I think it's also that the harmonica was associated with Blues songs and they eventually moved away from those, and I can't remember Plant playing the harmonica in his solo career afterwards.

They took one of the most hard core blues songs and just made it as dirty and heavy as anything could be made. I felt like I had to pull myself up off the floor the first time I heard this from Zeppelin.

It's slow, slinky, and sensual. As someone else mentioned, Robert's voice was another instrument to use in the creation of perfection. You really should've just gone in album/track order from the beginning but that's ok because I am here for this!

You should consider reacting to "You Shook Me" from the BBC sessions album. They recorded it about 6 months after this version and the difference is extreme. You will definitely enjoy it.

This was the first song I heard by them back in the summer of 1969 I was 11 years old. I totally fell in love with them from then on.
