My Apple Watch series 2 died in 2020. The battery expanded and popped the display off the front. Just a few days ago finally bought the S9 45mm watch and I love it. Glad to see the battery is significantly improved
It should’ve be so bad because I bought them new and never really used them. Unfortunately, there’s no way to view the exact number on those other models because Apple never added that feature on the last OS that was supported on the older series Apple Watch.
I’ve had my series 8 since day one and I’ve been charging it every night since then, my battery is now at 94% of capacity but I’ve noticed that with watchOS 10 I can get through a day and finish it with 20% of battery while with watchOS 9 I finished the day with 30/35% of battery
I just did a 24 hour real world test wearing both the Ultra 2 and series 9 both connected to separate iPhones. Over a 24 hr period the Ultra lost 29% battery life and the series 9 lost 56%. So my test align with what Apple states that the Ultra gets about two times better battery life. As a side note the Ultra is on the second day of no charge and still at 37%. I’m going to see if I can squeeze another day out.
Had my SE2 for a couple of months now, and I was actually sort of thinking it had better battery life since updating to WatchOS 10, but I didn’t think it’d be this improved!

I stopped using apple watches after my last one, the Series 5, would die in less than 8 hours. I'd put it on my wrist at 1:30pm before work, by 2pm when I got to work it would be at 90%, and by 10pm when I got off would ALWAYS be dead. I just ordered a Series 9 41mm to give the Apple Watch 1 more try after over a 3 year break. If this battery doesn't last I'm never buying another one again.
Why would anyone buy a watch that needs to be recharged daily. If you went on a hiking trip for a long weekend the watch would be useless. Unless of course you packed a battery back up. So ridiculous
my apple watch series 8 battery life was incredible when I first bought it on watchOS 9. Updating to watchOS 10 it was still fine and lasted a whole day on 50% but after updating to watchOS 10.1 beta 3 battery life had been absolutely terrible, it went from 100% to 30% in less than 6 hours

I have series 1 and 2 Apple Watches as refurbished a few years ago. I did an upgrade towards SE(1) last year in early April 2022. Almost a year of using the SE that I accidentally shattered the glass top with cracks. I gotten SE(2) Apple Watch in silver grey with a small watch band. I put on an another band on the watch because of my wrists are big bone underneath my skin. I liked a little bigger size on the watch bands. SE(1) and 2 are about the same except for the color. The first SE is space grey which I really liked the color the 2nd one is silver grey just liked series 1 & 2. I kept it on the small size of the watch towards 40mm so that I can used the different watch bands that I do have.
i have the 5 & this showed me that between that and the 8 there’s actually not much improvement on battery at all so i dont think ill upgrade for a while yet
could you also do one where notifications come in and other distractions also come? that would probably cut the time for most in half but that imo would be more realistic
Good video. I wasn‘t expecting that it would be so bad. Compared to my Garmin which lasts me easy over 2 weeks that’s a shame. And I‘m using it for sport a couple of times also. But also the newer amoled Garmins last much longer with always on. With a lot of models you can get a batterylife of 7 days or more🤪
I’m debating with Apple Watch I should get I sold me se2 to buy a 8 45mm or 9 45 mm I wanted the 8 but the 9 has more battery life and the double tap finger is not bad because I sweat a lot it’s just $20 different

Thanks very helpful video I had watch 4 and I was. Considering to change battery but based on your video now I am considering to go to SE2 instead of changing battery as it’s battery change isn’t worth it
All I need is 12 hours of battery, ultra is for people that study stuff al day and don’t live at home which is fair , s9 is a significant change for most
It's really strange, I have AW 7 and I have checked your videos for wOS 8, 9 and 10. And it looks like we have worse battery every release for AW7. It was 14 Hours for wOS 8, 11+ hours for wOS 9 and already 10+ hours for wOS 10... it's really strange, it looks like they really push buyers to update AW after several years of use... not sure whether I should upgrade wOS to 10 :( because now with wOS 9, I have exceptional battery life, w/out oxygen sensor and always on display it's around 40 hours from a single charge (battery 95%).
