Being French, I decided to go for a more French pronunciation, as this writing system was named after its creator, the French teacher Louis Braille. It may be incorrect, but it is on purpose... for once!
Pretty sure I already commented the same video to you before, but you can now "legitimately" trigger these events with the reverse-engineered mods that Goppier and his friend made. Good luck on the rest of your Gen 3 Living Pokédex! ruclips.net/video/NKBb-YS34wg/видео.html
I was very confused as to what you were talking about in regards to braille as I was only listening to the video, which considering that braille is generally for people that can't see video in the first place... maybe not the best word to choose a nonstandard pronunciation :P Great vid nonetheless.
18:57 if I remember correctly, the pattern is supposed to be a joke. It's the circuit board for the cartridge of Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. ....and it's full of bugs.
I always liked the Sevii Islands. They kind of made me wonder if they were supposed to be like the games' attempt at making a version of the Orange Islands from the anime in game form.
Forgot to mention the following: - Sevii is based on the Izu Islands (as seen in the IRL Kanto map at the start of the video, directly south of Mt. Silver) - During the second visit, the League can't be challenged as Lorelei is absent. - After completing the second visit the League gets upgraded. (Johto 'mons, Gen 2~3 Evolutions, Lv61+ 'mons for the E4 and Lv69+ for the Rival; with a Lv75 Starter, this puts them much closer to the Red Fight in Gens 2/4) I love these islands and HGSS/Let's Go lost points with me for not bringing them back.
HGSS I understand at least why they didn’t include them, there’s tons of stuff in the game already - but let’s go needed something like the islands for sure
@@hanakoisbestgirl4752 To the islands. As the video explains, the Sevii Islands can be visited after beating Cinnabar Gym, that's the first visit. Second visit is the post-E4 with full access and its questline.
I remember getting to the Sevii Islands for the first time and being absolutely blown away. They *are* small, but as a kid who didn't expect anything new from these remakes, this was like discovering Kanto in GSC all over again. This is one of those few moments I'm kinda glad I didn't have much internet access back then. My favorite spot on the islands was the hotsprings one One Island, because they had some of my favorite trainers to rebattle right outside and because I didn't know the concept of hotsprings back then and found them fascinating - even moreso than in RSE, because these were located in a cave.
"This is one of those few moments I'm kinda glad I didn't have much internet access back then" Boy do I feel this. When I stumbled across the rest of the Sevii islands after getting 60 mons, the sense of discovery and exploration was awesome. I've yet to feel that same feeling from another pokemon game, I find it way too easy to get annoyed with something to end up just looking it up
Yeah they're each so cozy to check out. The feeling of being out in the sea, warm aromas of berries ripe in the breeze, even the place names. They're remote but not isolated feeling. One of the places from a game I would love visiting irl!
Fun fact about moltres in these games: in victory road if you go to where Moltres would be at in Gen 1, You will find some of it's feathers on the Ground instead, pretty much stating that Moltres WAS there, but it flew off before we went to One Island for the first Time!
the onix monument is really cool and clever and i’m glad you took some time to gush about it but i could never help but think it looks like he just buried his onix head first with the body sticking straight up out of the ground
Yeah, I thought about mentioning this, but it would have ruined the moment. Also, Onix rocks are rounder, so it is probably not the case... probably...
Honestly I think that the Sevii islands were my favorite part where I first played fire red, I couldn't speak english very well so I didn't pay much attention to the plot (I think I gave a drink to the guard by pure accident), but the little plot line of the lost girl was impossible to miss, it was the first side quest I've ever experienced in a game and I loved it so much. And finding Moltress there was also so cool.
Agreed those islands were a great post-game content. They seemed exotic and were fun to explore, like you were pushing the boundaries of the unknown. Excellent unique score, fun diversity of locations. Great memories overall.
@D leafgreen was my first game too. I remember not knowing how to exchange Pokémon in the pc, getting stuck in the silph co. puzzles and other stuff. The joys of the first Pokémon game.
