    I like when actually using and explaining rather than just unboxing and just talking specs. This is my kind of good review!

    Hi, As a 70 year old Widow who has inherited the dubious pleasure of the garden tools. Our strimmer was far too heavy, and I purchased the above cordless one last year. I got it out of its box yesterday I wish I found your video earlier. Faffing with the guard faffing with the assembly, struggling to figure out where was supposed to even put the battery?? I figured it out, took it outside, I hadn't put the blade on properly so lost my only blade. Discovered I was supposed to have 20 spares? I couldn't find them?? Ordered an 100 of Amazon. Work was stopped unnecessarily and I found the blades today Watching your video! Sorry its long, but not everyone knows how to manage things. Thank you so much and please keep on educating.

      Hi, Thanks for the feedback and glad it’s proved useful. The only thing I’d say about the cheaper blades bought off Amazon is that I find they’re slightly shorter than the Einhell ones, and are made of stiffer plastic. That makes them hard to fit and remove, and also they tend to shatter more. I bought a 100 pack myself but after using up around 30 of them, I’ve given up on them and forked out for a box of Einhell ones (also on Amazon). Cheers, Chris

      @handyman-at-home I fitted my cheapie blade and off I went! Did about 15 mins and it packed in altogether? Hoping it's battery? However, I can't see where you are supposed to see how much charge it's got? I thought it would have a lit up bit? I will go and purchase some Einhell blades. Thank you so much for the advice! I am getting to like this strimmer.

      Try pressing the little button to the side of the three LEDs on the end of the battery. You should get from one to three to light up. If none light up, it's definitely fully discharged. I think I show how to do that in one of my other Einhell videos. Cheers

      Your expertise shines through again. I have finally found the lights, and it's half full! Thank you again. Also I didn't get 100 blades from amazon, I got 50 Einhell blades cos I wanted them in the plastic box. so that was my one thing I did right. I cannot express how helpful you have been, Thank you! And please keep on helping people.

    I had the Bosch equivalent and if you think you are using blades quickly, the Bosch Durablade ones were dreadful. The Einhell ones wear away (or fly off) when hitting hard surfaces, but the Bosch ones actually snapped. You could get through a couple in 5 minutes unless you were careful, and at about £0.70 each(!), it was ridiculous. Never used it again and recycled it.

      Wow - they're expensive! The Einhell ones are definitely more cost-effective than the cheapo ones I tried - they last longer, and as such they don't need changing as frequently, so less time spent faffing about instead of strimming. The cheapo Amazon ones I got have similarly been sent to recycling...

    Just came Across your channel just the review I was looking for and a new subscriber how are the blades holding up compared to line

    • @handyman-at-home
      @handyman-at-home  5 месяцев назад

      Hi Andy, Thanks for subscribing. A very timely question ....! So the original Einhell blades that came with the strimmer (can't remember whether there were 10 or 20) I found pretty robust and lasted well when strimming all lengths of grass. When I came to buy some more, I was a cheapskate and bought a pack of 100(?) non-original off Amazon. Big mistake! What a a load of rubbish they are. They turned out to be a couple of mm shorter (not a huge issue) and made out of very stiff plastic, as compared to the originals which seemed a bit more flexible. This made them i) much more difficult to fit and ii) have a much higher tendency to shatter/snap off. When you're cutting grass, they're OK(ish) but when you try edging against a hard paved surface, they can be a nightmare, requiring you to be extremely careful when positioning the strimmer i.e. just close enough to trim but no too close to clatter the paving. As an example, yesterday I was trimming the lawn along a stretch of block paving and I got through 6 (yes six!) blades ... and it's not a big lawn! That was unusually bad ... maybe I was rushing ... but either way, I won't be buying the cheap ones again. To be honest, I'd say I'm 50/50 between blades and line. I always had problems with the line feed/snapping off, which is why I thought I'd try the blades. But they're not without their issues as I've described. Hopefully some original blades will restore my karma. Cheers, Chris

    Logged in just to give thumbs up! Good quality review and video. Do you still like the Einhell? Im looking electric trimmer for my yard. I already own Einhell batteries so its kinda natural choise for me. Corded ones are like 10-30 years investment while batteries only last about 5 years active use and manufacturers tend to change their connector styles and higher voltage etc so you can't fit the new ones to the old ones. You can actually repair old batteries by changing the internals to new ones, they are actually very universal inside the casing. It is not the money for me but I don't like to pile up waste or junk products. I want something reliable that lasts atleast 10 years.

