I was given vit D by my doctor but Im a woman of a certain age so appropriate. I take fish oils Omega 3, I take multi vitamin (for the B vits as Im vegetarian for 30 years) I also sprinkle turmeric on my food or add to meals somehow and add black pepper to help absorbtion of the tumeric. Regulary add garlic to meals.......... in between the pizza that is!
B12 and D3. After watching Dr. Michael Greger's videos. Nothing else. Trying to derive Lutein and Zeaxanthin from food sources (Leafy greens, corn, dark pigmented berries and fruits)
I get 50 bucks every 3 months from my medicare advantage health care to spend on over the counter pharmacy stuff. Currently taking Vitamin D (gummies, yum yum) fish oil pills, walmart's Equate eye health complex, Turmeric/Curcurmin, Magnesium , callagen, men over 50 vitamin. I don't take them all every day except the Vit D and the eye health ones. Floaters seem to have gone away some time back, like several years ago. I'll turn 76 this week.
If you can swallow pills, you're better off not using gummies. Studies have shown that it's harder to get a standardized dose in each gummy. Great that you take Vit D daily.....most people are deficit.
I started taking Luten/zeaxanthin, idk if it’s my mind but I’m definitely having less light glares at night, to the point that I have noticed it. It has only been one week since I started taking it. Great timing on this video.
@@peterhelios2960Some evidence shows that dietary antioxidant vitamins and minerals (A, C, and E, and the mineral zinc) may help prevent the progression of macular degeneration. "The retina, especially the macula, is thought to be an environment of high oxidative stress, meaning that there is an abundance of free radicals-molecules that damage proteins and DNA within cells. Antioxidants fight free radicals and are thought to help protect the retina from this damage," explains Dr. Kim. Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids found in the retina, and dietary intake of these compounds has been shown to have antioxidant properties and to improve pigment density in the macula. This pigment protects the cells in the macular area by absorbing excess blue and ultraviolet light and neutralizing free radicals. Lutein and zeaxanthin are usually found together in food. Dietary intake of the omega-3 fatty acid DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) may be important to retinal health. "DHA is present in high concentrations in the outer segments of retinal photoreceptors," says Dr. Kim. "Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, and there is evidence to suggest that inflammation plays a role in AMD." Finding the nutrients You'll find lutein and zeaxanthin in most fruits and vegetables, especially yellow and orange varieties and leafy greens. Egg yolks are an even richer source of these nutrients. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in coldwater fish, flaxseed, and walnuts. Good sources of zinc include red meat and shellfish. You'll find vitamins A, C, and E in many vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. NOW Brand has great reviews. Non GMO Also if u like to research Billberry as been long time ago reported for eye health.
Great video! At 51 I have no presbyopia. I did my homework and for 12 years I have eaten 4 tbsp of tomato paste, 1 cup pumpkin, half can sockeye salmon, and 2 cups matcha. I now include macadamia nut butter for the tocotrienols, Biosil and marine collagen powder. I still wear the same prescription for myopia that I got in my late teens. Diet cures just about any ailment, but you have to be so consistent.
I take D3, 3000 IU. Fish oils 1200 mg ( Eye Dr is recommending EZ tears. Alternating days with the oil I’m now taking) I also take other supplements like E,B complex, etc. Blink sounds interesting as well as increasing fish oils. I also heard about the need for taurine and melatonin. Curious if you have info on Vitamin A. I recently had a nutrition genome done. I have a gene that doesn’t allow conversion of beta- carotene. If I understand correctly Vit A is necessary for eye health. Now looking for alternatives. And presently..overgrowth of the nasty Demodex mite. Hi, shout out from Melbourne, Australia! I take all the vitamins you’ve mentioned but also Calcium Pyruvate, as someone told me it was good for your eyes as well. Don’t know if that’s true. 🧐
Great information, great video! The explanation is very easy to understand! Thank you for sharing about "5 Essential Eye Health Supplements"! This video is exactly what we need.
I take these as a combo pill, but I've also started growing veggies that are rich in carotenoids and not over fertilizing them as they don't have those strong compounds of over fertilized. Been having a lot of relief lately.
