I just purchased my first AW last week and got the 41mm thinking it would be perfect since I will mostly use it for fitness and sleep tracking. My wrist size is 165mm and it fits perfectly, not too small but feels comfortable. However, this morning I was thinking "Hmm maybe the big one would look better and have better battery life" and booked an appointment to exchange for the 45mm one. After watching your video, I cancelled the appointment and realised the 41mm is for me and will probably be more comfortable as well. Thanks for the great video!

I was thinking of buying the 45mm because I like the idea of having a bigger screen on an Apple Watch, but I’ve been so used to getting the smaller versions (I had a 38mm and 40mm) so I just got the 41mm and I have zero complaints

Thank you for the video! This is the most helpful and informative video I came across while researching what size Apple Series 7 watch to get. I have a 170mm wrist and ultimately went with the 41mm. The watch looks good on my wrist and with the narrow bezel the display is plenty big. I tried on a 45mm before ordering and it just looked too big on me. The 41mm looks like a watch that just happens to be a smart watch. That's the look that I wanted.

I originally bought the 45mm and wore it for about a week and felt like it was hurting my wrist. It was really bulky. I did love the screen because of how big it was but I knew the 41mm would be better for me! I still wish there was an in between size but oh well i’m glad i have the 41mm now :)

FINALLY!! I have been searching all morning for a comparison of the sizes from a realistic / usability/ wearable standpoint. Pages and pages.. told me NOTHING. Not even the actual SIZES of the watches. Husband was searching also. I've been wanting an Apple Watch for years and deciding now to pull the trigger. My writs are slightly smaller than yours so going for the 41. Thank you from a middle aged, only somewhat tech-y mom.

Thank you for this. I’m at about 155mm wrist size and coming from a series 2 at 42 mm and there’s so much hype over the 45mm I was feeling pressured but afraid it would be too big. After seeing it on your wrist and you actually USING it (no one seems to show) plus your real world experience about the smaller one fading into the background of your life it made my decision.

  • @XxMsrSzprzxX
    @XxMsrSzprzxX 2 года назад +120

The 41mm is more aesthetic and proportional. I have 18cm wrists and I went for the 41. The 45 was too much, felt bulky and the Milanese strap in 45 is wider than the 41's and that strap alone was too uncomfortable. It feels like the Apple Watch gets designed in the smaller size first, then gets beefed up for the larger screen, it loses the harmonious proportions and its those proportions that make the 41 look better too in my opinion. These are much bulkier feeling than traditional watches and a totally different shape from most other normal watches, which could be worn at a larger size or the same without feeling as bulky. I also appreciate the engineering challenges more in smaller tech, feels much cooler. The 41mm even uses a special metal-encased battery as opposed to the normal looking lithium package battery. The former is also technically less likely to bulge out over time from swelling which normally pushes screens up, but that's probably a problem only for much bigger batteries.

I went from a 44mm S4 to a 45mm S7 at the weekend. The 45 seemed the logical choice as i was more than happy with the 44. Im still not convinced i like the larger screen. It just seems strange, but maybe i just need to get used to it. Physically im happy with the 45, but visually im not 100% convinced yet. My issue is with my old space grey there was a difference between case and screen it seemed slimmer. With the S7 being (or looking) all black it looks more like a slab of plastic. But here’s the thing. Your video almost convinced me to get it changed to a 41mm (not that there is any in stock),but then i noticed the thickness is the same with both. So your argument about catching on a shirt sleeve or jeans pocket (ive never had my wrist in mine) seems just as likely to happen with both. So im giving it a few more days and hoping i can feel better about it.
EDIT. Ok, you were right :-). I took the 45 back and got a green 41mm. Smaller screen obviously, but yes, blends in better. Closer to my old 44mm in looks as well, so happier now.

Well, based on the video, I felt like the 41mm looked pretty tiny on your 160mm wrist, and my wrist is 190mm, so now I feel a lot better about ordering the 45mm one where before I felt a lot of doubt and uncertainty. Thank you!

Many watch makers have 40/42/44 sizing, or 41/43/45/47 sizing, etc. Garmin has 42/47/51 sizes. If they can do it I'm sure Apple could if they want to. I hope they consider it.

I completely agree the 43 would be the sweet spot; I went into an Apple store today with the 45 on my wrist and 1 week to decide between it and the 41.... the visual/interactive experience can't be beat on the big guy, but even with the smallest of the bands on the larger face (sports and nike and braided loop) i am fairly certain that the light n breezy seamless feel of the smaller might be the wiser choice for my 3-5 x/week running habit.... I can NOT get over the gorgeous display and already know I'll be sacrificing that experience by sizing down to the more scale 'appropriate' 41 for my woman's 5'2" / 140 mm wrist size.

After your last video (series 6 watch size) I went for the 41mm series 7. I have 155-157mm ish wrist. I think they need to change their guide to 130 - 175mm and 180 to 220mm. Would make it so much easier for people. Coming from a Garmin Fenix 5 it is way lighter and smaller overall. I still use my Garmin as it feels more solid for when I'm out with the dog or out shooting (clay pigeons) and I feel the Garmin software is better for logging hikes and has a better integration with Strava.

Your vid was by FAR the most helpful wrt making a choice between the 41 and 45 mm options. According to the size chart I could wear either as well, and have been hearing nothing but rave reviews of how fab the larger one looks Made me feel regretful over not getting the larger one when it was the clear winner in so many flashy ways, but a) I'm visually impaired and would be using simple taps or voice commands to it, and b) i'm grown-ass enough to realise finally that comfort is key.

This is a great video, I have watched it a few times already LOL. I have similar wrists to yours. I have both sizes with me now, and going back and forth between them, and it’s hard to decide which to keep.
While I initially preferred the 45mm due to its font size and usefulness for typing, it’s too big for all-day use and I don’t want to bump it around either. To me it looks more like a computer whereas the 41mm looks more like a watch.
The watch faces are also more suited to the 41mm; I feel the 45mm faces have too much excess space. I’m still evaluating though. It’s funny how most of the other reviews are kind of encouraging people to go for 45mm.

I recently ordered a 41mm series 7, in my excitement I started watching videos and then started to question if I made the right choice with the size. I have a 160mm wrist, and after watching your video I feel much much better about my purchase. I don’t really like huge watches and I think the 45mm would be too much and get in the way.
    Very very helpful video, thanks!

Honestly the edge to edge screen makes all the difference, it doesn’t feel like a small watch by any means once you have it on. Also some people like to use a case with their watch which adds some additional bulk, so it’s nice to have that leeway.

I went in store and was able to look at the 45mm and while the screen looked really nice it looked big and bulky. I’m a 6’3 skinny guy with about a 7in wrist or 177mm and I decided to order a 41mm because I think I like the more subtle smaller size. I wasn’t able to see it in store as they didn’t have any displayed so I don’t know exactly how small in comparison it looks but I’ll see when t gets here. If I do end up needing bigger I’ll just get trade it in store.

I’m getting an Apple Watch for Christmas as a first time user from my parents as I have practical uses for it as I’m a junior in college and own all apple products. That and my wrists are small, so a normal non-smart watch it’s hard to find a watch that actually fits my wrist without sliding up and down my forearm because it’s too big and doesn’t fit properly. I went to the Verizon store to try on sizes and I thought for sure I would be going for the 41mm, but it looked way smaller and for me made my proportions look silly. I tried on the 45mm and it was perfect. Looked better in terms of balancing my proportions and just felt better as well. So, morale of the story is that even if you have small wrists like myself you may be surprised with going for the bigger size. It’s all based on personal preference and what you think suits you better :)