It is one of the main pros of having a directed storyline. I tend to prefer open-world gameplay more, but making sure the player actually experiences what the islands have to offer is no bad thing! Happy to know you enjoyed them, I also did quite a bit :'D
What?! I had no idea, this is so cool! LeafGreen was my first ever videogame when I was 5 years old... to think that I still learn new things about this game to this day is amazing.
The Sevii Islands are a really nice thematic contrast with Kanto - these very small, rural island communities with a much larger presence of nature and less artificial structures. The town areas feel modest and don't impede on the surroundings, and some of the NPCs will talk about the slower pace of life there. I think this theme even blends into the islands' gameplay - there are no incredible rewards for anything you do there, but there is a lot of fun to be had in discovering the small events and simply enjoying the summer-adventure atmosphere.
I noticed in Legends Arceus that there's a reference to the Sevii Islands. The restaurant that eventually pops up in the game (the one with the radish woman, not the potato mochi one) is named Sevii Kitchen on the map. I haven't been able to find transcripts of what all the villagers say, so I dunno if any of them are *from* the Sevii Islands, but it was nice just to get that nod.
That's good to know. I was starting to think that the Sevii Islands and Sinjoh Ruins got retconned, but they made sure to include some references in PLA.
If you read the signs when you first enter the islands, you’ll see they have actual names. One Island is Knot Island Two Island is Boon Island Three Island is Kin Island Four Island is Floe Island Five Island is Chrono Island Six Island is Fortune Island Seven Island is Quest Island
As a kid, I always found Tectonix's memorial to be very sweet, as an adult, I realized that's the ass end of an Onix sticking out of the ground because it's far too long to be fully buried by a person. Still a sweet memorial though.
Island 5 and 7 had some unique trainers where if you rebattle them frequently you get benefits such as money and lots of exp to level up possibly to level 100.
The Sevii Islands in FRLG is one of the MOST UNDERRATED parts of ANY game! They nailed the Gen 2 music and nostalgic aesthetics and made it interesting. I can really see it being a NEW region with revamped areas and new places! The biker gang could be the villainous team! I have seen people skip this part of the game SO MANY TIMES and I think the Sevii Islands are unique!
I remember as a kid playing through the first 3 islands, then 8 years later, I wanted to catch Mewtwo, so I looked up a guide on youtube and learned about island 4-7. Made me really appreciate FR&LG. Def my favorite Kanto games
One thing I feel worth mentioning concerning Four Island's Icefall Path is that it feels like a spiritual reference to multiple Johto caves. The entrance is very similar to the entrance to Dragon's Den. The name is very similar to Ice Path, which also has sliding ice puzzles and the NeverMeltIce. This area being the only place to need Waterfall could be referring to either Mt. Mortar or the Tohjo Falls. And the ability to encounter wild Lapras is very similar to the Friday fixed encounter with a Lapras in the depths of Union Cave.
Sevii islands are so nostalgic, they are easily my favorite part about FR/LG. I always wished they made an entire Pokemon game themed around lots of small islands, sun/moon introduced massive main islands for its map but I just found FR/LG Sevii islands so much more fun to explore.
19:32 This explanation sentiment right there is precisely why I'd encourage people to cheat the games to get the mons they want as long as they're not doing anything competitive. Timed events are frustratingly insulting enough, but regional locked ones are just anticonsumer.
Man when I was a kid and realized there were four more Islands I was in love. There's just something so cool and mysterious about the islands. My favorite postgame, I think.
I wanna see the Sevii Islands come back. They always felt so mystical and special, especially with areas like Navel Rock and Birth Island. And the remixed Johto music fit so well.