I take several supplements, but I am also a bit cynical about them. One, scientific studies seem to often have weaknesses in their construction and interpretation. Two, since supplements are only casually regulated at best, it seems to be all a gamble. Over my lifetime, I have tried supplements for a bottle or two, monitored for any perceived benefit, and then ultimately leaned more toward diet. I am hoping that I will simply die of old age before much of it matters! 🙂 The problem with that approach is that dry eye in my RIGHT eye seems to be increasingly debilitating. Good thing nature gave us TWO eyes. Thanks for hanging in there with all the videos. Knowing that you actually attempt to stay current on new research findings is comforting, more comforting than me trying new supplements!
I took melatonin nightly for about a year…but then stopped due to my own concerns and curiosity. I occasionally take it in the dry eye drink formula but usually more when I’m traveling.
Ask them about melatonin supplements! There are studies comparing the use of melatonin vs high blood pressure medication in chronic cases. But it may depend on other medical factors. Wish you the best!
I started taking Blink supplements 60 days ago per your suggestion, still waiting to see if they help my MGD. I love taking CoreOmega for my omega 3, it’s an individual orange flavor goo that you squeeze into the mouth. No fish burps. The trouble with supplements is the expense. As you mentioned the Blink does consolidate many of the pills lowering the cost somewhat, but 30 bucks for 50 pills is a big cost for many. Thanks for the content.
Thanks for mentioning coreOmega, I have seen that but never tried it! Cost is definitely an issue. Sadly, food is now too. I am still confused why blink is 50 pills and not 60 or something that makes sense.
Thanks for the great video. I take four triple strength fish oil capsules. My ophthalmologist said that that is the recommended dosage for dry eye. I'm surprised you don't take astaxanthin
Doc, I really enjoyed this vid. Gave me flashbacks from o-chem & patho. Guess I paid enough attention in school since the only supplements I don't take is creatine, lutein & zeaxanthin since I get sufficient amounts of them through my plant based nutrition.
Thank you!! Would that all health care providers were taught to value nutrition. Health care should be FOCUSED on HEALTH! Food may be the best medicine.
Looking good Doc. Think you've been doing more gym work over the past 12 months. Are there any benefits that gym work can have on the eyes? Also, what do you think of heat packs for the eyes that will release the oils? Appreciate your dedication to educating us on eye health. Btw. I love manuka eye drops. I am in Australia and pharmacies are finally making these easier to purchase. 🎉
Do you feel like the Blink vitamin is helpful? There was a study on Retaron that seemed promising but it's been hard to find a similar formula in the US. Found one from Solgar but it may be discontinued? Appreciate your timing of posting this! Thanks!
Thank you for the video. I have the Lutein bottle and take one a day but I also take L Theanine, do you know if there’s any weird or adverse interactions between those two?
Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with FED. It's mild, and I have these 5%sodium chloride drops for it, but I also have floaters and a bit of computer vision syndrome. I don't need a prescription, and I still see real good, according to my optician, and I passed all the various tests they made me do. I've started wearing blue light uva 400 glasses and am using the eye care options on my ipad but what vitamins or care would you recommend? I want to avoid having to get a corneal transplant for as long as possible.
So far, I take "eye care", but no matter what I do, my astigmatism is going to still be there. It's a really great product if you want better vision naturally with scientific ingredients. It might be cheaper than getting a $1,000 prescription glasses replacement if you're on a budget. For some people, the only known cure for bad eye conditions like myopia, astigmatism is Lasik eye surgery when things get too bad to manage. I was curious to see if there were natural herbs to treat and reverse the problem. Just eye exercises that won't work for everyone.
When vision quality drops to a level where daily activity become difficult or quality of life suffers. Usually your eye doctor will make a recommendation or let you know when you would qualify. Dr. Allen, thank you for the information on the vitamins. My question is I have in the past had kaleidoscope vision and just recently. I wasn't sure what it was tell I goggled it and then it said I might have a headache. When it happened to me, I was a little scared. I didn't have a headache but could something else be happing? Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and your family. 🥰👍👍👍👍👍(🌹🐞🦂🌵)
Is there a video, on how to choose a good eye specialist? Or do you have contacts list of like minded and with a holistic leaning, of eye specialists , in major cities around the world? Fascinating that eye specialists can also observe other diseases via the eye.
