Match fixing is a high-stakes enterprise. High-stakes mean huge consequences, even if payouts aren't all that big. The lifetime bans are a shame, but if you don't make a harsh example out of the guilty parties, you only embolden those who think they can get away with it.
FourSight especially for the criminals doing it. You also have the fixers who if they fail and lose their organization hundreds of thousands of dollars because they couldn’t fix the match are dead men walking
Seriously. 99% of these players sold out the integrity of their game for literally a couple of dollars (Swag was reported to have made $40 for losing). If you are willing to sell out the game for a couple dollars what wont you do?
I agree with the bans this is real life if you break the rules you get in trouble and realizing you made a mistake doesnt mean you deserve the opportunity to come back
I think it is important to also take into account that when an organized crime group approaches you and says “you’re going to lose this match and I will pay you $5k” there is an unspoken “or I can break your hands and you won’t be playing anything for a long time.” They wouldn’t be paying these people to lose unless they were making or losing tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars off that result.
And the thing that's often missed in the Sox story is how the players were tempted by the offer because they were treated like absolute rubbish & paid _very_ little, while the team owners were so greedy & corrupt they would make Gordon Gecko blush. The owners engaged in every unfair practice in the book....price fixing, match fixing, signing players to insanely unfair contracts without legal or financial advice, segregation & racism was rife and they exploited it to the full (despite fielding mixed teams - seemed like an 'equal opportunity when it suits us' deal). And Jackson didn't even get any money in the scandal.... grossly unfair & shame on the HOF.

not talking about LoL's Promise on team AHQ in this video is the only thing I complain about here. I get that it can be hard to talk about, but it isn't something we should shy away from talking about.
When they ban you for life for something so bad you even denied doing and then you start trash talking the company who did it, it just shows how much you actually deserved it
As much as we want to keep the competitive integrity of any game in general there’s always the stereotype that “The poor wants to be Rich an d the rich wants to be richer”. And even though the newer generations hoping into Esports might be there for the stardom, fans, or even just to live out their dreams, There’s gonna be the one guy willing to do anything for some extra $$$
The thing that blows my mind the most about all these matchfixing situations is that it only took 1 matching fixing scandal to completely kill the Starcraft scene and it didnt do that to any of the other games
I'm actually for life bans in certain situations. I guess this is one of these situations. In football/soccer e.g. I just can't understand, how they are still allowing Suarez to play. He bit 3 people on the field, during games, caught by camera. He cheated and destroyed the dream of Ghana to go further in the world cup, buy stopping a ball, which was a clear goal, with both hands, and was shouting out of joy, after the other player missed the penalty - and he then was even treated as a national heroe by some people in Uruguay. Yet, he is still allowed to play in major tournamets after a (in my opinion) very small punishment each time and is even respected as one of the greatest players on the world. And always, when I bring this up, football fans start crying: "He's a good player though" - honestly, that makes me sick and is one of the main reason why I stopped watching that "sport". And if something similar was to happen to esports, I would very probably also let go of it..
I don’t see the problem with him blocking, he did it for his country, he got his punishment by getting sent off, the Ghana team had their chance to score, they fucked up, which wasn’t Suarez fault, I wouldn’t say what he did was right but anyone in his shoes would have done the same
@@druzzi9054 This is a completely sick response. Did you check your basic human decency at the door? Damn. OGSankai, you're completely right. Suarez should be gone for life.
@@druzzi9054 You didn't say he was wrong. You also said you don't see the problem, that anyone would do it, and that it wasn't his fault. Stop playing.
It's relieving that iBuyPower is just blacklisted in any Valve sanction events. Imagine if it is like in S.Korea where you'll have a large fine , a criminal case and a high possibility of jail time.
@@cyphi474 you know how society is.. you checked how ska looks? those other guys like dazed and shit probably wouldve beaten him up if he says something
Truth is that matchfixing is there still in 2019. Look at any LootBet sponsored tournaments. On these tournaments playing only few same teams bought by LootBet which are performing close matches. 1st half, team no1 is playing like gods, 2nd half team no2 comeback to 12:12, team no1 takes 2 rounds, team no2 takes 4 and that’s it. The teams constantly losing their mappicks and so on...only on LootBet events. Shame is that I can’t do anything with it. Just tell you guys, whos maybe dont know. Check HLTV forums for more info. It’s sad that things like this still happens and how person can sell his talent in this way.
