Fantastic cab. They need to make all of their cabs like this going forward. I’m going to stay with my original Golden Tee cab but looking forward to what they do in the future with their other cabs.

Great review! This cab looks pretty nice. I just wish they started to include some newer Golden Tee games. To me it's not worth upgrading if you have the previous Golden Tee cab.

Hello from the Midlands, UK. I'm picking mine up tomorrow. With six golf games, each with three courses with 18 holes, I think I'll get years of playtime out of it. I'm really looking forward to using the trackball. I think that control method will make this cabinet special.
Phenomenal review, one of your best PDubs. Very excited to see this one in person. Seems like we'll never get a perfect cabinet though. Disappointing to hear they fixed the speakers, but the monitor is a step down.

Unfortunately the monitor is a deal breaker for me I think it looks bad right from standing in front of it for the price there is no excuse for cheapening out on the monitor
To me the laptop size displays were a deal breaker- I was ticked Buck Hunter has a 17"- criminal for a light gun game. Have you seen one live, or basing on the vid here? LCD in angles can be dull.
Surprised only one bracket on each side of bottom panels. Seems 2 would be better? Also maybe the monitor seems washed out from angles because the monitor is angled back way more?
Great review. This is a tempting cabinet to buy. I have the oringal GT and love it but Shuffle Shot and World Class Bowling are great editions to this cab. Only thing holding me back is the price tag here in Canada 🇨🇦 $899 + tax makes it over a grand 💰 💰 💰
Holy geez. I didn't think this machine was all that great until now. Now I"m thinking of buying one. I would sit at the bar for hours on end downing beer while playing this game. It looks as good or even better than the old machines.
@@BearsSeasonTickets there's a chain of furniture stores that does these flash sales every now and then called RC Wileys. They only operate in a few states. If you're looking for something in particular, you have to check daily. I got my Pong Pub table from them for about the same price.
Fantastic review. It will be in my arcade as soon as I can grab one. Love the Golden Tee off to the side in the background in the shuffle shot game. lol
just received my GT XL. the screen is very washed out no matter what angle. It looks great if you are close and straight to the screen. Beyond 1 foot away, washout, any angle you stand washed out. Will be upgrading monitor. the new ones are not near the quality they should be for a "XL" imo.
Great video! Every review I've seen on this cabnet talks about the monitor. I hope Arcade1Up is listening. This will be my 6th cabnet purchased from them and I'd like to think they listen to their customers.
One thing I was thinking you could do for the washout is buy an LCD Controller board for the monitor, like you would when modding an A1UP cab for a PI or computer. Believe the 19" Monitor in there is 1280 x 1024, so the LCD controller board you buy for the Gen 1 A1UP monitors may work. Because the Golden Tee PCB has HDMI output, may be able to then plug the HDMI out from the Golden Tee to the LCD Controller board. Then can control the brightness/contrast from the control panel on the LCD Controller board to possible get rid of the washout. Just a thought.
Out of all my 8 cabs, Golden Tee has gotten the most play. Absolutely love playing it. I would kill for a bigger version but the only real benefit is a 2” bigger screen. The rest is just for looks really. I can’t pay $700 for that. Wish we got this size and angled screen to begin with
Thank you. Exactly the review I was looking for after 2 hours. Well done. I really want to get but I honestly am not a golf fan and would only buy for the Bowling and Shuffleboard. I think I better just wait.
Love the no riser new design. No more washed out marquee is great. Not a fan of this cab in particular but am very excited for the new model! Great review!
Form factor looks great and much closer to real arcades... Might have to check this out when it gets to the inevitable $500 price point. Not sure why the cheaped out the monitor.. the iircade has a great 19" monitor
Thanks for your review and insights into this cab. I think the form factor and games list is awesome but I am a bit bummed out with the monitor. Why did they cheap out on the monitor? It makes no sense. BTW, mine is still sitting in California.
Saw a lot of complaints on Best buy saying the screen is really bad. If you aren't looking directly at the screen (from the side) its horribly washed out. How bad do you think it really is? Are those reviews just being too harsh?
@@PDubsArcadeLoft Thanks Yes I heard your comments and seemed like you were somewhat okay with it. Others seems to think its a non starter. Just wish there was a consensus view :)
This is great to see, im not really a fan of the tee off games but seeing how much improvement arcade1UP did from the original is impressive. I hope they improve even more by the time the Killer Instinct Pro drops along with the new MK machine.