Don’t forget if you talk to Gideon again after bringing the Sapphire back to Celio he questions you if you’re Giovanni’s child then says you can’t be because Giovanni’s son has red hair, a nod to Silver, our rival in Gen 2, being Giovanni’s son (which i don’t think was even confirmed yet at the time of Gen 3)
LeafGreen was a staple of my childhood, exploring the Sevii Islands was so much fun. I almost cried just now when you were at the memorial and placing the lemonade. Great vid dude
The islands are based on the Izu archipelago, south of real-life Kanto, which is popularly known in Japan as "the Seven Islands of Izu". The Izu islands are governed as a part of the Tokyo Prefecture, which lies in (real life) Kanto; that might explain why the Sevii islands are connected to (fictional) Kanto.
I loved the Sevii Islands. I used to do my grinding on One Island: Use the Vs Seeker on the three fighting type trainers south of the hot spring, send out the trainee Pokémon first, switch to Gengar (as the opponents only know Normal and Fighting moves), obliterate them, rinse and repeat until all trainers are defeated, run to hot spring, heal, return to this spot, and do it all again. It's also where Seadra became my favorite Pokémon. She got me through the area when I was unprepared for it (as I had a mono water team used to take down Blaine, and I was struggling to deal with the trainers at first).
Sevii Islands was the best post-game content for any pokemon game. I loved the Battle Frontier from games such as Platinum, and the Tournaments in BW2. But the amount of content, that was new and full of exploration, available in the Sevii Islands was incredible. I loved it as a kid, and I'll always believe it's the best.
I never knew you needed 60 pokemon in the gen 1 remakes for the national dex. As someone whose first and favorite pokemon game are the gen 2 remakes HGSS, I'm so used to the national dex being handed to the player once they get access to the post game that I'm always shocked when there's a requirement. Like how in gen 4 DP and their remakes you need to see all pokemon in the sinnoh dex to get the national dex.
Well with DP they direct you through the game world in a way where you fight every Trainer and they will have nearly every Pokémon not counting gift Pokémon and Legendaries (you see the opposite Legendary in a book in Celestic Town).
@@ChangedMyNameFinally69 Unless you happen to do the Psychic gym's quiz without missing a question, then you have to wait until a Friday night to get a chance to get Drifloon. Game literally punishes you for being smart.
@@ShashankDancer-m8g Yeah but I'm pretty sure you can fight the Trainers after right? Plus why wouldn't you look for the Drifloon? Pretty sure they mention it
your section on memorial island was really great and i don't think that's something i've ever noticed in the sevii islands before. great video as always lyra :)
The fact that they purposefully blocked held item trade and friendship evolutions behind the national dex makes me angry. They even tease you with the evolution before cancelling it.
I remember being almost driven to madness because regardless of what i did my eevee wouldnt evolve into an espeon my brother had the same problem because he wanted to have umbreon...i played leafgreen my brother firered...so we kinda guessed its not because of a game specific thing but nevertheless we never learned why it didnt evolve...
I always loved the Sevii Islands. I wish there were a few Gen3 Pokémon available on the post-game islands, for those who never had anyone to trade with. As it stands you can only get Wynaut from breeding Wobbufet.
You can also get Azuril without trading because for some unknown reason Maril is a version exclusive in Leafgreen version, and you also have access to the Sea Incense in the Lost Woods Cave so yeah you can technically get 2 Hoenn Pokemon without trading in the post-game.
When I was a kid I didn't know for the longest time these islands didn't exist. And then I was like "man maybe I should flesh out my dex more and see if oak says anything". I passed 60 at some point and my mind was BLOWN. After having played through my fire red cart a handful of times it felt like I unlocked an entire new game to play and explore. Gen 3 remakes will probably forever be my favorite in the whole series
Great video as always! I enjoy the sidebar element that keeps a running summary of what's discussed in each section. I've always been intrigued with the Sevii Islands, I think I'm just a sucker for the trope of having little unique islands to visit. I love that in Wind Waker too.