Two of the players that were banned from baseball events forever. One of them was Shoeless Joe Jackson, who accepted money but didn't throw the games, he actually had the best world series out of anyone and the other was named Bucky weaver I believe.
but they cant... swag has joined like 5 different rosters, they'll play (non valve sponsored) tournaments and do very well, just for another team to poach all of his teammates because they want to play in the majors, and swag isn't allowed to compete. at first it just seemed shitty, but after like 7 of his teammates were poached, it became pretty sad.
Good coverage on the iBP scandal, but I feel that you missed the impact of Life's matchfixing scandal. That killed SC2 Proleague. That killed the KeSPA-run teams.
It's strange to think match fixing is almost a rite of passage for competitive games. Once people start putting up enough money to get a player to throw a game, the sport has become big enough.
he gets 20k RUB idk if its alot or anything, but definitely better than losing the whole tournament so i can see why he would do it even tho its scummy he was in trash tier team back then after all, so he wont stand a chance at winning the tournament anyway
@Azurkos The amount of money made only goes to show why the players should be banned. They were willing to sell out the integrity of the game for literally a couple of dollars.
@@TheBUGZNTA Back at a time when players had salaries like 100-200$ for the absolute best teams in the world (like Fnatic and NiP) and the biggest prize pools you had was shit like 1000$ and what not. @@SockLove Thats quite an exaggeration. The first major had a prize pool of a quarter million dollars. Sure players werent making the $20,000/m they are now but to pretend players were paid a couple of dollars is disingenuous.
@@TheBUGZNTA Go listen to Olof talk about how much Fnatic was paying him to play i 2014. Besides we are talking about IBP here, not Fnatic or any of the big teams, and this tourny wasnt a major
That is sadly the point, and why the lifetime bans have to stay. The trust between the promoters, the fans, the gamer, between everybody really, has been broken. If he has a terrible game and gets utterly destroyed in a match he "should" have won easily, we'll always wonder if he's throwing the game again. It sucks to lose the good or even best players in their respective game, but it's a choice they made and a punishment they deserve.
I was so bummed when Life got caught up for match fixing. I was super into SC2 at the time and he was one of my favorite players. Some of the stuff he pulled off blew my mind. I was never really that good at SC2, but I was a zerg main that really admired him for his talent, technical knowledge, and creativity.
They didnt even mention promise from Korea. He tried to kill himself because he finally refused to be part of the match fixing scandal his team was involved in. He was given no way out, and he barely survived jumping off a building. THAT is a big story.
People get killed over match fixing in conventional sports all the time and now that esports is getting so big its really important to establish how big of a deal this is
i wouldnt call the dig vs curse game match fixing or a scandal, sure the hosts didnt like it, but all 10 players willingly agreed and went through with it not for the money, but for a good time
@@NexusVal It's on their favor Example 1st place winner = 50.000$ 2nd place winner = 25.000$ U have 50-50 chance to win/lose But if u make some deal to split it? If u are in their shoe, what will u choose? Fighting hard and might lose and bring 25.000$ Or make a deal with 0% risk and 0% effort and 100% get 37.500$? Unless you 100% sure your team will easily win = most greedy peopel will choose the later Explain to me how that's not a match fixing? both teams got the favor, they can happily win 37.500$ without any risk, instead of fighting hard and might get 25.000$ as a losing side
@@lightningprowess6031 I dont think they agreed to split the earnings, they pretty much just decided to play one of the best of 5 games as an all mid game in the pre game lobby, and whoever won the tournament won, they did it for fun
I have a question about the IBP throw. Why did they make it so obvious? Why couldn't they have lost 16-14 in which one mistake cost them the match, or did they have to lose 16-3 in order to get the skins?
bans are there to make sure games are clean. asking bans to be lifted will allow players to do more match fixing if they know they will be unbanned in the future
In regards of the league of legends all mid thing. Yes they both desided to go for an all mid game. That could be consider some form of illegal deal but as far as championship points, qualifications or other in game gains it dident make any diffrense to any other team as both of those teams hade already qualified for the end season tournament and there was no more tournament points to give out after this event. And they never fixed the match so 1 side would win. Should they have done it in a professional game? Ofcourse not but a vast majority off the spectators on site and watching the stream absolutly loved it. And it is 1 of the most memorable events in league´s history.