Day 6 Hi doctor ! Love ur videos I am 17 I have been experiencing floaters and blue eye entoptic phenomenon since 4 years i have got my fundus examination done 2 time (within a gap of 6 months of when I initially got my floaters) and my eyes were healthy. But floaters and especially blue eye entoptic phenomenon irritates me a lot so i just wanted to ask whether i can use atropine 0.01% for the same (we can get these drops easily in our country {india}) as when i got my fundus done the dilating drops used in my eyes got my floaters and blue eye phenomenon fixed for a whole day. I was very happyyy !! Even though i know that the drops used were 1% one still 0.01% would also do some good and can pineapple do something for these too in the longer term . I would love if you would reply me Thanku
Hey thank you. I think it’s interesting that the blue field effect improved with dilation, I would not expect that. But I suppose talking with a local doctor about using that would be the next step. There was one pro study on using pineapple for floaters but nothing I have seen since then, I don’t recommend it clinically at this time
hey doctor I wear glasses as a prescription of -8 that makes my eyes look big but I hate it and I wanna get contact lenses but my parents refuses. is there eye training to make me see better without glasses or at least make me better than -8 I see blury without glasses
New to your channel. Wonderful info. I do have a question. I noticed a very small white dot on the side border of my inner iris. I saw my doctor and he says it's a pterygium. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this white dot through natural means...plant based eating, using good sunglasses? Also, will the dot get bigger in time?
Ik you probably get this question alot but could you make a video about the best eye drops for being high and you could even make it a educational video explaining why your eyes get so red?
Dr. Allen, ?you mentioned creatine, but didn't mention a brand - can you say which you use? If it's good for maintaining muscle, it might be something to consider. Thanks.
To my knowledge, I do not think the brand of creatine matters. As long as the ingredient is just creatine monohydrate and doesn’t have any other additives. I buy whatever is on sale at the supermarket/ health store.
Does a injury on eye causes glaucoma 😢?iam using prednisolone eye drops and my eye sight is little but different from another eye does i have glaucoma 😢😢 please any one reply 😢😢
really interesting subjects, curcuma is great for so many things ! anyway definitely a different diet can change things , for me garden vegetable (not industry) , proper meat (not processed) and so on make me see from super blurry when tired and with a non proper foods to pretty sharp even though i had an eye surgery and have an ankylosing spondylicis,(not so good for eyes) monoclonal spike, reccurent keraticis (pretty much a chronic tear of the surface of the cornea...not the best eye feeling). also found that for some reason but also with good diet, microdosing helps quite a bit (but there wont be studies for a while ....knowing the way the industry really wants people having eye problems cauz it make probably billions each year. Like feeding sh+t food to people so they get sick...(situation really worse in the States as thousands of unstudied chemicals are added to americas foods) how can people get better when you cant find vegetables in some cities, have to travel miles for it, or pay crazy money for just a few leafs of greens. anyway, thank you for what you are doing . RUclips can be a great academy if one is able to make a triage in all that mess. cheers M8 , have a good one !!
I am from India.. i loved your content.. I started taking naturemyst krill oil.. it is to expensive..but i am taking.. can you please review about this product.. pleasee i dont want to waste my money
Can you comment on the zebra fish research and the regeneration properties. The supplement Visi Ultra has the supplements you talk about plus the algae zebra fish eat. Research has been done by NIH
Thanks for asking! That is the only reported case of a retinal change associated with high levels of lutein supplementation that I have seen. Thankfully no vision changes and it was reversible, but it was interesting. I also wonder what the person was specifically taking - like perhaps there were impurities in the supplement they took. Otherwise I have never heard of any other cases.
