I'm not trying to generalize, but it seems that individuals raised predominantly on rap are programed into thinking lyrics are always the most important element of a song. It's like they can't appreciate melody, harmony, or the intricacies of instrumentation, because those are not the main elements of that form of music. The words and the beat are the main elements in that form of music, so they gravitate to that. Hip Hop is changing though, starting to incorporate other melodic elements of music into their songs. It's been happening for a while, but it seems like more so now, especially with artists like Ella Mai and Khalid. I almost hate to even lump Khalid or Ell Mai into the Hip Hop category, because they cross so many genres in their style. And I think with the advent of RUclips, more and more younger people will start to recognize the genius of Robert Johnson, Hank Williams, Fats Domino, Ray Charles, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles and others, and more and more, music will evolve into something more meaningful than what rap started out to be.
      Peace

I think it's good to pay attention to the lyrics, but sometimes you just need to vibrate with the song, it's about balancing and enjoying each part.
I'm sorry, but when the song is a vibe, I can't enjoy Brad's reactions, I literally put a piece of paper in my notebook so I don't see Brad's face, because he ruins Lex's reaction. I hope they start doing solo reactions in the future!

Wow! You finally reacted to "You Shook Me!" That thing between Robert Plant singing and Jimmy Page on guitar is titled 'call and response.' Thanks for finally responding to this wonderful bluesy song! 🙂 And kudos to you, Brad, for finally getting the mystery of Led Zeppelin. Their music was made to be 'listened to, which meant that those of us back in the day sat in front of two awesome free standing speakers and an incredible turn table and separate audio receiver set, got our groove on with a drink or a joint, and LISTENED to this incredible music. If you think their individual instrument sound separation is phenomenal in your headphones, just imagine how damn good it sounded coming out of two free standing stereo speakers.

Members of Zep were initially inspired by the blues greats going back as far as the 30s and 40s, real old school: Willie Dixon, T-Bone Walker, Sony Boy Williamson, etc. As the band developed, they built more of their own sound, but never fully left the blues behind. On their last album, Presence, they wrote an adaptation of an old gospel blues standard dating back to the early 20th century: Nobody's Fault but Mine. Zep is the best-selling rock band of all time, and for good reason. All the members were virtuosos and masterful songwriters. In their heyday, they'd sit down and write songs from scratch, even complex songs like Stairway to Heaven and The Battle of Evermore. They were not only great musicians and songwriters, but excelled at improv, for seldom did they play any song live the same way twice. All of this is why many call Zep the greatest rock band of all time. Simply the best.

When I saw Zep in 1969 at the Fillmore West, they did this song (they played the whole 1st album) and I was blown away. Top bill was Taj Mahal (another artist to check out) and he had to follow them twice that night. They were blistering in their performance, and ran out of the album songs so they started jamming.
Never see anything like that again.

I love when a band like Zeppelin make their guitars sing along with the vocalist... I've always thought Zeppelin has made everyone of their instruments sing along...bass, guitar, harmonica, orchestra and drums!! Love me some Led Zeppelin...they are my favorite and my life!! Always makes me want to smoke a big Ole fatty or rip some bong hits!! Lmao

Do Jeff Beck's version with Rod Stewart on vocals! The Jeff Beck version came out about 9 months before the Zep version. See which one you like more. Good vid!

One of LZ's best blues numbers. It has that "bump and grind" beat that was so often associated with strippers in the forties, fifteis and early sixties and yet still incorporates an organ solo straight from heaven!

Robert with his deep voice, which he had in spades on this album and all the singles he put out in the mid-late 60's PRE-Led Zeppelin.