I kind of get it-- you can't have it both ways: if you want esports to grow and become more recognized as not just a serious competitive sport, but as a spectator sport, these things have to be pulled out root and all.
Its kinda of shocking that “solo” ended up winning multiple dota 2 majors, is the captain of the last year’s best team in the world, which still is top5 in the world right now
Damn........ imagine being the team who lost to ibuypower thinking "YO we're really improving as a team!" but their opponents actually threw the game for money...
Matchfixing exists for sure cause of the amount of money being played. But since they were new at this (amateurs) they couldnt cheat correctly. Now with companies behind them and experience, who says they arent fixing games now.
It is worth mentioning that Solo, after the entire 322 story and tons of jokes about, recovered and became a captain of one of the best teams in dota 2 history, the ''Major Kings" VP
Great video, but a pretty huge match fixing scandal was missed out on. In Korea there was a Legends of Legends match fixing scandal in 2014 with AHQ. Probably the most significant part of the story is that one of the players, Promise, tried to kill himself as a result of it.
Both are equally bad, but match fixing has more negative impact the scene than cheating. People cheat cuz they want to win so bad despite the lack of skills. Its more like they try to win in a wrong way. While match fixing ones may have the skills to win easily, but lose intentionally for some cash grab, no respects for their opponents and the fans. It kills the whole scene really fast, since nobody cares about the games anymore if they already know the matches are rigged from the start, there's no competition nor excitement. The result is already determined.
@@tanphan1848 Different cases IBP was banned by Valve But Forsaken was banned by ESIC,not Valve Look at s1mple,he caught cheating 5-6 years ago and got ESL ban but not valve ban,so its not permanent in his career in IBP scandal,Valve released a official statement about the ban That's 100% permanent ban So its about some luck too,if Valve notice and care about it = u will get the permanent ban from it If they ignore it/dont care that much = you mostly will only get ban from the main organization, not Valve
Even if you were throwing, it never occurred to them to disguise it in anyway? Instead of leaving themselves to be completely swept making it obvious some matchfixing was at play?
Richard Lewis calls it a meaningless game but aren't those the games that are most likely to be thrown? They are only banned for as long as they are is because they lied about it for so long. Also, a 13-16 lose and nobody would have batted an eye.
Little sad that there is cover of no Korean SC broodwar matchfixing scandal that killed SC leagues in Korea which some arguably became the fundamentals of contemporary esports scene. I would highly recommend you guys to check it out at one point
2:00 I know I just started the video, but how can you tell if someone or a team is throwing a game? :L Also getting paid to lose seems like a double edge sword, you lose & get paid but if anyone finds out you basically kinda F'd yourself out of a career. I appreciate the stories you put out theScore. I learn alot about gaming :3 both the good & bad sides of it. Edit: I'm half way through with the video, and I think I see how folks throw now. Damn IBP, representing the U.S and... This weird shit happens. This doesn't make us look good man, and I don't even watch Esports games (for alot if reasons). A permanent ban forever? In a competition that you can get millions from? Well... I mean, they did do bad, its harsh but I think that's the point. You shouldn't do fix matches period. If you get caught then you should be punished according for you know what your doing is wrong. Play fair & everything is fine, but if you cheat or fix games then I see that's your fault. This is a business after all (Esports), like football & the NBA it'll always have controversy, it'll never go away but those who violate the rules should be brought to the light.
Because they were good at playing the game normally but they were not good at how to play the game badly without raising eyebrows. The things they did were way too obvious. Of course as the match-fixing matures now I think it is harder to know if someone is purposefully throwing a game.
I know a guy who knows a guy who had an uncle who supposedly paid a top tier fortnite duo to not qualify for the world cup...paid and threatened them. They did a good job not qualifying but still making it look legit. They got close a few times. He supposedly had a 6 figure bet riding on them not qualifying.
That clip of the CS:GO player explaining what he would do for another chance just made me think of Pete Rose. One of the GOATS but will never make the Hall of Fame even though everyone knows he should be there. Everyone knows he left it all out on the field. Everyone knows he'd make it right if he could. But at the end of the day, professional competition like this needs its integrity and breaking that is probably the biggest cardinal sin for the players.
