      I think Harper took LESS money with the Phillies. Hear me out. Nats offer was 300million for 10 years. Phillies was 330 million for 13 years. That is only an extra 10 million per year, for an extra 3 years. Peanuts to him. He could have easily countered with the Nats with 330 million for 11 years. easily. There was a lot more than money involved. I think he wanted a change of scenery.
      Once you have 300 million, plus what he has already earned in his career prior to that contract, you don't take on a 3 year, 30 million dollar contract. There had to have been other factors involved.

    1:04 -- That's a respectable stat line. Harper walks A LOT!!!! he makes pitchers take him deep into counts and hits for a lot of power. I like players who can get themselves on base a lot, it means they are team players like Ichiro. Harper scored a lot of runs himself by being on base for his team mates to drive him in.

  • @graham6132
    @graham6132 2 года назад +5

    Bryce Harper swings like it’s still the 1970s. You don’t need to lunge at the pitcher and swing out of your shoes to hit a homerun, they are throwing 95mph, you can basically bunt a homerun, hence why all the modern great HR hitters like Bonds, Pujols, Sosa, etc. all had/have extremely short, compact swings.

      In Harper’s case, he had nothing but complimentary things to say about DC fans and the organization (even though the club gave him what turned out to be two comparatively cheapskate offers)....yet they boo him unmercifully.
