One of the most beautiful songs ever written. My late Wife has been gone 9 years now.To have love and lost is better then to never loved at all. We were able to go through all the Seasons of Our Emotions together and Yes a little rain must fall.Becuase of Her Battle to live it may appear to have been torrential down pour from the Outside.Becuase of Our Love for each other to us it was truly a little rain till the very end. I miss You Georgan especially when I play certain songs.I sometimes have to avoid them no matter how much I love them as this song.I can't wait to see You again Someday.
Your story is so sad but uplifting, if anyone loves like you loved your wife then we are all blessed, I'm so sorry for your lose, but please play the songs you don't want to, from experience I know you will see them in a different light and you will laugh and cry all at the same time because the memories will be strong
Resonates. I lost the love of my life - he died in front of me. Listened to this song so, so many times that first year. It gives honor to pain. Yes, rain must fall. And we must live on to be wounded healers. That's the grace of loss. We can stand alongside people in pain like no one else - even if we absorb only a molecule of their pain, we've done our work.
What sounds like an orchestral string section is actually John Paul Jones playing a Mellotron, a keyboard instrument that uses tape strips of different instrument sounds, like an early analog sampler.
I haven't heard a Led Zeppelin song that I didn't like ... Ever!!! But this song really stands out for me. Every time I hear it, I physically get chills running around my body ... A very powerful song!

The live version from "The Song Remains the Same" is awesome. Plus, you get to watch Robert riding a horse while holding a falcon! Yeah, that sounds normal, right!?!
That live version should be watched as a twofer with The Song Remains the Same leading into it. The contrast between the two is great, and they’re both epic in different ways.