You can tell there has been match-fixing from the start. Anytime you can bet on a winner, you can find gambling. And who does the most gambling in the world?
That league game at 8:00 it wasnt really matchfixing, the teams made a deal where they would split the money no matter who won so then the teams just hard trolled and played a game of aram (all random all mid) and fought all game. It just wasnt in secret that much they were just having some fun
Its still fixing the match The second place winner should only get 12.000$,but instead they get 16.000 with 0 risk and 0 stress And dont forget the other teams who doesnt get any money, what will they feel?If the two top team just playing around in the final and sharing the money without any effort/fight? Try to put yourself in other teams perspective Most of them are small teams who trying hard to get the money, and they going home with 0$ If they really want to have fun = they should share the money to all teams But they only shared it between them, that's not for 'fun' its for the money, easy 16.000$ without any risk/effort/stress
I feel bad for these guys, but punishments for cheating HAVE to be disproportionately bad so no one would dare try. Nobody should be doing the math "Well, if I throw I get $5K payday, if I get caught I'll just be sidelined for 3/4/5 years ..." Valve has made it clear: you can throw, but they'll need to pay you enough because it'll be the last game you ever play.
It's not too harsh at all, to ban matchfixing players for life. Even if it's a meaningless game, there is no difference. The only other way I could imagine, is literally a payback of the full price money ever won, at least 5 years of a ban, and a full blown investigation and trial because of fraud.
Dude it was the first time something like that happened in Csgo. They all were stupid dumb kids that didn't know how bad for the community it is to fix games. They should have gotten punished but not banned for life, especially it's unfair that skadoodle didn't get banned just because he didn't accept the skins, because he still helped fixing the game by trying to lose. But it really set a sign for other players, so it wasn't so bad after all
Unfortunately they were victim of circumstances that have not happened before and before this could spread to other top level areas of CS, had to impose an almost "over the top" punishment to deter future fixing, whether it's on LAN or online tournament
@@ttxalex7826 "They were stupid and didn't consider the consequences" doesn't count tho. If I just light your house on fire, without thinking about it or whatever, it's still the same thing and I would still get punished. You can't just say "oh, I didn't know" and then you don't get punished, that's not how it works.
@@ttxalex7826 I agree on skadoodle though, that's right. It may do make a difference, but there has to be some relation to the punishment the others received. Like still a ban for a serious time...
So skadoodle was a big name, and best player on the team. there was clear evidence he threw the match, but they didn't have solid proof he received anything from skins to money from throwing. A combination of him being such an elite player and big name left him to get away scot free. He is reallllly fucking lucky too, because if you go watch the actual match, he was by far the most egregious throwing the match. It was his actions alone that were the most suspicious. Others were actually getting kills and making it somewhat look compelling, but skadoodle literally had moments like one round he had flanked behind 2 guys, purposely aimed way off target and shot, and they turned around and killed him. He had moments like it all game. Anyways, pretty much him being so elite was why they never banned him. Hell, if you noticed, every league and event that had banned ibuypower players for their events, all left skadoodle off the ban lists. It was all done to where they did such hard punishments on all the others, they were able to save the career of Skadoodle. Anyways, he should've been banned with the rest of his team , and his team even admitted that he was one of the biggest culprits in deciding to throw the match. After they had thrown, and he was set to receive his skins and money, he decided to not take it at the last second.
I really wonder why they didn't do anything to Skadoodle. I am subbed to him on twitch and he seems like one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, but he did play really suspiciously in that match against netcode.
They say its because he didnt receive any skins. Some say its because they weren't sent yet. While other say he told the better not to give them to him. In reality he probably provided evidence to valve in order to not be banned. He was also a big name so perhaps thats why he was let go. Either way though he should be banned as in the VOD its clear he was throwing. If he didnt want to throw he should have either A: Told somebody B: not played the match Considering we have never seen evidence as to who convinced everybody to throw they should have all been given the same punishment. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes. IMO they should all be permbanned for hindering the integrity of the game.
Bsck in 2008 I played on a sponsored world of warcraft arena team. We threw a MLG tournament in Florida for $3,000 which resulted in a grand each. Doesnt sound like much but this was a lot back then.
