How to CORRECTLY use the preacher curl machine

  • Alright, here’s how to do preacher curls. first adjust the seat so that your armpits rest comfortably against the pad and your shoulders are locked in place. Then stand up and grab the handles with a shoulder width grip while slightly lifting it up and getting into position. From here, extend your arms to stretch your biceps, then push your palms up and towards you and think of curling the weight in a rainbow shape motion. Slightly lifting your elbows off the pad at the top is totally fine, just don’t cave them inwards and make sure to keep your shoulders locked in place. Squeeze at the top and very slowly control the weight down by fully extending your arms.

    Execution on this machine is very important since the biceps are such a small muscle. No need to go super heavy on these. Anywhere from 10-15 reps is what I personally recommend, but feel free to change it up and see what works for you!

      i struggle to grow my biceps can being high fat like 20% hide the bicep muscle? bicep is like the one muscle i been working for the longest since i started working out

      @@bullseye3054 Growing the biceps can be difficult. Aside from tons of pulling exercises, volume is key to grow the biceps. Also, good nutrition and sleep.

      @@bullseye3054 Create super sets for your bicep workouts. For example zottoman curls, incline curls, seated bicep curls, half rep leaning forward curls, hammer curls. These should be all one set something like 5 reps each, with no rest period between. Do 3-4 sets only stopping long enough to catch your breath, the goal is to get as much blood pumping into that muscle. Don’t forget to twist that ring finger on the way up so your palm creates a full stretch to build your bicep peak.

      yeah i was sitting on it backwards. It was putting a lot of pressure on my shoulders reaching around behind my back to grip the handles

      Man... Things i wish i knew...i got kicked out Planet Fitness...again... Apparently all exercises can be performed with your pants pulled up and don't involve your pecker or whatever...
      ***I guess what i was doing was the Priest Curl** with the alter boy grip

      @@lm3thewrapperfacts I’m at 125 thinking I must be doing it wrong. I’ve got the seat as low as it goes (I’m tall) so i know my chest isn’t involved. Three months ago I was struggling at 60. I’m 4 months into the gym btw

    An additional thing you can try is to do the eccentric with one hand only, switching the left and the right of course. This creates far more muscle damage during the eccentric phase of the movement.

    My gym has 2 types of preachers this one ur using and another where the handles can spin and it gives weird grip and everyone avoids it. If you have that kind can u do a vid on it

    I'm totally scared of this rype of curl because it isolates so well that I'm afraid of not knowing how much I can curl without injuring. So I just to standing barbell curls

    I use open palms instead of gripping the handles because I noticed my forearms were receiving all tension

      Similar exercises but machines provide constant tension on the muscles. But if you want to focus on one arm at a time then go for dumbells on incline bench :) hope it helps

    I injured my ligaments a bit for 2 weeks because I fully lowered the weight down and whole weight was on my elbow fully extended. Also 1 guy in the gym got hurt like that. I prefer to not fully extend arms but really close to fully extension.

      Not necessarily. If you can cheat a bit and not fully stretch, then you can load up the bar more, and mechanical tension is what’s gonna make your muscles grow. Form nazis tend to be smaller than guys who cheat a bit intelligently to get progressive overload

      Put a cactus on the seat and sit on top of it, that will provide you with the right adjustment and perfect EZ curl.

    Wanne make it even harder? Don't GRAB the handle, lay in on the lowest part of ur hand, just above ur wrist. It's such a hard pump and a great bicep finisher!

      @@Facecel_Lay and rest the handles on your hand just above your wrist with open palms and curl. This is harder because if you grip, you are using your forearms to help you curl the weight.