Fun fact: The pattern bush design is a mega joke. The grass pattern has the layout of a game boy’s circuitry, hence why the only type of Pokémon in Pattern Bush are bugs. It’s just GameFreak cracking a joke at how buggy gen 1 was
I don't think the National Dex requirement is too rough, I mean, at that point in the game most players should have 60 Pokemon registered, assuming they're trying to catch 'em all
The biggest flaw with Sevii Islands to me is how disconnected the islands feel from each other, it probably wouldn't have hurt to introduce a few routes between them as a method of travel instead of using the ferry to travel to each one of them. Also, Navel Rock & Birth Island should have been the rewards for completing the side quest & obtaining the National Dex instead of Mewtwo, would have added to world building. Which is why I absolutely adored the way Prism & Infinite Fusion handled the way you entered the region for the first time. *(SMALL SPOILERS DOWN BELOW)* In Prism, the route to Mt. Ember is accessible from the route before that game's Victory Road equivalent, Seneca Caverns, you might spot a sea route to the east and decide to go there because why not, only to find yourself in Mt. Ember, probably about to have the biggest nostalgic moment of your life. I sure did, they couldn't put the full Sevii Islands into the the game before it was DMCA'd, but they made sure to give you access to the legendary birds. (which are my favorite legendaries in the series design-wise.) Meanwhile, in Infinite Fusion, the ferry gets stolen by the Kanto Mafia, so what's the solution? YOU RACE YOUR WAY THROUGH THE CURRENTS TO CHASE AFTER THEM MF'S. And let's say things go down in Mt. Ember.
I do love when Lyra makes a new video on the dex quest EDIT: one possible correction, but Shuckle is available in Emerald in the postgame Safari Zone areas through Rock Smash, doesn't it hold Berry Juice there?
something worth noting on the frlg altering cave: the encounter pool that was supposed to be there are all findable in emerald's safari zone extension, except smeargle. smeargle can be found in artisan cave on the battle frontier in emerald, at a 100% rate. artisan cave is found by activating a sudowoodo event with your wailmer pail. shuckle is found in the safari zone as a rock smash encounter, so yes you can get berry juice in gen 3, and all the others listed plus a few others are found in the grass or by surfing for the wooper/quagsire, or fishing for remoraid/octillery.
I always have a lot of fondness for the Sevii Islands. They were so elusive to me as a child since I never managed to beat the league and so only got to check the first three islands, but replaying Leaf Green a few years ago allowed me to explore them to their (almost) fullest and even now, they still feel incredibly unique. 🙏
I'm fairly certain that at least Birth Island appears in Emerald, as I remember using a Gameshark to fly to it. Gen 3 is my LEAST favorite of the gens specifically because it felt like you _had_ to cheat in order to access to Deoxys, Jirichi, Mew, and other such events. Maybe I did this on Leaf Green, but I also remember hacking past the plants to see what the old man in Sootopolis was hiding. Also, there are actually two more islands that are in game simply called 8 island and 9 island. You can't get to them through normal gameplay, but they have map data and seem to function properly enough to be somewhat explored, which suggests they were abandoned early on and potentially replaced with Birth Island and Navel Rock.
Overall the Sevii Islands feels like both an explanation of the events that led to things in G/S/C and HG/SS, and a bit of a teaser for the gen2 remakes that would come later. I mean it explains and sets up: 1. Where Lorelei got her Lapras ace and why she isn't in the Elite Four in the gen2 games and their remakes, after the events of the Sevii Islands arc she likely decided to stay there and protect them herself. 2. The Team Rocket plot in Joto and where they came from 3. Sets up Silver as being Giovani's son, something that would be outright confirmed in the Celebi event in HG/SS There are hardly any gen2 Pokemon obtainable there and no gen3 Pokemon (understandable), so it feels like a missed opportunity in some ways. Instead of the unused things in Altering Cave, they could have instead placed those Pokemon throughout the Sevii Islands. Plus the ONLY way to obtain either Ho-oh or Lugia without that event is through Collosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness, while Lugia isn't difficult to obtain as it's literally in the way, Ho-oh on the other hand...Good luck with that one.
