Tony I’ve just bought and fitted Lomo large soft panniers £71 just want to say in all fairness Kriega stuff is good but for me buying the Lomo panniers was a no brainier I’ll use the money I saved on fuel ( I’ll need it) thanks for your vids.

Hi Tony, good video thanks. I bought the SW Motec soft bag system for my GS rather than going the hard luggage route. I used two 15 ltr bags on a recent 5 day tour around Scotland as I just needed overnight stuff for just myself staying in hotels. Although the SW bag system is waterproof I bought two black reflective waterproof backpack covers to be sure, and glad of that I was. Not for the waterproof properties, which I'm sure helped, but the covers kept all the mud and crud off the bags which I had to carry into a hotel each evening. I was 100% on roads all day but the amount of crud on the covers each day was such that I would'nt have wanted to carry the bags, wet and muddy indoors each night. Others on the tour had lift out bags from their hard luggage (mostly BMW vario equipment as it was a Motorrad tour) and to be honest, I think thats the way I'm going to invest by money for the next tour. If your going to use your luggage for outdoors stay or you're going to hit the trails, then soft luggage can be a good option, but I would think about the hard luggage with lift out bags if you're going to be staying in Hotels or B&Bs. Also one final note if you go soft luggage you will be that last guy still faffing in the car park in the morning fitting your stuff whilst all the hard luggage guys have already hit the road or sat watching you trying to outwardly say not worries take your time but inwardly cursing your endless faffing. Ride safe all.
Great review. These are really good looking bags in terms of aesthetics and quality. I love the fact that they make a bracket to attach to existing frames. I still don't understand why Kreiga doesn't build in a couple of lightweight metal loops where the fold down top clips into the side clip that could be used to secure the bags closed with a couple of mini padlocks and/or to the bike using a cable lock. Then the security would be so much greater without much effort at all.
I think that he knew that this existed. But Kriega could allready pre-installed created some metal wire that would go through the fabric somewhere around that middle strap. And two round metal rings attached to that steelcable. So everybody could use a padlock to secure the bags against opening by someone other then you. It is not 100 percent safe but atleast it would take someone atleast 60 seconds. Or use padlocks with an anti moving alarm. Or hell, Kriega could have created their own locking mechanism. It would take Kriega almost no extra investment while creating a much better secure system. If they are wise in their next models they adres this. So on security lvl it will get a bit closer towards alu panniers. Not to sing halleluja cause alu cases are also not that strong. But you just hope that a walking by dude not knows that he only has to use a tiny piece of metal and shove that into those tiny locks. And he is in. While your stuff is out.
Views from the Man Cave Me too. Went for two 32 litre bags so have same capacity both sides. Will be tested going round the Baltic next summer, and a few shorter trips before that. 👍
Hi Tony I’ve had a 5 litre strapped to crash bar for 4 years, 20,000 miles all year round use for waterproofs storage on my tiger never leaked or had any damage. I would call that tested. White liners are excellent idea . Great review of new range. Well worth the money. Cheers mate 👍
Hello from Canada. Great review with lots of thanks. I am subscribed since quite a while now (with notification bell). My bike is a 2019 Africa Twin Adveture Sports that I purchased in July 2021. My initial choice was GIVI GRT709 with the SW-MOTECH carriers. I already have the semi-hard OEM cases that came with the bike. I'm opting for the SW-MOTCH carriers because they can be EASILY secured AND removed from the bike when needed. In this way I can use the insert system on the bike for the OEM bags when doodling around the city and use the carriers and soft luggage for long hauls and backwoods rides (and the bike doesn't look like a tank when using neither cases!). Also I like the fact that the GIVI are lockable on the bike without any other attachment required. But the contents are NOT secured I believe. The other option that I am looking at is the KRIEGA OS range. But, comparing apples to apples the kit is about 700$ CDN more that the GIVI (!!!). Using the same SW carriers there is an additional adaptor plate (2x) that is required (@208$ CDN each!!!). Also a strap locking system must be added for security. Kriega suggests Stelcore @45$ CDN each(!!!). So the air is getting real thin at this point. But this secures BOTH the paniers AND the contents. If I go with OUTBACK MOTORTEK X-FRAME carriers, the cost for the KRIEGA kit would be about the same as for the GIVI kit BUT.... the carriers are permanently fixed to the bike causing an issue with the OEM cases! Also I am questioning my patience with straps and straps and straps..... I know that MOSKO (and LoneRider) are all the rage but there too I'm having respiratory problems ! My friends tell me that you only live once and buy what you like but this "hobby" is literally gonna "drive me"... to the poor house!:LOL::LOL::LOL: All this to say, just looking for opinions/experiences with the kits in contention.

