Im here thinking, "how would i look in front of people?" Turn my head to the side and theres a video of overcoming fear of training in front of others.
Alright, here's my story- Do I do parkour? No. Do I want to? Absolutely. Do I have the motivation? Yes, because parkour is theoretically everything I shouldn't be physically capable of doing. Whats stopping me? Spastic Diplegia. The muscles in my legs are tight as hell compared to what they should be, to the point where a small bend in my knees leads my heels to come up forcing me on the balls of my feet near my toes. Kicking? The lowest of low kicks is all I've got. Can't kick high at all without a knee bend, and then its just a knee strike. Stretching? HA. AHAHA. Thank goodness I can at least walk. To top it all off, currently no job with no income and no insurance. Life is [sarcasm] easy! [/sarcasm] Thankfully, I'm an optimistic dreamer who believes things can get better. I've looked at quite a few of your videos Tapp Bros and have dabbled in trying some of the stretching exercises, just to see what I can or can't do. /thestruggle I'm not gonna jump ahead and start trying kongs and backflips and whatever else is beyond, but I wanted to say I appreciate y'all for putting up easy to follow videos for people to understand and take into consideration at home. While my current situation is clearly less than stellar, I'm glad I can occasionally push myself with some of your prep exercises. I might not ever get the chance to make some clean jumps, but it feels good to try the exercises that lead to them anyway! Cheers from South Jersey. *salute*
LPPrince P.S.-Don't take all that flexibility for granted. Some of us could have it with proper training and exercise but lack the tools and help to make it happen. You got it through hard work and perseverance, so occasionally sit back, relax, and enjoy the ability to sit indian style without your legs going, "NOPE". :P
I feel so bad for you, man. That disease must suck. I wikied the disease and it turns out stretching will help (lessen the tightness). You won't be touching your toes anytime soon, but it will make you feel better and you'd become more flexible. Just do yoga, or have a stretching routine. It seems you do have a lot of free time, so don't rush the stretches, and take your time. Don't force any position. If you feel a stretch, just hold it for 30 seconds (even if your stretch doesn't look close to the given stretch position). Hope you get better
Loving the videos you guys put out. I do capoeira, teach a functional conditioning class, and jits and have done some of your tutorials. love the easy step by step videos. please keep posting. I'm a fan. oh yeah, my next venture is parkour, I'm old 38, but if my body saying keep going in going to keep trekking. thanks
TappBrothers I have a question, so I'm a tracuer and freerunner and I train almost daily, but I'm also on my high school Drumline and I'm carrying about a 60 pound drum and I only weigh about 117 pounds and that puts a lot of stress on my shoulders and lower back. Will that mess up my back and make it so I can't do parkour anymore? And or what can I do to get my back muscles and shoulder muscles stronger so I don't mess up my back and shoulders?
What is your guys favourite parkour shoe? I just ordered my second pair of Take Flight 1.0 Parkour shoes because I really liked them but they were getting to small! Pleas answer, I am Searching for freerunning shoes instead of parkour shoes!

I'm not sure about bodyweight workouts and I'm no expert but I'd say deadlifts for back