I think any logical person can see why what they did was wrong, but I look at it a little differently, if they had salaries, and were making a good amount of money, I dont think players would feel the need to do this. Yeah the white sox players did it, but in a different era where they didnt make what they do now. Its hard out here being a esports player, a lot of them aren't big streamers or youtubers so they have to rely strictly on their tourney winnings.
Dont underestimate people's greed man Why u think a lot of politicians stole our money even though they got a big salary? Because they want more and more For example.it;s a tournament with 100,000$ price And someone tell u to throw it for 150.000$(big betting related) A lot of 'honest' players wont do that, but some greedy players will do it Sometimes its not about money, its about greed Yes most of them can change, but some of them will still more care about the money
When a team called “ibuypower” fixes a match.... we probably should of saw that coming....

Go onnnnnn
what happened?
When they ban you for life for something so bad you even denied doing and then you start trash talking the company who did it, it just shows how much you actually deserved it
As much as we want to keep the competitive integrity of any game in general there’s always the stereotype that “The poor wants to be Rich an d the rich wants to be richer”. And even though the newer generations hoping into Esports might be there for the stardom, fans, or even just to live out their dreams, There’s gonna be the one guy willing to do anything for some extra $$$
Most of these stories have one thing in common, the players threw too obviously because of their egos. No one would suspect iBP if they lost 16:14.
The bet was set so tat they wouldn't get more than 4 rounds, thats why they threw that obviously
The thing that blows my mind the most about all these matchfixing situations is that it only took 1 matching fixing scandal to completely kill the Starcraft scene and it didnt do that to any of the other games
Stephen Steel working with Funny Valentine can be considered as the first matchfixing in the history
Suarez should be gone for life.
iamihop11 I did say he isn’t right
@@druzzi9054 You didn't say he was wrong. You also said you don't see the problem, that anyone would do it, and that it wasn't his fault. Stop playing.
iamihop11 yea it sure as hell isnt his fault Ghana missed the penalty
Theres no way they didn't put ibuypower case here :v
25:19 they really synced the video with the narrator's voice lmao
"Swaaag"
It's relieving that iBuyPower is just blacklisted in any Valve sanction events.
Imagine if it is like in S.Korea where you'll have a large fine , a criminal case and a high possibility of jail time.
19:05 valve felt confident with leaving him ubanned cuz he didnt accept the skins
He still knew about it, thats enough.
@@cyphi474 you know how society is.. you checked how ska looks? those other guys like dazed and shit probably wouldve beaten him up if he says something
the amount of videos on the ibuypower is astounding
Well they're the only one (I think) was caught (assuming there are others that match fix) so...
I didn't realise that there was matchfixing in esports all the way back in 1919
This cymbal sound tilts me so hard every time I hear it.
Lifetime bans are fair. They should consider themselves lucky for the fact they are still allowed to play at all.
but they cant... swag has joined like 5 different rosters, they'll play (non valve sponsored) tournaments and do very well, just for another team to poach all of his teammates because they want to play in the majors, and swag isn't allowed to compete. at first it just seemed shitty, but after like 7 of his teammates were poached, it became pretty sad.
@@CatfishBradley you say they can't before immediately saying they can. I stand by my statement.
Good coverage on the iBP scandal, but I feel that you missed the impact of Life's matchfixing scandal.
That killed SC2 Proleague. That killed the KeSPA-run teams.
True, it pretty much killed the pro SC2 scene in Korea.
It's strange to think match fixing is almost a rite of passage for competitive games. Once people start putting up enough money to get a player to throw a game, the sport has become big enough.
Makes only 332 bucks and gets banned for a year OMEGALUL
he gets 20k RUB idk if its alot or anything, but definitely better than losing the whole tournament so i can see why he would do it even tho its scummy he was in trash tier team back then after all, so he wont stand a chance at winning the tournament anyway
It was a completly different scenario and this money for a lot of them was important. Its easy to look at it now and be like "oh they sold out for so little" but back then it was a lot.
Remember this video when you watch your favorite team suddenly make super basic mistakes that nobody at their level would EVER make. eg TSM vs TL
No need to unban, ban for life is perfect for those who throw.
8:47 damn. Betting against your own team & making sure the lose? Man, that's incredibly dishonorable 😞
And only got 322 bucks in exchange for a ban
@@smilingcat3851
Actually he never got the money
The betting site canceled it
They didnt even mention promise from Korea. He tried to kill himself because he finally refused to be part of the match fixing scandal his team was involved in. He was given no way out, and he barely survived jumping off a building. THAT is a big story.
