    • @bottomofastairwell
      @bottomofastairwell 3 года назад +23

      so one of the things i do to combat waste is put plastic sheeting down (like from the hardware store) underneath where i pour. then i can peel up the skins (the excess paint) once it's dry, and use that for stuff. whether i use cool pieces in other painting, or use resin to turn it into jewelry. sometimes, you can even mix the wet drips together and get a cool color, then i'll just scrape it into a cup and use that for another pour. it helps that i sit on my floor though, and that's coated in plastic in my studio, lol

      To make cells, you can use flame or elmers glue. The ratio is for every 2 oz of paint 1 oz of glue. With silicone, I do 10 to 25 drops per 8 oz of paint. I have been doing this for a week and have watched a few other artists such as Molly she's great. My problem is, they never say how big the canvas is that they are working on. I made 3 beautiful pieces in just a few days. I put them in my email so I can watch them at my own place. Happy Pouring, everyone!

      Hi Prabhjyot, unfortunately there is no straight answer to that because all paint pigments have a different density/consistency. Add water to the paint a little at a time until the paint pours off in one stream from your stir stick. Best to practice on small pieces till you get the hang of it. Just experiment and have fun, if you don’t like what you see just scrape it off and try again. It’s awesome playing with colours, you’ll love it.

      Carla, think about your ?. COMMON SENSE dictates how you would use the blower. DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR HAND HELD with every move you make in life? LOGIC says if the blower is on high & blows too fast, too hot, or two great an area, you would have a problem. You don't need the video person OR ME to tell you that. I am astounded that you admire the TALENT...Try it and you will see that
      EVERYONE HAS THIS TALENT....IT IS NOT PICASSO, REMBRANDT, CHAGALL talent. It is someone enjoying the mix of colors--period.

      @@paulicymet190 wow…that was pretty extreme. If you thought her question stupid, you should have just moved on. She was not even asking you. @@Kathy-Carr You are entitled to your opinion, Kathy. THAT WAS my opinion, and whether it was called for or not is MOOT because if one posts something on the net, other people are entitled to react to the post.. If you are so thin skinned that a difference of perspective gets your knickers in a twist, then best not to post at all.. Not at all nice, you say, makes me laugh. It is such a mama bear coming to the rescue of an innocent cub number..Probably not a new move for you, but a repeat that makes you feel like Joan of Arc. As it is, i know all about different pours and despite your comment, most are exactly that, "point and shoot", despite any affectation of the artist. . Paint pourers, including me, are not PICASSO, REMBRANDT, DA VINCI. See the art form for what it is - something wonderfully positive to get people in touch with a creative side they may never have explored prior, but that doesn't make one a great master. I will not apologize for having a candid, direct response to a ? by someone who did not take the time to explore the idea before asking, & if that offends you, so be it. You are correct, I could have said "what a ********" & moved on, but that was not my choice as I do not fear confrontations, including yours with me. NEXT..

    • @paulicymet190
      @paulicymet190 3 года назад +4

      That mess up is just one expression-it can be altered-that's the beauty of abstract art. Do not punish yourself for your perception of being less than perfect. I could see one painting and say "ugh, awful, horrid, ugly"" & you could see the same piece and LOVE it! Art is just a beautiful expression of what you were hoping to see in your work as it was in your mind. I design, paint & write. Sometimes I write a passage & next day look at it, and shred it & start over. The beauty of any art is IN THE PROCESS...i DO THE SAME with jewelry design when I can't quite get a design where I want it to be--I walk away & when I return, it falls into place or I leave it for a period & try again at a later time or NEVER.. Same with creating a painting--the JOY is in the JOURNEY! P.S. I was told that if you strain your FLOETROL & get out any chunks or bits 'n bobbles, it is very helpful to add movement liquidity to your paint.and a smoother pour. Hope that tip helps you. It's all a matter of experimentation....

    Hi, thanks for showing this technique. I am allergic to resin, alcohol and I have many acrylic paints in many colors including metallics, now I can practice on heavy paper and perhaps I can enhance with embossing tools as well. Is there anyway to seal or fixate the acrylics? Thanks.

      Hey! I’ve made a few paintings like this and I like to use a high gloss varnish to seal them afterwards. I don’t know how well it would work on paper, I used canvases. Please do be careful though because I don’t know how it might affect your allergies! ☺️

    Hi Erica! I love your paintings and I am a beginner! I tried to follow your steps, using colors added to water (rate 60 color 40 water). I used no floetrol nor silicon.
    When I blowed with hair dryer it turned into a disaster!!!! The torch also could not make the cells I love... could I send you an email with the pics so you can tell me what was wrong??? Please please!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

      I would say it's about airflow only not a temperature. You don't want the paint to dry quickly so cold air does its job well.

    The cells and everything used here is strictly acrylic paint and water? No cell medium, pour medium, anything else? What is the ratio does it differ for white/colors/cells?

    This is beautiful!! I enjoyed your painting! But.....how did you get the cells in this without some kind of oil or silicone....water and oil don't mix, that's why the cells pop up in most pour paintings I have watched, and tried. So....I'm just asking.....Thanks!!

      Could be possible she added oil in golden colour because if you can see only few cells have been formed.

    • @octogirl2046

      She must have added oil to the paint. The heat gun also promotes cells.

      I am not sure I’m the right person to ask. But I think the heat brings out the cells so you would need a stronger heat than a hairdryer

    Hey Erica, love this piece and technique. Can you please tell the ratio in which you mix colors with water? Can we eyeball it or should it be measured precisely?

    • @sarahboan8756
      @sarahboan8756 2 года назад +7

      I don't know what she uses as a ratio, but I use 1:1 ratio. So 1oz of acrylic paint and 1oz of water. Obviously I am using more than 1oz usually but that's usually what I use. At first I was very careful with measurements and once you get into it, if I am mixing another medium such as mica powder then I would kind of account for that. It's really kind of what looks right to you and as you go you'll kind of get a feel for it. She does offer classes, I took one before I started and that helped me immensely. I think they are worth it because the cost of supplies is sometimes high and it sucks when the piece is not what you wanted.