Dear, Doctor/sir - i have thick brown coloured eyes, i just wanted to make i light brown! Please suggest an eyedrop i gonna follow ur commands, how to use , for how many days i should use etc etc... Good thing. I know people who have evaporative dry eyes. I'm not alone hahaha. It's really bad to have evaporative dry eyes when you stay in the air conditioning for a long time, they burn a lot. hahhah I have meobomitis and it causes a lot of dry eyes. I'm 19 years old and I'm learning to deal with it hahahah
I recently started taking the Blink supplement and noticed my eyes felt better after about 30 days. I suffer from MGD and blepharitis. I also started using Miebo eyedrops a couple months ago and I think they’ve been helping. I will add asthaxanthin to my supplementation. I took a break from 2000mg of Omega3 because my doctor wanted to see if it was the cause for my elevated LDL levels. I get tested in Dec to see if it went down.
Hello sir , I have floaters , Blue field EP , afterimages , phosphene , random shadows that appear for 2-4 seconds (arent floaters) , spots , wavy vision , i got my eyes checked and the doctor has to say my retina is fine he gave me some eye multivitamins , but i still face these problems , its evry difficult for me to manage my studies , Pls I need your guidance 🙏🏻

Why do people (mostly children) with farsightedness suffer from or are accompanied by amblyopia, while those with nearsightedness do not suffer from amblyopia? What is the reason? I need an answer please
this is like a random question but is it bad to use the same single vial eye drop more than once? i didn’t know you were only supposed to use them once and discard so i capped them and still used them. I feel that the single use one are so wasteful because if you’re only using them once and discarding there’s still so much product left. Am I the only one that feels this way? (i’ve been using the systane hydration PF because I recently had a eye infection and suffered from dry eyes.)
At 66yo I have 20/20 vision but have been told I have slight cataracts which are not progressing … I take all the. Eye recommended xanthins / lutine / o3 /d 2 .. wear sunglasses … is there ANYTHING new on preventing cataracts and/or pharmaceutical options instead of lens replacement on the horizon. It just seems it can’t be that hard to create a cataract clearing eye drop ?

I have had loads of problems over the last 4 years with my eyes and my optician says he is seeing many things he's never seen before in his whole long career.
There's no risk of vitamin d toxicity. If that was the case, then people in Africa & Asia will be in big trouble.
Through supplements it certainly can. Not from diet. Read the studies.
Day 6
Hi doctor !
Love ur videos
I am 17
I have been experiencing floaters and blue eye entoptic phenomenon since 4 years i have got my fundus examination done 2 time (within a gap of 6 months of when I initially got my floaters) and my eyes were healthy.
I would love if you would reply me
Thanku
Hey thank you. I think it’s interesting that the blue field effect improved with dilation, I would not expect that. But I suppose talking with a local doctor about using that would be the next step. There was one pro study on using pineapple for floaters but nothing I have seen since then, I don’t recommend it clinically at this time
More videos on eye floaters please!!!
Greeting from Taiwan. Thanks for the video.
hey doctor I wear glasses as a prescription of -8 that makes my eyes look big but I hate it and I wanna get contact lenses but my parents refuses. is there eye training to make me see better without glasses or at least make me better than -8 I see blury without glasses
Are French maritime pine bark extract and bilberry extract effective for dry eye?
Can you please share the dosages again? :)
Do you know anything about Kraflex operation for keratoconus? When will this action be available?
Can you help us wih a good quality oil for dry eye in the uk? PRN not available in the UK. Many thanks!

Can you talk about glutathione for eyes please
Working on it!
@@DoctorEyeHealth Thank you.
What about taking liquid cod liver oil? I do eat wild sardines and wild caught sockeye salmon..
I would love to hear your thoughts on Maquibright
Could you please talk about Ocular Melanoma? ❤
I take CarotenAll by Jarrow formulas, and an omega 3 supplement from Nordic Naturals

Does a injury on eye causes glaucoma 😢?iam using prednisolone eye drops and my eye sight is little but different from another eye does i have glaucoma 😢😢 please any one reply 😢😢
this eye doctor has also quite charming eyes.
really interesting subjects, curcuma is great for so many things ! anyway definitely a different diet can change things , for me garden vegetable (not industry) , proper meat (not processed) and so on make me see from super blurry when tired and with a non proper foods to pretty sharp even though i had an eye surgery and have an ankylosing spondylicis,(not so good for eyes) monoclonal spike, reccurent keraticis (pretty much a chronic tear of the surface of the cornea...not the best eye feeling).
also found that for some reason but also with good diet, microdosing helps quite a bit (but there wont be studies for a while ....knowing the way the industry really wants people having eye problems cauz it make probably billions each year.