People get killed over match fixing in conventional sports all the time and now that esports is getting so big its really important to establish how big of a deal this is
If you think it hasn't happened in esports you are mistaken. Criminal enterprises run esports betting in the same way they run sports betting.
@@TheBUGZNTA I don't doubt it
i wouldnt call the dig vs curse game match fixing or a scandal, sure the hosts didnt like it, but all 10 players willingly agreed and went through with it not for the money, but for a good time

@@jaylucino8890 match fixing is rigging the outcome of the game or match in your favor, this isn't that
@@NexusVal
It's on their favor
Example
1st place winner = 50.000$
2nd place winner = 25.000$
U have 50-50 chance to win/lose
But if u make some deal to split it?
You get 37.500$
That's 0% risk and win-win solution
So instead losing and get 25.000$,u 100% will get 37.500 without any stress/effort
Is that not match fixing for you?
If u are in their shoe, what will u choose?
Fighting hard and might lose and bring 25.000$
Or make a deal with 0% risk and 0% effort and 100% get 37.500$?
Unless you 100% sure your team will easily win = most greedy peopel will choose the later
Explain to me how that's not a match fixing?
both teams got the favor, they can happily win 37.500$ without any risk, instead of fighting hard and might get 25.000$ as a losing side
Out Of Control Gaming they made a whole different vid on that
yeah i think they had to have less than 5 rounds to get maximum amount of skins and shit.
bans are there to make sure games are clean. asking bans to be lifted will allow players to do more match fixing if they know they will be unbanned in the future
"ball gloves" were never put down for a mouse and keyboard. Remember that
8:12 Got to love how he doesn't seem the least bit sorry that he was caught.
Unfortunately some people really are that blind to how much things matter
In regards of the league of legends all mid thing. Yes they both desided to go for an all mid game. That could be consider some form of illegal deal but as far as championship points, qualifications or other in game gains it dident make any diffrense to any other team as both of those teams hade already qualified for the end season tournament and there was no more tournament points to give out after this event. And they never fixed the match so 1 side would win. Should they have done it in a professional game? Ofcourse not but a vast majority off the spectators on site and watching the stream absolutly loved it. And it is 1 of the most memorable events in league´s history.
322 without even finishing this video
The vibes on this video sure is horrendously sad.
I kind of get it-- you can't have it both ways: if you want esports to grow and become more recognized as not just a serious competitive sport, but as a spectator sport, these things have to be pulled out root and all.
Its kinda of shocking that “solo” ended up winning multiple dota 2 majors, is the captain of the last year’s best team in the world, which still is top5 in the world right now
I know I am going to sound absolutely nuts but that sample of casino slots sound like a sample that's been used in something over and over again. 1:05
Skadoodle not being banned is my biggest shock in ESports history.
Meh. I'm kinda glad that he didn't get banned because then we wouldn't see his potential. Could've said for others but demn.
Damn........ imagine being the team who lost to ibuypower thinking "YO we're really improving as a team!" but their opponents actually threw the game for money...
They eventually became top 3 NA anyways under CLG lol.
Matchfixing exists for sure cause of the amount of money being played. But since they were new at this (amateurs) they couldnt cheat correctly. Now with companies behind them and experience, who says they arent fixing games now.
Nobody says they arent fixing games now.
More of this, less of those "THE OK SIGN IS WHITE SUPREMACY"-videos. Okay? Okay.
That's what has people triggered about the OK sign? Dear god, I thought humanity couldn't get any stupider.

It is worth mentioning that Solo, after the entire 322 story and tons of jokes about, recovered and became a captain of one of the best teams in dota 2 history, the ''Major Kings" VP
Awesome video!
Man that lifetime ban was way too harsh even some murderers are given second chances
And some of them killed another person after they free
Great video, but a pretty huge match fixing scandal was missed out on. In Korea there was a Legends of Legends match fixing scandal in 2014 with AHQ. Probably the most significant part of the story is that one of the players, Promise, tried to kill himself as a result of it.
it sucks that the best match fixes are the ones we won't know about
as soon as i read the title i knew, ibuypower
Forsaken cheats - gets a 5 year ban
ibuypower throws match - gets lifetime ban
where is the justice???