Nice video......I have the Pro carriers and use the OS 32's but have decided to remove the OS Platform for the reason that the Platform is fastened to the Pro frame via 4 bolts/nuts so therefore those screws/platform are supporting the bag(s) rather than the frame (if you see what I mean). Now, I use the the bags fastened together as saddlebags via Os straps and then the bottom loop comes around the actual Pro frame. This way the bike (seat) and Pro Frame is supporting the whole luggage. I also have an OS Base which I use with 2x OS 18's (instead of the 32's)..I keep the Pro frame on, even though there's no need to and everything is easy on/off. Btw you will also find that with the Platform on you will struggle to get a screwdriver in to dismount the Pro frame.
Thanks, yep I get where youre coming from, but i'm happy that the mounting plate spreads the load. I have an OS base here to try out, but it needs the rear footpeg mounts removing (to use properly) and that means no side carriers so its not a long term solution for me. It also means losing the grab rails, and I find them kind of useful even though I don't carry pillions. I had these on my Tiger and now the 790, I keep a stubby screwdriver under the seat and have had no problem accessing the connectors
They’ve been really good so far, wearing well. A bit more fiddly than metal panniers if you are constantly accessing the contents, but not a chore. You can also get a lot more in them than you think

Minute 8.00...looks to me like the kriega platform sits very tide to the sw motech rack wich couse that the pannier buckle can't properly looks into place, if I am clear. Hi Mac, no its fine, once the buckle pushes through the hole theres no way to pull it out unless you physically tilt it by hand. Its hard to see in the video, but the buckle doesnt sit any lower if you push it through when the mounting plate isnt fitted to anything
Only for the info because it is almost not known. There is also an OS38 liter. When going for offset then you go for a OS38 and a OS32. For those who really need that extra carrying. I like to have all the sleeping gear inside one bag together with the hammock. Difficulty with that and a 32 liter bag. For the obvious reasons. I like to after a night of 3 or 4 to pick a hotel. Then you can leave one bag on the bike. When the parking is very safe. A question for you. Is it possible to fit that Rotopax at the inside of the Kriega platform ? The Rotopax will be resting at the tubes of the rack instead of flat against the platform i think. Then it will be a problem for the mounting-system ? I am in desperate need for carrying extra fuell on some parts of the journey. Now i have two old chrasbar bags fitted against the Engineguard from the Norden 901 Expedition. In there one 1.5 , 0.6 and a 0.4 liter fuell-bottle. The little ones are for cooking as you can guess. But it gives me a tiny amount of spare fuel. Every drop is better then pushing the bike. But at certain places of the journey i think that i need a extra of 5 till 6 liters. Getting that by a fuelbladder. But i really do not like those. But they work. But no shop that has them in stock currently. There is next to Rotopax also a brand Outlander that has an almost identical can. That hold 1.5 liter more then the one gallon Rotopax. But that is the largest that maybe could work. A bit afraid that when almost botteming out the shock that it will hit a large can then the 4.5 liter or 3 liter Rotopax. That would be a very dangerous situation.😬
Good solid bags, nice aesthetic but would have preferred if they put a simple locking mechanism like on the GIVI Gravel-T series of soft bags rather than all that kerfuffle with straps. It’s piece of mind when you stop at a cafe, shop etc..perhaps out of view of your bike to know that someone can’t just unstrap your panniers or even cut them off and walk off. I know there are security straps you can wrap around the panniers to prevent/deter such thefts but that’s more weight, cost and time. Plus it’s nice when you arrive at your destination, to just step off the bike, turn a key and away you go rather than having to mess around with straps for several minutes.
Yes thats one downside, but honestly once you’ve done it a few times its takes seconds to take them off. Kreiga make a security strap that adds very little weight or bulk.
Kriega makes nice stuff. I had the R25 rucksack, I was looking at their website I saw with the backing plate they mounted one of their smaller bags and a rotopak fuel can one side, something I'm looking into. I like your shirt. 😁 I