@@PDubsArcadeLoft That is the area I'm hoping for improvement. I'm hoping they will hear people out on the Golden Tee mods screens and try improve before releasing KI.
Great summary PDubs. What’s the difference between all the versions of golden tee ‘97, ‘98, 2k, 3D? Graphics seem to look similar but not sure about performance etc.
It's too bad about the monitor. This is a game you want to play with friends when you have them over. It would be nice if the viewing angles were a little better. Not the worst, and not a show-stopper for me, but hopefully they go with a better monitor for any other cabs that will have the 19" one. Also agree would have been nice to have one other game even if it meant losing one of the golf games. Silver strike bowling would have been nice - but maybe too much for the pcb they used. As always, a great and very thorough review.
Damn FOMO just got me!! Told myself i was going to keep my original one for now, but this review changed my mind and i just bought it. Sold my original one to my niece for 200 bucks which i think is fair. Damn you PDUBS!!!
Wish the Buck Hunter cab was this size, along with display. What size is the display? Looks like a big, space wasting bezel. Edit: 19" is better. Bezel needed for control decals.
I have the original,it does not get played much at all so after I sell mine I may not replace it. If the price drops maybe I’ll pick it up but not sure.
Part of the reason shuffleshot might be stuttering: it has to do with the way the graphics are rendered, obviously no 3D here. The pseudo-3D technique that is used to render the game is prerendered, when the puck slows down the framerate of the "scrolling" slows down (the alley and background is essentially a video, its like slowing down a 30fps video to 15, 10, 5, etc to give the effect of the puck slowing down). So as the puck goes down the alley it will become more stuttery. The game does this on original hardware as well, unless there are other emulation issues I haven't noticed. I wish BestBuy would hurry up already! I want this cabinet to be in my gameroom! Great review as always.
I finally got one! got it price matched with the older model at best buy for 499.99 then used 140 in rewards so it came out to 380. So im happy , but i don't know why this was the most difficult build iv'e ever done lol.. my b3 panel had the holes for the brackets in the wrong place do i had to make my own but its together and working. The screen doesn't bother me really cause you play it up close but it does look crazy from a far or at a angle. My last complaint is that this artwork on the side panels is prolly the worst in the sense that it comes off or becomes damaged so easily.
Played the World Class Bowling on the ALU and the track ball seems very hard to control accurately. Also have played Shuffle and I don't see any hesitation and it seems to work fine but it's been awhile since I played it. But I will play it again and verify.
You mentioned create your own aviator. I cannot seem to find that option anywhere in the settings. Can you please explain if I’m doing something wrong. Thanks.
Now if I was going to do a coin door I would totally take advantage of that longer wider base and add the second droor like on real arcades that houses the coin buckets and I would buy actual coin buckets! I tried on the 3/4 but couldn’t come up with a good solution
Hey Pdubs, great review!! I think some rounded T-Molding would add a lot to the look of the cabinet. I also feel like the bezel around the monitor is some empty space that would look much better with some form of design or pattern printed onto. I personally think the headphone jack is in a less than ideal place and aesthetically, a black ring around the trackball rather than a white one would have made it look a little less generic. But overall, A1up is heading in the right direction with this one!
I wonder if they will offer a downloadable add on game option. Kinda like they did with the Outrun cab. Add on that corn hole or darts game. I'd even pay for it.
I've said it before but it feels like arcade 1up takes 1 step forward and one step back. Overall its beautiful and i love it but I hate that they would go back to having monitors with crappy viewing angles. Maybe that's the sacrifice they had to make to get the 2 extra inches and keep cost down.
Good review, disappointing about the monitor. Looked like even straight on with your video footage the top left was washing out. Guessing that wouldn't be seen when physically in front of it. I have a nice full size MAME cabinet with a trackball and can play all these games. I got rid of all my A1ups a while ago but the one I miss the most was the Golden Tee, always felt better playing on that instead. Very tempting with all the online leaderboards, such a good feature they are implementing in to these cabs now.
OHHH i had to delete my optimism... this baby has a horrible score on bestbuy. Citing the TN panel as you mentioned but much less forgiving, freezing issues, and trackball problems. DAMN IT A1UP! Cmon man, i like... WANT to buy your stuff but ya gotta step up that quality.