Both are equally bad, but match fixing has more negative impact the scene than cheating.
People cheat cuz they want to win so bad despite the lack of skills. Its more like they try to win in a wrong way.
While match fixing ones may have the skills to win easily, but lose intentionally for some cash grab, no respects for their opponents and the fans. It kills the whole scene really fast, since nobody cares about the games anymore if they already know the matches are rigged from the start, there's no competition nor excitement. The result is already determined.
@@tanphan1848
Different cases
IBP was banned by Valve
But Forsaken was banned by ESIC,not Valve
Look at s1mple,he caught cheating 5-6 years ago and got ESL ban
but not valve ban,so its not permanent in his career
in IBP scandal,Valve released a official statement about the ban
That's 100% permanent ban
So its about some luck too,if Valve notice and care about it = u will get the permanent ban from it
If they ignore it/dont care that much = you mostly will only get ban from the main organization, not Valve
Even if you were throwing, it never occurred to them to disguise it in anyway? Instead of leaving themselves to be completely swept making it obvious some matchfixing was at play?
well they need to get a certain scoreline to make the most $$$
If they were smart they wouldn't fix in the first place. Your career isnt worth $40 *cough* brax * cough*.
Shout out to the guy in the middle struggling to pick up spaghetti
This feels like the chart party series by jon bois. Really high quality video.
2:00 I know I just started the video, but how can you tell if someone or a team is throwing a game? :L
Also getting paid to lose seems like a double edge sword, you lose & get paid but if anyone finds out you basically kinda F'd yourself out of a career.
Of course as the match-fixing matures now I think it is harder to know if someone is purposefully throwing a game.
iBP: *throws*
Skadoodle: *Tunak Tunak Tun Dance*

thescore esports makes the best epsports docs hands downnnn
Corruption in sports or esports appears to be common in Asia
That league game at 8:00 it wasnt really matchfixing, the teams made a deal where they would split the money no matter who won so then the teams just hard trolled and played a game of aram (all random all mid) and fought all game. It just wasnt in secret that much they were just having some fun
Its still fixing the match
The second place winner should only get 12.000$,but instead they get 16.000 with 0 risk and 0 stress
And dont forget the other teams who doesnt get any money, what will they feel?If the two top team just playing around in the final and sharing the money without any effort/fight?
Try to put yourself in other teams perspective
Most of them are small teams who trying hard to get the money, and they going home with 0$
If they really want to have fun = they should share the money to all teams
But they only shared it between them, that's not for 'fun'
its for the money, easy 16.000$ without any risk/effort/stress
Months after this video, Australia has their own match fixing scandals (both include the same gaming companies/communities)
I feel bad for these guys, but punishments for cheating HAVE to be disproportionately bad so no one would dare try.
Nobody should be doing the math "Well, if I throw I get $5K payday, if I get caught I'll just be sidelined for 3/4/5 years ..."
Valve has made it clear: you can throw, but they'll need to pay you enough because it'll be the last game you ever play.
I’ve seen this all the time on Esports on Bovada this doesn’t make no sense
@@ttxalex7826 I agree on skadoodle though, that's right. It may do make a difference, but there has to be some relation to the punishment the others received. Like still a ban for a serious time...
@@camkraw893 actually, they were victims of their own stupid decisions.. no circumstances forced them to fix their match, it was them, and them only.
So why did Skadoodle end up getting away with it? Was he anything to do with the scandal?

If he didnt want to throw he should have either
A: Told somebody
B: not played the match
Considering we have never seen evidence as to who convinced everybody to throw they should have all been given the same punishment. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes. IMO they should all be permbanned for hindering the integrity of the game.

Bsck in 2008 I played on a sponsored world of warcraft arena team. We threw a MLG tournament in Florida for $3,000 which resulted in a grand each. Doesnt sound like much but this was a lot back then.
you could make this a stand-alone documentary and call it “the dark streets and back alleys of esports”
Dont underestimate people's greed man
Why u think a lot of politicians stole our money even though they got a big salary?
Because they want more and more
For example.it;s a tournament with 100,000$ price
And someone tell u to throw it for 150.000$(big betting related)
A lot of 'honest' players wont do that, but some greedy players will do it
Sometimes its not about money, its about greed
Yes most of them can change, but some of them will still more care about the money