I came here cause I have a new SE 2, and the battery doesn’t even holds up a complete day, and not using it that much, just some exercise on mornings and then just wearing it all that long with not that much use I may go to Apple and make a diagnosis
I want to update my iPhone to iOS 17, but I’m scared that in doing so, my watch series 4 will have to update to Os10 and it might affect (in a bad way) the performance and especially the Battery life. Is this the case?
I’ve got the series 4 and watchOS 10. Haven’t noticed any battery problems/changes since. I usually start out around 90-100% each day, and I can fit in a workout and it lasts through the evening with more than 10-20% life depending on what I did with it that day. Recharging daily is a hassle, but not that big of a dealbreaker for me. My toddler has DESTROYED the screen over the years with scratches though, so I’m looking for an upgrade for that.
I let my go to 0 and then charged with an Anker 40 watt plug but it charged 50% in 1.5 hours. I switched to the 20w Apple brick and it went from 50%-75% in 40 min. 95% charged after 2.5 hours but battery info says there was a moment where charging stopped due to heat.
@@HotshotTekDid you forget about that video I mentioned 1 month ago? Another one with a battery test using all day cellular, no Wi-Fi, phone with you. Another video with AOD all the time comparing with AOD off, I’m curious to see how much AOD drains the battery on Ultra 2.🙏
I have the series 4 and it lasts me 3 days on a charge wake up in the morning put the watch on before I go to work and I take it off when I get home from work which is around 11 hours. Now if I keep the watch on 24/7 it will last 1.5 days
It would have been a great addition to have compared battery life under an activity with GPS turned on. Probably battery life would be a quarter of the results here
I’ve just gotten a Ultra series 1 and with 100% capacity it lasts like 2,5-3 days without always on display in normal daylie use and 0.5-2.5h of workout a day
Thanks for this video. I want to get the Apple watch but it is hard to pay over 500 dollars for. a watch that will need to be charge every day. In the meantime I am using the Huawei Fit 2, just because I only charge it every 8 days. Hopping the new series 10 will truly improve that.
I can assure you that going from watch os9 to watch os10 did NOT improve battery life at all it made it WAY worse my watch would usually last me from around midnight going to sleep to the end of the day just having to charge before going to sleep and now it barely survives until 4-6pm I do about 1-1.5h workouts every day and close all the rings so that’s around 25% worse, the only reason why I updated was because going to ios 17 was making my apple watch send notifications really slow and getting messages an hour or two later bothered me a lot. Got a fix for that but at what cost… going for the ultra 2 on cyber monday tho so finally no more battery issues.
I always included them in my previous videos, but this time, I decided not to include them because the data showed that nobody was interested. However, since I’m now receiving a lot of requests, I am going to upload the information in the description. All of them are at 100% because I use these Apple Watches solely for testing purposes, not for personal use. My primary devices are two second-generation Apple Watch Ultras.
I’ve noticed a huge battery difference as well on my U1 after updating to Watch os 10
Great video, this deserves more view.
could you also do one where notifications come in and other distractions also come? that would probably cut the time for most in half but that imo would be more realistic
How do you get all these Apple watches?
Are all the older models equipped with new battery in the testing?
No
Do these watches get notifications or are they connected to devices? I've NEVER had an apple watch last as long as these do 😆
My ultra 1 eats like 10% battery while I’m sleep tracking :( it barely ate a couple before os10
I have to charge it a little bit every day pretty much to make sure it wouldnt die if I decided to use it a little heavier without needing access to my charger
Same
My ultra 1 is now losing battery increasing faster than before. It’s actually suspicious to me.
That's done on purpose so Apple gets you to upgrade to Ultra 2. Apple is becoming very greedy and has no more innovation. They are sadly becoming the next Nokia.
Thanks very helpful video I had watch 4 and I was. Considering to change battery but based on your video now I am considering to go to SE2 instead of changing battery as it’s battery change isn’t worth it
WOW great job !! I love my U2 !! The extra storage is nice as I am able to load all my music and not carry my iPhone around in the gym.