Can we get your opinion on the HydroEye supplement vs the PRN?

Hello! What about citicoline?
If you're low-carb and avoiding seed oils, there's no need for sunscreen, zinc oxide for ears/nose prn.
Interesting information.
Glad you think so!
@@DoctorEyeHealth it is. We often overlook our eyes. When I get mine checked next I will ask about supplemental support for my eyes
Can you comment on the zebra fish research and the regeneration properties. The supplement Visi Ultra has the supplements you talk about plus the algae zebra fish eat. Research has been done by NIH

Do those vitamins have any benefit for flies?? Eda would be my question, I hope you can answer me. Regards.
Instead of becoming a model he became an eye doctor :)
Does sneezing, coughing or holding your nose while blowing to unblock eustachian tubes cause PVD?
What is your opinion on the following
Crystalline Maculopathy Associated with High-Dose Lutein Supplementation ??
Thanks for asking! That is the only reported case of a retinal change associated with high levels of lutein supplementation that I have seen. Thankfully no vision changes and it was reversible, but it was interesting. I also wonder what the person was specifically taking - like perhaps there were impurities in the supplement they took. Otherwise I have never heard of any other cases.
Dear, Doctor/sir - i have thick brown coloured eyes, i just wanted to make i light brown! Please suggest an eyedrop i gonna follow ur commands, how to use , for how many days i should use etc etc...

I want to ask one question
Can a doctor or person notice easily if i am wearing transparent soft contact lenses?
Is it that easy to notice ?
An eye doctor should, because we have strong magnification devices to examine the eye. your family doctor probably won’t notice unless you tell them
@@DoctorEyeHealth thank u very much thats very helpful 💙
5 "mg of creatine"? It looks like you were scooping out ~5 GRAMS.
Well that was just some stock footage but yes, 5mg/ day is the standard dosing for fitness.
Best to find a neuro optometrist who is familiar with conditions like visual snow syndrome and other subjective visual disturbances. They are not easy to come but they are out there.

Why do people (mostly children) with farsightedness suffer from or are accompanied by amblyopia, while those with nearsightedness do not suffer from amblyopia? What is the reason? I need an answer please
How much does all of this cost?
Maybe 600 dollars a year?? Depends a bit on what brands people buy and where they buy it from.
What of optic nerve formula?
this is like a random question but is it bad to use the same single vial eye drop more than once? i didn’t know you were only supposed to use them once and discard so i capped them and still used them. I feel that the single use one are so wasteful because if you’re only using them once and discarding there’s still so much product left. Am I the only one that feels this way? (i’ve been using the systane hydration PF because I recently had a eye infection and suffered from dry eyes.)
Sir can tmj disorder creat dry eye ?
At 66yo I have 20/20 vision but have been told I have slight cataracts which are not progressing … I take all the. Eye recommended xanthins / lutine / o3 /d 2 .. wear sunglasses … is there ANYTHING new on preventing cataracts and/or pharmaceutical options instead of lens replacement on the horizon. It just seems it can’t be that hard to create a cataract clearing eye drop ?
What about NAC eye drops
Does your doctor know what kind of vision you will get back after retinal detachment?
Can't you simply get them from food? Does the artificial stuff really work?
At 51 I have no presbyopia. I did my homework and for 12 years I have eaten 4 tbsp of tomato paste, 1 cup pumpkin, half can sockeye salmon, and 2 cups matcha. I now include macadamia nut butter for the tocotrienols, Biosil and marine collagen powder. I still wear the same prescription for myopia that I got in my late teens. Diet cures just about any ailment, but you have to be so consistent.
Could you do a video on the eyes and covid / long covid. I have had loads of problems over the last 4 years with my eyes and my optician says he is seeing many things he's never seen before in his whole long career. For example he has seen many people in the last few weeks with left eye problems, always left, who have all just had covid.
