Apologies if you have already seen this video, the original was demonetized due to me describing the events of 13th of January in too much detail and probably using sensitive and graphic footage. So I opted to cut that part of the video and re-upload. If you wish to add yourself to the Patreon map your support would be massively appreciated: www.patreon.com/geoperspective

I hope the AI’s don’t attempt to hide bits of history from humans of the future… I guess if the AI’s can laugh amongst themselves as they do it to us…fair game 😂

The Empire of Evil (as R. Reagan named it ) ,USSR ,split into 15 new states, plus Chechnya/Ichkeria. However, convulsions are still continuing. The most dangerous example: the war against Ukraine.

I'm sure the so-called 'Russian Federation' would split up into 30-40+ new states in a few years or so, but only under the condition that Ukraine wins the war outright against Russia.

I feel it could have been better to re-release this in the weekend to keep up with the schedule, especially if the next video wasn't ready till then

Another good one however compared to austrian one, i think this one was a bit biased. You only tried to paint the rosy poicture of how Lithuania transition to marked economy without telling the challenges it faced.
Also how much of a say did Lithuania had in recognising Taiwan and how much it was a proxy move from other major western powers.
The geopolitics aspects of the video was great especially mentioning of Suwałki Gap

It was not a proxy move, in fact Lithuania received backlash from its allies and Western powers for going this bold. Move created also a insignificant, but opinion division in internal politics and population support for respective political parties.
There is a clear idea behind the LT move, which was even publicly stated although not at first loudly said: We experienced attempts to take port and Railway control, and we need to untangle ourselves from deep relations with China (speaking about relations where China have real decision influence through debts, infrastructure or business shares etc. ) before we are deep rooted in those relations, so price for doing it would be short term high but quite safe later, than lower, but not necessary successful later if decided to pursue decision to untangle from said type of relationship level.

Obviously Lithuania didn't do it alone and as the full restoration of independence from the Soviet occupation came in many small steps, often Latvia and especially Estonia were leading the way. The only way you could say that one of them "broke the USSR" is when you simply disregard the roles of others.

While that may be factual, it will not be the historical record. All the previous things you mention led to this. And it was in Vilnius, Lithuania.

@@Mast3r0fTheUniverse It was also in Riga and Tallinn. And elsewhere to a large degree.

@@eksiarvamus that’s correct. But the tanks in Vilnius and Gorbachev deciding to pull them out that will be remembered. Remember, Hungary broke the Iron Curtain long before the wall in Berlin was breached. But Berlin will be remembered as where it happened. Not the opening of Hungary’s border with Austria.
