    I live in the US, I've never played any form of billiards with any seriousness, I think I happened upon snooker randomly on RUclips, and I really am blessed to have found Ronnie and this video, absolutely mind boggling that this is even possible, and to top it off, one of the frames was a maximum, absolutely insane

      Congratulations for discovering snooker. To actually play on a full size table is quite daunting. I used to play once a week for years and never even made a 40 break!

    • @alancarlton8380
      @alancarlton8380 Год назад

      You say you've played billiards at some time then found Snooker but a lot of older or ex-players started with billiards (retired legend Steve Davis-The Plumstead potter was a billiard champion before snooker) because it's a good way to learn the table&it's angles, as well as not looking hopeless to others why you learn, then nominated-billiards practice will give you the Ronnie O'Sullivan touch in about 15 to 20 years (it's how I learnt and once mastered-snooker is child's play)

    • @nuntana2
      @nuntana2 10 месяцев назад

      Think they're talking billiards (table sports) in general as opposed to three-cushion billiards that earlier Brits will know well. Brandon; growing up with snooker in the 70s & 80s was pretty special, always on TV on a Sunday (no computers, phones etc) and it got big coverage. There were some super-slow players back then (Terry Griffiths V Eddy Charlton etc) which were tedious to watch, and though there were greats the standard of play is much better today. But, yes, Ronnie is 30 years plus a pro and is back at number one playing as good as he did here. Remarkable.

      O'sullivan is the greatest. The greatest current player and in my opinion the greatest of all time. But as long as he lags Hendry's 36 ranking wins there will be legitimate debate. Also worth bearing in mind the 7 centuries Hendry had in one match to beat Doherty 10 - 5 in the 1994 Uk Snooker Championship.

    • @zaka2630
      @zaka2630 6 лет назад +13

      Are you still mentioning Hendry's 36 ranking wins? Ronnie will butcher that in no time. Ronnie IS THE GREATEST EVER.

    • @darrenskinner3711
      @darrenskinner3711 6 лет назад +8

      Zakaria Youncha lol...you'll get no argument from me on that score...I believe my position was quite clear in that I believe Ronnie is the best of all time. Past and present. But only a real jerk would refuse to engage in the debate or to at least recognise the areas of debate that lend legitimacy to opposing opinions and views. 36 ranking wins, 7 world championships and a decades worth of absolute dominance(5 world's and 5 masters in a row respectively certainly constitutes a high degree of dominance in my books) are in my opinion certainly areas of legitimate debate. The truth is that even at 33 ranking events to Hendry's 36 and 66 tournament wins in total to Hendry's 75 I would still rank Ronnie as the best of all time if he quit today. I just believe he has done enough to warrant it. But that is still just an opinion and given the actual stats that are out there to either support or challenge it with regards Hendry's corresponding position in any such ranking of snooker all time greats it is not indisputable. Another little food for thought fact is that Hendry's had a 147 against Ronnie but never the other way round. Personally though I think that for all the criticism that Ronnie gets as far as his mental or psychological approach to the game is concerned, especially when compared to the praise that this same aspect elicits in respect of Hendry during his time as a pro, it is still undeniably true that Ronnie has stuck it out in the game while Hendry threw in the towel far earlier than he needed to as far as potential further wins were concerned. So if Ronnie does indeed go on to lift more ranking titles than Hendry it certainly will itself tell a story. But if Ronnie doesn't pick up another two worlds at least you can be sure Hendry will be right there whispering in Ronnie's ear "I'd still rather have my trophy cabinet than yours Ron" and he might just be right...greatest of all time or not.

    He’s the reason why I took up the game, sheer class, and that’s when he was 15, I would see his name in the evening mail, that’s how long I have followed his career, like I say I know talent when I see it, and even though Hendry was the king of snooker at the time, I knew Ronnie would have his time, so it doesn’t surprise me all the records he set, he was a phenom in the making and I watched it happen.

      Mate its this - Total dedication to the game, forcing himself to learn how to play left handed at a young age to add another dimension to his game, the eye sight of an eagle and again through sheer determination learn how to control the white as though he uses his mind to direct it .... he is the best there is, the best that ever has been and in trying to second guess the future the best that ever will be because he started it all even now some of his students are playing the odd left handed shots, there has been champions throughout the history of the game but this is the first master cue-ist and he always will be !! :-)

Lost 9 years of his career partying due to lack of discipline and appetite and still racked up these numbers and he's still playing....... Returning to world number 1 at 43 after winning the inaugural coral series then winning the world's for the 6th time in a format he does not enjoy are just some other achievements....... Is it me or does the camera man, or switcher, or editor, or whatever the fuck, employ the pocket cam way too much. I can sense the speed of the shots and see from above how the ball goes in; I don't need a pocket cam. I'd much rather watch "Where's the cue ball going?".

    - Contrast in the hall is not perfect. I think some red color can change to better for watchers.

    Misleading title - I was expecting a whitewash with back-to-back centuries. Nonetheless, a pleasure to watch.

    Forward 16 years later, 22 Grand Slams later and hundreds of centuries later, Ronnie is still world number one, still winning majors in 2023 and Ronnie still can't win the Sports Personality of the Year 2023 according to BBC voters who elected for Mary Earps (!😂) Totally scandalous.