Jimmy (and JPJ) probably had had well enough of the "made to order" pop machine from all his 60's session work. By the time he got to Zeppelin, he had enough clout to put his foot down. I'm sure having Peter Grant as a manager helped with that, too.
@@Itelkner You said it. What Peter Grant did for Zeppelin had a bleed-over effect for other artists in the 70s too. He doesn't get as much credit as he deserves for that glorious decade of artist-controlled music.
The greatest illustration as to why they were so good. The vocals, the guitars, the drums...and the secret weapon...JPJ is the consummate musician, taste, feel, groove and inspiration.
This is absolutely their most beautiful song. Filled with so much emotion. My favorite by them. Another great song that does not get enough attention is their song, "Achilles Last Stand." ✌❤🌹
One of the MOST BEAUTIFUL SONGS EVER WRITTEN and Sung by Legends. People think Led Zeppelin are a hard Rock band but NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER THAN THE TRUTH....!! This and Stairway to Heaven are Ballads which are Beautiful in their own right. Peace Young Lady...!!
this song was a result of George Harrison saying to Led zeppelin that they had not done any ballads, so Jimmy and Robert came back with this and used the same cords George used in "Something" as a homage to him, it also shows Jimmy's brilliance by using a very unique guitar tuning, great song.
it's even stranger than that,George said they can't do a ballad so Jimmy wrote a song using the first 3 chords from the Beatles' something, which George of course wrote
That's one of those songs that I'll play in the morning when the sun is just coming up and have nothing to really do! It's a calming song and it will make your mind think about anything and everything! It makes the day go better! Another great song by the greatest band!
Those guys brought all these influences to the table. John Paul Jones and Jimmy page had been session players since waaay back when. They absorbed all the recording techniques, the songwriting, the genres, BEFORE they ever started this group. Page and Plant really loved traditional Celtic Music and Folk/Celtic stuff that was contemporary to them. They had ALL of that, and I'm sure most bands in the UK in the late sixties had access to those influences. But the arranging and songwriting and musicianship and quality of recording was just moved up 10000000% with these guys. These are the seasons of emotion; and like the wind, they rise and fall. This is the wonder of devotion; I see the torch we all must hold. This is the mystery of the quotient; upon us all a little rain must fall (just a little rain). One of my all-time favorite ballads.
That moment when the lounge singer says, "Thank you! You're marvelous! I'm gonna take the room down for a second..." - Zeppelin invented that shit! Or at least perfected it.
I considered walking down the aisle to this beautiful song but it was a bit too long. I find the lyrics are some of the most beautiful I have ever heard so I quoted them in a letter to my husband on our wedding morning. This is always going to be special - Led Zeppelin are special. Why are my eyes watering 🥲
Oh yeah the whole concept of a stereo track was pretty new when Zep was playing in the studio, so experimenting with how to use the left and right channels to deliver new experiences was part of their jam. It's something that has been a little lost now that stereo is ubiquitous.
I don’t think I’ve commented on any of your videos, but I love your reaction videos. Glad you were really feeling this one. It’s my favorite Led Zeppelin song. This was one of the first complete songs I learned on guitar. The guitar tuning used by Jimmy Page on this song is often called “Rain Song” tuning. Amazing reaction, thanks for this one.
Thaaaank You!!! It is incredible to see on your face what I have always felt when I listen to this song. Robert Plant is like the consumate lover with his vocals here. Soothing hypnotic foreplay and then an earth shattering release with "Ahhh....Hey!" It's a soulgasm!
I think some of the greatest music ever made happened in the 70's. Bands today are not creating music like this. The layering of the instruments in the arrangement , people actually playing their instruments , no auto tune just pure talent. The versatility of Led Zeppelin was a thing of beauty to hear like The Beatles before them. This is classic rock for a reason , timeless !
One of my all time Zep favorites! One of the most beautiful songs I've heard in my lifetime. Sadly, Robert Plant lost a son while he was in the US touring. I am not positive, but I think some of the lyrics may about that. "I felt the coldness of my winter, I never thought it would ever go, I curse the gloom that set upon us, but I know, that I love you so." "Just a little rain must fall." NEVER gets old! Always LOVE to hear this! Love your reactions lady! Keep on keepin' on!
This beautiful melody was composed by Jimmy and Robert wrote the lyrics. It was in response to a comment by the Beatles George Harrison who said to John Bonham that LZ never wrote a ballad and by implication, most likely couldn't. I say this is every bit as good as any piece the Beatles wrote. The theme is wonderful, but like all Zeppelin music, it is the full texture of development that brings so much more to it. You said it all, "It's Led Zeppelin!" Nothing more to say. I love that you call this your "Zepathon." About time someone did this and you are the perfect one since You seem to appreciate them as much as we do. Thanks Jayy for this and all your reactions!!!!!! If I might request, as a part of the Zeppathon, you might do "In My Time of Dying." A wonderful prayer almost.
I walked down the aisle to this song at my wedding and I knew I would the first time I heard this song when I was probably 14 years old. I always thank my dad for introducing me to such great artists growing up ❤️
I know you love Robert’s voice... he also has a great solo career after Bonham died. He reinvented himself time and time again. You’ll love his solo stuff
You're one of the few, who does reaction videos to Zeppelins studio material..It's a relief to see an honest reaction to some of the most beautiful music created nearly 50 years ago.🦅💙
One reason the guitar sounds so beautiful, open G tuning was used, meaning that, with no fingers on the fretboard, the strings form a G chord when strummed. This allows for unusual and beautiful chords.
I love these reaction videos coz they make me listen to this music with fresh ears. I'd almost forgotten how beautiful it is. Like taken it for granted, it was the soundtrack of my youth. But yuour reaction reminds mew of what it was like when i first heard it. Awesome then and still is.
I don't think I'll ever see or hear of another band that will come close to their ability to give the listener such a range of emotions. Certainly not in my lfetime. Little did I realise when I bought their first album 50 years ago, that I was witnessing complete genius in the making. Their music has affected my life in so many positive ways. Thank you guys.
We have not just Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin to thank for this gorgeous ballad, but also George Harrison. You see, George attended a Zeppelin concert in '72 and, while very impressed, he said to John Bonham, "The only problem with you guys is that you don't do any ballads. Where are the ballads?" (I'm guessing the band didn't play, "Thank You", the night George attended.) Well, Bonzo told Jimmy what George had said, and Jimmy took it as a challenge to write a beautiful ballad for their next album. I never saw a comment from George as to what he thought of, "The Rain Song". But given its sheer beauty, I would think he loved it as much as we do. Furthermore, I would think that he must've been especially chuffed, not just that the biggest band in the world wrote a magnificent song based on his request, but that Jimmy paid homage to the former Beatle by borrowing the first two chords of, "Something", as the opening two chords of, "The Rain Song".
The whole “channel effect “ Left and right you are talking about was new at the time and several bands accentuated that effect. What’s amazing is how they can make it sound like there’s a THIRD channel in the middle and in the back of your head 😎.
Yes Javy......You got it!! Beautiful song, and that boy could reach into your heart with that voice. I am old, so I bought every album , well at least the first 4 or five, when they were released. I really liked how much you liked this!

Jimmy, best guitarist, Robert, best vocalist, John, best drummer!!! John Paul Jones... the best and only John Paul EVER. SOOO Underrated
I've always appreciated JPJ & he was Page's first choice to help him complete the Yardbirds tour after they broke up.

I learned to play this song in its adapted tuning . its an amazing piece of music , but arent all Zep tunes x
Its also interesting that Jimmy Page was like the dark prince, and Robert Plant was like the golden god.
Jimmy Page mixed and produced all their albums!! A true genius!
All those session hours he spent in the 60's learning from some of the best...
Don’t forget about master string arranger and multinstrumentalist John Paul Jones he was just as important.

@@kesolino it's like a cardinal sin to separate the songs
Yes Javy......You got it!! Beautiful song, and that boy could reach into your heart with that voice. I am old, so I bought every album , well at least the first 4 or five, when they were released. I really liked how much you liked this!
God I remember hitting a bong in the 70s and laying on the floor listening to this. Wish I could go back.
Looking at you looking like a led zeppelin lion and listening to the rain song was very enjoyable experience 🔥
Led Zeppelin is like riding a Harley while painting a Faberge egg.
you are amazing to watch expressing the emotions Zeppelin conveys... you take me back in time
