I was in 8th grade when this hit #1. Everyday on the bus home from school the driver would put on the radio for us. When this song came on (almost everyday), every girl would sing this song as it was a huge hit.
This will always be the "Family Ties slow dance song" in my brain. :) As a kid growing up in the 80s I was enthralled with Tracy Polland! lol Jeez...it's a beautiful song. As a kid I was mesmerized by it, as a teenager I thought it was pretty...but as a grown man it brings tears. Thanks for doing this one.
We love to see that tender spot you have. You can't fake this. One of my favorite songs. Billy still sings this today at almost 80. Our great singers unfortunately, are leaving us on a daily basis.
Hello dear Angela...you are indeed a sucker for a good love song.😊 This is a good one, and you reacted with the tenderhearted sentiment for which you are known and loved by your viewers.👍👍❤❤
I paused it as it was about to start, and told myself, if she sheds a tear, then I'm a fan for life! lol This song, and his delivery, always kills me. Glad to see I'm not the only one...both from you and all the great comments I'm seeing.
I was working for a Karaoke company the summer of 93, This was one of the most popular songs, anyone who could sing this always got a standing ovation form the crowd
Funniest thing is, the slight detractors, this was a featured song on an 80s sitcom....that's when I first heard it, and it moved me. Perhaps a "mediocre" song to deaf ears, but it hit me then, and still hits me today. And the fact that She got just as moved, tells me, maybe a mediocre song...but it's an important and impactful song. Say what you will....but a Good song does that.
Great song. It was a big hit back in 87. Hearing it again makes me wonder how in the world they didn't have any more hits. The music and the vocals are top notch!
We used to go watch them play at this little club in Santa Monica called “At My Place” in the late 1980s. They had a few albums out, appeared in a couple of movies. They were always amazing. Hopeless Romantic is my favorite song by Billy Vera.
Loved this song when it debuted on TV sitcom Family Ties as Alex Keaton danced with his co-star that he would marry. Eighties music 🎵🎶 with those ballads that made you melt great power ballads.
Billy Vera’s “At This Moment” is a song that was made famous on a show called “Family Ties”. Written in ‘77, no one had interest in recording it. A writer for an episode on Family Ties happened into a bar in LA where “Billy and the Beaters” were playing this song. It just so happened that he was looking for a sad song for the end of the show’s ‘85 season and the start of the ‘86 season, and has fate would have it, he accidentally walked right into it. Billy and the Beaters recorded the song in a studio, till then they had only a live recording of the song. Once the show aired it took off on its way up the charts. The song is about a girl he met who described a breakup she’d just gone through. She was so descriptive about it that he went back home that night and wrote this song, but he wrote it from the guys point of view, what he must have been feeling. However, for 9 months he never could come up with an ending to the song. Billy ended up falling in love with that girl who told him the story. She eventually broke up with him and that’s when he was able to finish the song, and it’s most famous line…”I’d subtract 20 years of my life”. It’s weird how life plays out sometimes.
I was 14 years old, and I remember trying to hold back the tears and trying not to blink too hard when this was playing on our little TV. I was a kid, and I knew Alex's heart was breaking, I was going through the same thing a Frosh in HS. It was sad, and the song made it even more heart-wrenching. Having been through it many times since then, that same feeling rises again when I hear the music, and I know now how Alex really felt. Thank you for that insight!
OMG Girl!!! No need for words. Your reaction just in your facial expressions just as he gets to "Found you another, and you just don't love me no more" and you realised what this song was going to be was just amazing. I'm so glad I found your channel. can't wait to check out more videos. Edit: You're SO expressive. I love it. First reaction chanel I've ever subscribed to.
Great reaction to a very well written and performed song. Your heartfelt emotions were evident in this video, I have always appreciated the honesty you display in your face...Keep it up...
It is 4 am here and I am hooked on your videos. You are watching these now and I experienced them first hand. It is such a nostalgic feeling to experience you experiencing it. BIG FAN.
When I was younger, I requested this song on one of those radio dedication shows for a girl I liked in school. I told the host that I wanted to dedicate "At this moment" by Billy Vera and The Beavers. The host laughed at me.
It is a wonderful song and it was a strong theme for Michael J Fox's character, really touching. Another beautiful song that sounds just sweet is "Love can make you cry" By Urgent. It's not really a heartbreaking song but just sounds so good. It will make you feel each note each string and the lyrics are done with passion.
It is the worst thing to ever happen to you, ie the declaration that it is over. It happened to me a number of years ago and it was devastating. Thankfully, I eventually got over it. Powerful song. It is one of the best.
Hey Angela, could we get a.compilation of songs that made you cry? It's an utter delight to see a beautiful young woman show such an emotional, sweet natured soul!
Its a sad song yes....but whenever I hear this I think of Michael J Fox and his wife Tracey Pollan ... and how they are happily married.
Billy wrote and sang this song in 1981 it will always be one of the best songs ever written and sung for your broken heart.
I can’t listen to this without crying
I remember this song playing on the radio constantly in the fall of 1986
I was in 8th grade when this hit #1. Everyday on the bus home from school the driver would put on the radio for us. When this song came on (almost everyday), every girl would sing this song as it was a huge hit.