Thanks for all the info. Just one question. Is it possible to mount that rotopax gallon onto the back of the mounting plate on the near side horizontally using the dlx mounting system. There is alot of space behind it and it would allow the 32ltr bag to be mounted as normal too.
I did look at them but I can't remember if they offered the offset kit (35l & 25l) that time. I do know that they were a little harder to source in the UK at the time. The prices were similar, so having had kriega backpacks in the past and thinking about warranty return and support etc I plumped for the Kreiga
They make a clamp that fits to round pannier frames, but I don't know how they would line up with the Triumph frame though. TUBE FIT - all 16 - 20mm standard hoop pannier frames including TOURATECH, HEPCO & BECKER, GIVI, KTM, RALLYRAID PRODUCTS, SHIFT MANUFACTURING & METAL MULE
hello, just watched your video, i wanted the same sw-motech mounts, but thought i was gonna be stuck with their bags....i like these much better, but i have to ask, hows that 22L work out? seems kinda small.....especially if you take off for about a week or more....
So far it’s been ok, no long trips though. I went for this because it balanced out the width on the bike. This setup with a top box gives me enough space, plus I have a dry bag I can strap ton the pillion seat if need be

I'm a vertically challenged guy but don't want to miss the adventurer and long tours out there. My main concern is will the exhaust touch the bottom of the bags. Nice video.. How do they sit while riding the bike when they are empty? Are they semi rigid and hold their shape or floppy? Also, do you know their weight (2 panniers plus plastic plates)? Cheers
Thanks, yes they are ‘semi rigid’ in the sense that they don’t sag or droop. The good thing about them is when they are half empty for example, you just pull the straps in and compress them to the smaller size. When completely empty you can pull them right in to the backing plate. I would need to weigh them, not sure if the weights are on the website?
john Hamilton Not really no, given the offset pannier needed for the tiger the two size system works well. If I’d have gone for two the same it would have looked ‘lopsided’ when fully packed.
my only concern with soft luggage is (1) they cost as much as some hard luggage without the added advantages and (2) you can get soft luggage much cheaper that fits the bill (dry bags from an outdoor outfitter). Great review all the same.
True, but for some riders soft luggage has added advantages over hard. I agree some the more generic dry bags are great value, but not always straightforward to fit to a bike or maybe as resiliant?
It’s a cool cover. It helps air circulate under you in warm weather and also because it doesn’t completely crush when you sit on it it keeps your backside dry. It also adds a little bit of comfort.
The term "aircraft grade" always makes me laugh when it comes to manufacturers talking about their products; the pilot's Cup holder won't be made out of the same material as a strut for the landing gear, it's a bit if a useless phrase imo, even though I do get they mean: "tough and resilient and awesome!" 😄
Yep I hear you, but there is a definition for aerospace grade aluminium. They should just state if it’s 2024, 6061 or 7075 grade rather than jazz it up with ‘ Aircraft Grade’ 👍
I think the problem is with finding suitable side carriers. Kriega do a range of saddlebags for Triumphs. maybe because there isnt a decent carrier option?
So would I, it is being shown on this side purely for demonstration purposes. Its easier to film the right side of the bike when it's on the side stand.
The OS bags themselves are £249 & £229, so yes they are more expensive, but they are also different. The Lomo bags are great, i've reviewed those too ruclips.net/video/l6N5eUPuoL8/видео.html but its not comparing like for like to match these two together.
Theres a few reasons why someone would choose there panniers. As these were fitted onto SW-Motech pro side carriers I can just quickly pop the whole thing off if need be. But once you've removed them a few times it can be done quickly. I guess the question to answer before you buy is how often do you want to take your bags off and put them back on?
Very complicated contraption. Too many parts and too time consuming to fix and remove. Very bad design. It should be simply plug in fix. Think out of the box guys!
Really?! Its pretty simple and I can fit a carrier and side pannier on in 30 seconds. It’s an excellent design! I suspect you’ve not had to try and fit many soft panniers.....

There is a metal bracket on the top where you can feed a security strap or cable. kriega.com/adventure/steelcore-security-strap

Tony I am always slightly cautious around soft luggage and hot pipes, from your review I take it there were no issues
Non at all, the backing plates keep everything a safe distance from the hot pipe

Thanks Cotti, I still have them, but needed more space and something more robust. The A’s motech ones are good for running errands or quick days out but are only 15 ltrs
Soft bags are a great solution if you want one set of luggage for multiple bikes. My Kriega set, clamps onto any bike I've got.

Thanks for all the info. Just one question. Is it possible to mount that rotopax gallon onto the back of the mounting plate on the near side horizontally using the dlx mounting system. There is alot of space behind it and it would allow the 32ltr bag to be mounted as normal too.