      Hi and thanks for the feedback. Do I still like the Einhell ...?? Well, after using it for one season, these are my thoughts..
      - My biggest gripe is that once the blade has been worn down a little (say by a third) there is a noticeable level of vibration transmitted up the shaft to the handle. I'm presuming this is because the rotating mass is now slightly out of balance, but it seems strange this happens with such a small loss of the blade. Maybe it's something else??
      - The Einhell plastic blades last much longer and stay on the head much better than cheap knock-offs that you can buy on Amazon or Ebay; the latter seem to be made from a harder plastic so they are less flexible and therefore tend to snap or chip. Definitely a case of you get what you pay for.
      - Battery life is pretty good - I can trim two medium sized lawns and still have 1 to 2 LEDs left on the battery
      - Will it last 10 years? I doubt it. I had an old corded Black & Decker that gave over 20 years of service (it was originally my parents) and was probably the best strimmer I've had out of the three (B&D, Bosch and Einhell)
      - Am I glad I bought it...? Glad is probably too strong a word. It does the job that I need it to, and I certainly like the freedom and less fuss that not having a mains cord brings. But that goes for any cordless strimmer.
      - Are there better ones? Almost certainly. And I would consider going back to a spool and line version rather than the blades, if I could be sure that the spool autofeed worked properly and with no tangles.
      In summary, given what I paid for it, I'm happy enough with it, but I suspect it's not the best out there.
      Hope that helps
      Chris

    So after a year of use how does the strimmer perform now? Do the plastic cutters last or are you replacing them often.

    • @handyman-at-home
      @handyman-at-home  Месяц назад +1

      Hi, Still works very well. Doesn't get a huge amount of use as I only have a small to medium sized garden and tend to strim every second week during the season (April to Sept approx.). I made the mistake of buying cheap unbranded blades on Amazon when my initial batch of Einhell blades had been used up. Major error - total rubbish. Very stiff plastic, hard to fit on, and very prone to snapping at the faintest hint of hitting something hard!! Went back to Einhell branded blades and they're much better - more flexible, easier to fit, and last longer. You get what you pay for it seems. For me, the biggest advantage is that if a blade does need replacing, it's only a 30 second job, whereas when I had a line snap on my old Bosch strimmer, it was a right faff to get it re-threaded and set to the right length. Cheers, Chris

    What about for remove weeds in patios? Is powerful enough? And what about grass sizes? Could be regulated to cut more or less deep? Thanks

    • @handyman-at-home
      @handyman-at-home  Год назад +1

      Hi Alberto, Yes - I use it to remove weeds from patios and paved areas, and it's pretty reasonable at doing that. However, I have found that the plastic cutting blades wear down quite quickly when you're cutting against hard surfaces like stone, concrete, brick etc I'd rate it at 7/10 for strimming weeds on hard surfaces. It cuts the rough edges around my lawn pretty well, but I don't have a lot of rough ground areas so I can't comment on much else. It's definitely for lighter use rather than a heavy duty strimmer though. Doesn't have any adjustment on cut depth as such. Hope that helps, Chris

    Thanks - isn't that just what we call a "Whipper Snipper" here in Aus? I have one with dual batteries from the same company - here called Ozito.
    The problems I've had is the line breaks and I'm forever replacing the line and there is no where near enough power in that motor to get to my edges. (Imagine how often the line would break if it did have more power!)
    I'm after something more robust and an Aldi petrol version a friend gave me really does the job. Heavy though, bloody heavy after an afternoon of trimming.

    • @handyman-at-home
      @handyman-at-home  Год назад

      Whipper Snipper 🤣 Great name - not heard that one before... sounds like you have a lot more ground to keep in order. The Einhell is definitely towards the light duty end - I'd agree with that - but we only have a small lawn at the front and not much bigger at the back, so it's pretty much the right level for us. Haven't had any garden tools from Aldi as yet, but have had a few other DIY tools and generally they've been pretty good. Picked up a small hand router for less than £40 a couple of years ago and it's been a steal. They have a decent small bandsaw too, which I keep meaning to look out for - only comes round once a year or so - but my wife says I've got enough tools .....

      @@handyman-at-home All wives say we have enough tools, but the list of jobs just keeps coming.
      Yes, I like the Aldi occasional tool sales and they have a pretty good approach to refunds.
      The Einhell here is an Ozito - exactly the same tool except for the badge and they are great for domestic use.

      Thanks. Yes - I didn't have much long grass in the garden at the time I filmed it. It works pretty well on grass up to 6 inches high (150mm) but I haven't tried it on anything higher. I do prefer the blades to using line, but don't buy cheap blades from Amazon as they're terrible, and break/snap off really quickly. Better to buy the genuine Einhell ones - they seem more flexible and appear to last longer.