Wow I’m just blown away by the cabs improvements from the other series seems like they’ve improved almost everything I hoped they would like how it’s slightly taller and wider but not too much to take up space I don’t have one but from looking it seems like just the right size now and the marquee looks better and has molding finally and the bigger slanted screen and panel will make gaming more comfortable one gripe I see that kinda bothers me is the line on the side maybe where it comes together? But either way it shows they are listening to the fans and slowly improving I really hope they make an mk2 pro version if so I’m putting a real pcb and crt in that thing
PDubs, First the positives. Great Review! Beautiful looking side art and solid games line up! I'm also glad the trackball is great! This is one I almost pre-ordered :) Although the news was bad regarding the monitor, I'm glad you were straight with us, as you always are. Man, if we have to go through a generation of bad monitors at the 19" size, I'm going to scream. As much as I love iiRcade, I had this same kind of substandard monitor in their premium Dragon's Lair edition. Luckily their newer Space Ace model had a better monitor. This alone, however, makes this a no-buy for me. I don't need another eye-sore in my Arcade. Charging this much money, heck, who am I kidding, I'm not going to accept this kind of cheap quality. I already did this with Arcade1up's many BS countercades. Thank you again for your honest feedback. I'm going to wait to see if Arcade1up can eventually get Silver Strike bowling along with some of the newer versions of Golden Tee. Oh, and I know this is purely subjective, but the art on the marquee is REALLY BAD (just my opinion, of course). It looks like someone put it together adding some photo assets to Microsoft Paint on Windows 95'. Oogly :( Thanks again for the review! vgv
PDubs, Amen to that! I literally have no more space in my main arcade, so these companies really need to step up their game if they want me to buy in :) I can't wait to see your Q*bert in action. For the money you paid, I hope everything came in working order. I watched a video where Kongs R Us picked up his new cab from the same auction and unfortunately, there was something wrong with one of the play areas. That would've been a cancellation for me, for sure, if that is even possible with these types of auctions. I understand these machines aren't new, but the machine needs to at least work and in a fashion as it did in the arcade. I almost bid on the Boot Hill, but this unknown stopped me. I hope you fared better. Keeping good thoughts on Q*bert :) vgv
they're going to make us rebuy everything aren't they? 250 sale cabs are amazing and will always have there place, but these likely limited quanity one off super premiums are just a whole nother level.
That line along the control panel is very polarizing and not in a good way. Also, huge mistake not making an integrated riser that still allows the cabinet to seperate into two parts. It would have made it much more convient to move up and down stairs and to place them into vehicles for transporting, like the current versions are. This company needed someone from the beginning with better thinking and engineering skills. None of this was rocket science. These should have and could have been built much closer to this design from the beginning. They just love making us feel like we need an upgrade ever few months.
Another great video, Pdubs! Did your Best Buy delivery get bumped up? Mine is arriving in 2 days! What's the power button like on this? Will I be able to turn it on and off using a smart plug? "Alexa, turn on Golden Tee." 😁
Aww damn. I was really hoping it would. I control practically everything in my basement via my voice! With all the talk about the monitor, I'm debating whether or not I'm even going to open the box when it's delivered. Is the monitor really THAT bad? I'm kinda torn right now.
Good review PDubs! Maybe I overlooked the dimensions? Are you able to say how wide these XL arcades are? Do you happen to know the width of this cab? Now a lot of people are going to want to replace their old Arcade1up cabs with these... 🤔😁
It’s not Arcade1up anymore..it’s a straight up arcade game. I accidentally put the coin panel upside down..”Well now it’s a contemporary art piece, what do want me to tell ya?” I wish the club selection was button select instead of the ball. Having a track ball issue..it’s stalls mid swing and messes my shot up. Any fixes for that? May be user error too.
At $700 there should be no i can live with it. Still can't get a cab done without something a miss. Love the shape and direction marquees are going. But I can do all this on alu with a better trackball imo tho not room for follow through but pass here. Good detailed review 👍

Looks great, but the music around the 3:40 mark seems really slow compared to the MAME version. Similar to the audio issue that the T2 cabinet has.
Looks like a winner! Nice cabinet. Hope it helps to offset your disappointment over the Q-Bert cabinet issue :(
I wonder if they will offer a downloadable add on game option.
Agreed 👍
Fantastic Review
Thanks Dude 👊 🤓
@@PDubsArcadeLoft I want one but trying to pick 1 maybe 2 max this year. Ki pro or maybe something else calling my name. Trying to hold off.
Watched some shuffle shot footage from real hardware and seems to have the same stuttering/choppiness. Wonder if it is in fact emulated properly?
Appreciate the intel that’s what I was reading when looking up that game
Hey Dubs. Today's updated made mine freeze sometimes...