I did look at them but I can't remember if they offered the offset kit (35l & 25l) that time. I do know that they were a little harder to source in the UK at the time. The prices were similar, so having had kriega backpacks in the past and thinking about warranty return and support etc I plumped for the Kreiga

Will the two side carrier hard bits attach correctly to the stock Triumph Bonneville pannier frames?
They make a clamp that fits to round pannier frames, but I don't know how they would line up with the Triumph frame though.

hello, just watched your video, i wanted the same sw-motech mounts, but thought i was gonna be stuck with their bags....i like these much better, but i have to ask, hows that 22L work out? seems kinda small.....especially if you take off for about a week or more....
So far it’s been ok, no long trips though. I went for this because it balanced out the width on the bike. This setup with a top box gives me enough space, plus I have a dry bag I can strap ton the pillion seat if need be

Great video as always Tony . Just one question, is it possible for these bags to be mounted on a Street twin/T120 ? I'm a vertically challenged guy but don't want to miss the adventurer and long tours out there. My main concern is will the exhaust touch the bottom of the bags. Mounting hardware/luggage racks no problem I'll fabricate one. Thank you in advance.
Its all down to how you mount them I guess, the are relatively tall bags, so to clear the exhaust I would imagine they sit higher than the seat?
Nice video.. How do they sit while riding the bike when they are empty? Are they semi rigid and hold their shape or floppy? Also, do you know their weight (2 panniers plus plastic plates)? Cheers
Thanks, yes they are ‘semi rigid’ in the sense that they don’t sag or droop. The good thing about them is when they are half empty for example, you just pull the straps in and compress them to the smaller size. When completely empty you can pull them right in to the backing plate. I would need to weigh them, not sure if the weights are on the website?

john Hamilton Not really no, given the offset pannier needed for the tiger the two size system works well. If I’d have gone for two the same it would have looked ‘lopsided’ when fully packed.
my only concern with soft luggage is (1) they cost as much as some hard luggage without the added advantages and (2) you can get soft luggage much cheaper that fits the bill (dry bags from an outdoor outfitter). Great review all the same.
True, but for some riders soft luggage has added advantages over hard. I agree some the more generic dry bags are great value, but not always straightforward to fit to a bike or maybe as resiliant?

What's the covering on your seat for?
It’s a cool cover. It helps air circulate under you in warm weather and also because it doesn’t completely crush when you sit on it it keeps your backside dry. It also adds a little bit of comfort.

Afternoon, what’s the front seat cover you have on the tiger? I’ve got the exact same set up but seats rock hard and that one looks great!
It’s from Cool covers and is a mesh which allows air to flow underneath, plus it adds a little more comfort

The term "aircraft grade" always makes me laugh when it comes to manufacturers talking about their products; the pilot's Cup holder won't be made out of the same material as a strut for the landing gear, it's a bit if a useless phrase imo, even though I do get they mean: "tough and resilient and awesome!" 😄
Yep I hear you, but there is a definition for aerospace grade aluminium. They should just state if it’s 2024, 6061 or 7075 grade rather than jazz it up with ‘ Aircraft Grade’ 👍

I think the problem is with finding suitable side carriers. Kriega do a range of saddlebags for Triumphs. maybe because there isnt a decent carrier option?

So would I, it is being shown on this side purely for demonstration purposes. Its easier to film the right side of the bike when it's on the side stand.

Thjey are nice and slim to keep the bike narrow, but still offer plenty of storage space
Too muck work for taking it on and off. There are many better options available right now from other brands. Still thank you for your video
They are much quicker to put on than i showed in the video (I wanted to make the process clear) but not as quick as a system that snaps on.
Kriega's stuff is always so fiddly.

Personally I didn’t find it particularly fiddly. It’s always going to be more work than ‘snapping’ in a hard pannier though
These seem less than convenient to get on and off the bike. Other systems are much better. The metal buckles are a pain in the neck.

The OS bags themselves are £249 & £229, so yes they are more expensive, but they are also different. The Lomo bags are great, i've reviewed those too ruclips.net/video/l6N5eUPuoL8/видео.html but its not comparing like for like to match these two together.
Why would anyone buy these over mosko moto. To get these on and off is just such a faf....
Theres a few reasons why someone would choose there panniers. As these were fitted onto SW-Motech pro side carriers I can just quickly pop the whole thing off if need be. But once you've removed them a few times it can be done quickly. I guess the question to answer before you buy is how often do you want to take your bags off and put them back on?
Very complicated contraption. Too many parts and too time consuming to fix and remove. Very bad design. It should be simply plug in fix. Think out of the box guys!
Really?! Its pretty simple and I can fit a carrier and side pannier on in 30 seconds. It’s an excellent design! I suspect you’ve not had to try and fit many soft panniers.....