I came here cause I have a new SE 2, and the battery doesn’t even holds up a complete day, and not using it that much, just some exercise on mornings and then just wearing it all that long with not that much use
I may go to Apple and make a diagnosis
My Fitbit Lite lasted 4 days without a charge. This was an interesting vid. It died because of the "boot loop".
Hey man, can you please do a charging time test on the ultra 2? (From 0-100% or from 30-80%) using 20w and the charging cable that came with ultra 2.
I’ll rig something up, it’s sounds interesting thanks for the suggestion
I let my go to 0 and then charged with an Anker 40 watt plug but it charged 50% in 1.5 hours. I switched to the 20w Apple brick and it went from 50%-75% in 40 min. 95% charged after 2.5 hours but battery info says there was a moment where charging stopped due to heat.
Still waiting 😊
@@HotshotTekDid you forget about that video I mentioned 1 month ago? Another one with a battery test using all day cellular, no Wi-Fi, phone with you. Another video with AOD all the time comparing with AOD off, I’m curious to see how much AOD drains the battery on Ultra 2.🙏
I have the series 4 and it lasts me 3 days on a charge wake up in the morning put the watch on before I go to work and I take it off when I get home from work which is around 11 hours. Now if I keep the watch on 24/7 it will last 1.5 days
S9 and SE 2 wasnt identical in boot up, SE 2 was clearly a little faster. Still, nice vid
It would have been a great addition to have compared battery life under an activity with GPS turned on. Probably battery life would be a quarter of the results here
Don´t you miss the SE3? I mean the first SE came on 2020, SE2 2022 and the SE3 this year, right?
Ultimate battery test, hats off to your efforts. Millions Thanks.
Great video mate, very helpful 👌🏽
I’ve just gotten a Ultra series 1 and with 100% capacity it lasts like 2,5-3 days without always on display in normal daylie use and 0.5-2.5h of workout a day
My Series 6 Watch lasts 18 hours on one charge, it’s my first Apple Watch ever
Thanks for this video. I want to get the Apple watch but it is hard to pay over 500 dollars for. a watch that will need to be charge every day.
In the meantime I am using the Huawei Fit 2, just because I only charge it every 8 days. Hopping the new series 10 will truly improve that.
It all depends on what u are doing on the watch.. Some days i get 4 days and a few hours on my Ultra watch 2, and another day 3 days and a few hours..
I have a Apple Watch SE2 And also an amazfit GTS4 mini the battery last’s for 2 weeks😂
Wow this is crazy effort for this experiment bro
what OS is installed on the SE watch and s5/6/7/8/9 ?
Awesome! Thanks for the test! AWU2 💪🏼
Any time!
Is the apple watch series 9 cellular or gps?
Literally what I've looked for, thank you
u can make a shortcut for send messages and the phone receiving them make the watch vibration and costs batt like a real use
Nice video!! I love your hardwork
Loved the video ! Subscribed !
I have the series 3 I’m on it a lot and it last from 6am-11pm
Thank you for time and effort to do this video!!
Great Video mate.
Great video bro! Thanks for the research
i have the S8 45mm and i was able to go two days without charging and now on Watch OS 10 i can barely make 1,5 days... Hope they'll fix it soon 😔😔
What does the chip set have to do with keeping the screen open the whole time, it’s all a battery test why are you mentioning chipsets
I have a series 8 and it can go up to 12-15 hours easily 😁
Thanks great, you could do a charge speed to!
Its actually insane that a device that small with a battery this small can last 27 hours with the screen on
What happened to the series 7?
Well, SE2 was 13:50:00 ish, and even with direct sunlight to mess with S9's boosted brightness for sunlight it lasted to 14:10, so not the exact same
Yes but did you check battery health? That’s the only really important thing.
I personally bought two and stored one away, using only one for testing.
But if you like see the battery percentage for yourself I have it linked right here. ruclips.net/video/rbejyoL7YgM/видео.html