One of the great love songs. Its a classic.
The biggest out of left field #1 hit of the 80s, a hit six years after it was released because it was featured on the Family Ties TV show.
We love to see that tender spot you have. You can't fake this. One of my favorite songs. Billy still sings this today at almost 80. Our great singers unfortunately, are leaving us on a daily basis.
Finally! Someone sings my favorite song. Please let the world hear this man and this song! Thank you
First time I heard this was on Family Ties. Your the first to react to this. Keep it up. You have an old beautiful soul
That's where I heard it first, also.
Same here...I was 13 or 14 and will never forget Alex P. Keaton and that moment...I bawled so hard LOL...still gets me even 35 years later
Me too and he went on to marry her in real life
That song fit the storyline and mood of that episode so well. Perfectly chosen.
Yes, Michael J.
I loved that show.
It happened to me..crying every time I hear this beautiful song
This song always tore at my heart strings too.
Hello dear Angela...you are indeed a sucker for a good love song.😊 This is a good one, and you reacted with the tenderhearted sentiment for which you are known and loved by your viewers.👍👍❤❤
That's how a real man accepts his fate.
💯💯💯
I forgot how great this song was. Thanks for doing this one.

@@TheArchangel911 Why was this terrible song from the mid 80s popular in 93?
@@chrisharris7931 I think it was the crowd in Downtown Riverside at the time. 90% of the singers were doing country music.

@@danielhoehne801 This song is really good; many may not appreciate it, but it conveys a deep feeling. I'm sure that a lot of people can relate to it
this is one of the most underrated heartbreak songs ever
Great song. It was a big hit back in 87. Hearing it again makes me wonder how in the world they didn't have any more hits. The music and the vocals are top notch!
The ultimate one hit wonder, but oh what a hit.
Heard this as a child and was always captivated by it. It’s timeless.
Billy also did "Hopeless Romantic"- which I think YOU are Angela ( I am too), and "Here Comes the Dawn Again". I love this artist's work.
Me too Ellen and Alex . Cried my eyes out . What a great song. . Sooo powerful.

Great singer, great band. If Angela wants another tearjerker she should try Here Comes The Dawn Again!
This is such a great song and I absolutely love your reaction Angela!!! BTW,you’re such a cutie pie!!!
He sang this like he meant it girl!! Best love song ever.
Its because he did mean it, it happened to him, it was straight from the heart. Pure blues, a damn fine performance.
Love the song... but it makes me cry all the time..
Awww you’re crying! It’s a beautiful song for sure!
Alex and Ellen....love your reaction to this...you are such a sweet soul Angela!
Absolutely Great Song and he sang it with the most amazing feeling!❤️
On the “ultra-soft” side…try Gordon Lightfoot ~ “If You Could Read My Mind”
Or his ... The Circle is Small
With a tear in my eye...everytime.
He sings the heck out of this song!
Loved every minute of that song, very beautiful and to think this is the first time I've heard this song.
You are right. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking ❤️🩹
Beautiful, amazing song ty so much 👍👍👍💙❤️
Billy Vera also wrote a beautiful song called "One More Time", and Lou Rawls recorded a great version of this one.
One more beautiful song from Billy Vera, here comes the dawn again (live)
U have an old soul.and it's beautiful
Loved this song when it debuted on TV sitcom Family Ties as Alex Keaton danced with his co-star that he would marry. Eighties music 🎵🎶 with those ballads that made you melt great power ballads.

When people ask me my favorite song of all time there is no hesitation. THIS is it.
And i'm so sad because angela just don't love me no more
Youre so cute!!!This song had u crying!!!Thats bcuz u have so much soul!!!Love u!!!
Having someone, who you are in love with, tell you they don't love you anymore is devastating.
Have you heard any of the songs from Bread?
If not, you have to start with 'Make it With You' or 'If'.
And "Diary" and "Aubrey" by Bread!
“Aubrey” and “If” two incredibly beautiful songs…
@@jerickson725 Diary is a tearjerker but so good.
@@TheArchangel911 It is, and I love it so much despite that; I'm not sure why, lol 🤔

Definitely one of my all time favorites. Lyrics are timeless.
His band was called Billy and the Beaters.
A perfect song, and Billy is definitely one of the most underrated vocalists of all time.
You should listen to "heartbreak station" by Cinderella!
LOVE that you take such deep dives!!
For a happy Billy Vera & The Beaters song try “MILLIE MAKES CHILI” O Stunning One! ❤️💐🥂

I've lived this song.
Damn that guy's voice is f amazing
Reminds me of my wife I lost 30 years ago at the young age of 26 I wish for 1 more minute
if you've ever loved someone that you didn't want to leave but they did anyway and yet you still loved them anyway... Wow

It is the hardest thing. I have sadly lived it. Even though it was a long time ago, I still get tears.
This song became popular because it featured on a classic episode of Family Ties (80s sitcom).
Great voice but sad song, hard to listen to it without crying. Thinking if your in that situation, or remembering when it happened to you.
Haven't heard this song in a long time.
Me too, I'm a 63yo guy at work! Drying my eyes in the breakroom.
This song has a lot of soul...
This one gets me every time.
Well done girl!
JJ Gray. "This river". Its a MUST ! The official video. Please! 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Its just a so beautiful song . Hands down
One of my favorites
From where I"m sitting, anyone who does not tear up to this song?????
"If you stay I'd subtract 20 years from my life... "
So strong.
Those people in the audience, should have been on their feet, after a performance like that!!!
Lost without your love by David Gates, was with Bread the group.
Excellent #1 song. I bought this record ♥️🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦
He released this in 1981 and it barely cracked the top 100 pop charts. Then in 1987 it was on the show Family Ties and when re-released it hit #1.
If you're an 80s kid, this song is tied to the Family Ties show.
