclusion to the show's canonthan the first movie did.

It stinks to feel so mixed, how can something so beautiful be so hollow. The movie is kinda cool, it has an pretty beatiful stop motion and 3D animation, It could have a BIG nostalgia hit if this would have "Gary come back home" as soon Spongebob would not find gary, i was thinking about that. Also They would have a bit of stephen's special touch of the series, and if Poseidon king would have the same look as the original one in the first movie. The final snail scene it was kinda confusing, and also some of the jokes aren't like the actual series, But the real parts and interesting parts are the Camp Coral ones. These could show us some kinda sneak peeks to the new "Camp Coral" Series. Also the end with "Agua" And the Stephen spongebob sketch is BIG nostalgia, and its cool.
Also, The Keanu Reaves cameo, its horrible and cool at the same time. This movie gets a 8/10.
Honestly, my only problem with the movie was the Camp Coral flashbacks, especially the one where they retconned how Sandy and Spongebob first met. Other than that I really enjoyed it.
Now that I saw it I can finally watch these
I like how Palmtree Panic past was playing in the background in the beginning 😏
I've waited for another video for a while
Jeez, Sponge-bob for me died a long time ago, I think after season 4 or 5 it started getting too weird and stupid and had forgotten its identity, but that’s what happens when shows go on for too long. Just like regular show when the whole park got lifted up into space.
The lost city of atlantic city? like Atlanta in Futurama? boy the creativity well ran dry huh
this movie feels like a reminder that this spongebob is not for the old fans anymore.. now spongebob is self aware and sings mainstream songs
Right off the bat, I feel the sentiment.
Tecnically this film is a mix between the first movie, Have you see this Snail? and Atlantis Squarepantis, there's no other way to describe it
No, Patchy; Spongebob didn't betray us...NICK did.
They betrayed you, Spongebob and even Stephen himself; all so they could make a quick buck with Kamp Koral. Just goes to show how terrible corporate greed truly is.
Look what it's doing to Cartoon Network
It’s not greed spongebob just needs something new like you don’t wanna see the same thing for 10 more years
@@-MSR- Why not just let it end completely, why create anything new at all?
Ol' Spongey has run his course
@@sadlobster1 because no one would watch nick if spongebob wasn’t on it
@@-MSR- I actually thought the Loud House at one point would be able to keep me watching Nick, but its still just Spongebob for me
STEPEHN worked on kamo moral and the third movie its confirmed by tom kenny
I totally watched the movie on a service I paid for, completely legally. Definitely.
I literally got a Paramount Plus ad for this movie recently that just advertised the celebrity cameos