Yep they broke the machine..what a joke of an update
You could literally put a crt in there in no problem and still have making space
this cabinet is a fattie lol
P DUBS! Great review... give us more!
Thank you 👊 🤓
Good review, disappointing about the monitor.
I have to say. It was hard to capture the screen with a camera. It does look better to the naked eye but still washed out
@@PDubsArcadeLoft screen looked ok sitting? Thank you!
Those reviews were before arcade1up sent out a firmware fix that fixed most of that stuff
PDubs,
First the positives. Great Review! Beautiful looking side art and solid games line up! I'm also glad the trackball is great! This is one I almost pre-ordered :)
Although the news was bad regarding the monitor, I'm glad you were straight with us, as you always are.
Oogly :(
Thanks again for the review!

Hey buddy this might be the only XL cab I get if others confirm same monitor on KI and NBA Jam.
PDubs,
Amen to that! Keeping good thoughts on Q*bert :)

Hmmm which arcade was this replica based on? I don’t recall it.
they're going to make us rebuy everything aren't they? 250 sale cabs are amazing and will always have there place, but these likely limited quanity one off super premiums are just a whole nother level.
Oh man I hope not
That line along the control panel is very polarizing and not in a good way.
Appreciate the feedback 🙏
Another great video, Pdubs! Did your Best Buy delivery get bumped up? Mine is arriving in 2 days! What's the power button like on this? Will I be able to turn it on and off using a smart plug? "Alexa, turn on Golden Tee." 😁
Yes best buy got bumped up, this one won't work with a smart plug
22 inches wide. 22 inches deep. 66 inches tall.
@@P0LSKI Thanks, like I say I probably missed that somewhere there. 😁
had them on the screen around the :30 second mark - 22" wide - so not that much wider than a normal arcade1up - maybe about 2" wider.
@@PDubsArcadeLoft Thank you
I like your idea for adding a cornhole game. But wouldn't they have to add another trackball for authenticity? 🤪
I was just shooting from the hip in the voice over I meant to say ski ball
@@PDubsArcadeLoft Up in New England I used to play that a lot but it was spelled Skee Ball on the machines.
Except from Shuffleshot, I believe that all the other games haven't aged well at all. They should have included some of the newer games.
Cost wouldve been much higher
Can you pause Golden Tee during a game? The original can't and would be great if you could pause it.
Yes every game has a pause feature
@@PDubsArcadeLoft thanks... Looks to be worth the upgrade.
What scale size would you consider this cab?
Big Boy Scale
It’s not Arcade1up anymore..it’s a straight up arcade game. I accidentally put the coin panel upside down..”Well now it’s a contemporary art piece, what do want me to tell ya?”
I wish the club selection was button select instead of the ball.
Having a track ball issue..it’s stalls mid swing and messes my shot up. Any fixes for that? May be user error too.
No they released a firmware that broke the cabinet
At $700 there should be no i can live with it. Still can't get a cab done without something a miss. Love the shape and direction marquees are going. But I can do all this on alu with a better trackball imo tho not room for follow through but pass here. Good detailed review 👍
I hear ya Bones the Monitor is the only real issue I can find on this cabinet, but it's such an important piece. Luckily I play by myself 99% of the time.
@@PDubsArcadeLoft not trying to be super picky but its like cmon already and get it together. They have a potential they seem to not want to reach. Going forward it'll monitor gate! Really do love the shape tho.
Why is there no flyby feature to see the entire hole at tee-off?
I don't think those games had this feature back then, these are old ass original games
@@PDubsArcadeLoft I wonder when that feature came to be?
@@joshuaupham5993 IDK I'm sure you could Google it, etc.
Can you see if the new trackball is compatible with the 3/4 scale?
I got my first update to golden tee 3d and now my bowling freezes apon rolling the ball it gets stuckat the line and then gutters everytime.
Yep they released a firmware update that broke the machines.
Sucks bad they need to hurry and fiiiiixxxx,
Somebody please make a 25 inch 4x3 monitor
It's got so much room that you can add your own color commentator!
lol love it thanks for the giggles
Any Info on Decals for the front
Not that I know of, maybe check Arcade Graphx website
Great review pdubs but we know that screen will always be suspect
It's not the best for sure
I want one!
Dragon's Lair XL!!!
I think it'll be Tron Size like this one
The At games killer is here
8 games only...I doubt it lol
Def seems like they are leaning that way. No riser, assembly is similar, speaker grills identical. I say it's about time 1up