this video is so catered to me by the algorithm as i have been obsessed w the weirdness of the Sevii islands since i was a kid. i played this game several times before realizing that islands 4-7 even existed … someone at school told me about them and i was like omg and played the game AGAIN to experience it, this was my first pokemon game so i had no familiarity with the johto pokemon, and i became obsessssssed with tyranitar. these islands are weird as fuck lmao i love them sm and this video makes me feel very nostalgic ❤
This is a great video!! Thank you so much. I’m exploring these islands for the first time as gen 3 was the gen I missed when I was a child. Thank you again.
Not a lot of opportunity in the criminal underworld for women in Kanto 😢. I'm glad it became more inclusive later on 🤞. Everyone should be allowed to steal Pokemon and brutalize young kids 🎉.
@@shytendeakatamanoir9740 I think you consume too much anti-woke content. I am happy with more female grunts in later games, but because they are either cute or hot, not because of rights lol
Osaka Phong And I think you consume too much "woke" content if you are rustled that much by the word "inclusive." They're making a joke, evidenced by the punchline in their last sentence.
This is an unreal RUclips recommendation. I’m playing leaf green for the first time since I was like 5, and yesterday I beat Blaine and was super confused when Bill showed up and took me away on a boat. I totally forgot these islands existed. Glad I can learn more about them before I continue
I learnt so many things from this video (even though I've been playing for over 22 years now). I don't believe you've mentioned any of the johto/hoenn starters (unless I've missed it) and the roaming beasts (you can get 1 of each depending on the starter that you've chosen). I love your videos, I always learn a lot about some hidden features.
My understanding is that with the starters, you can't get them in FRLG- the Hoenn starters of course are in RSE, and the John ones you get from Birch when you complete the Hoenn Pokédex in Emerald. And the beasts, yeah, it was really cool. Well, minus the Roar Glitch ;) Lol
You forgot to mention that after getting the ruby ans sapphire for Celio that one of the legendary beasts will start roaming in your game, whichever beast is strong against your starter
@@HetZieltje I mean, on one hand, sure to a certain extent, but on the other, he *is* speaking English and not French, to an English speaking audience, so... At least he put the word on screen.
I like how Lorelei has a tendency to annihilate Team Rocket. That was one of the things that surprised me about Let's Go Pikachu, because they added a scene just before Rock Tunnel where she cruises in on her Lapras and threatens to flash freeze them.
I had a blast when I first played on the Sevii Islands in Fire Red! Solving all of the puzzles and the storylines were all so fun and interesting. Not having easy access to the internet back then and me being a careless child losing all of the instruction books that the game came with, I had no idea what all the braille dots meant. I remember just playing around in the area around dotted hole and for one reason or another I decided to try and use all of the HM moves to open the door. To my surprise cut got it to open and I was super excited and satisfied with myself for solving it. Once inside, after reading the signs long enough, I realized they were spelling out directions. That's when I started to try and decipher all of the braille I came across to see if I could solve them lol. Honestly such a well made video that provided me with absolute nostalgia! Interestingly enough, I did not know that the berry spots and the items on treasure beach respawned. As a kid I found them and never tried going back to find more because I had no reason to think they respawned. Learned something new even after 20 years.
Dude I like to think there is a huge portion of people who played this game that never finished the sevii islands and never even knew more islands existed after island 3. Such a nice touch of the game. Wish pokemon did more of this. As well add difficulty level.
Some things to note (based on memory, might be incorrect): On One Island, there's a area just east of the island, where theres a one tile on the edge of the mini island only accessible via Surf. If you use the item finder while standing on it, you get the PP MAX. On 2 island, there's a hidden item behind the Starter Move Tutors House. On 3 island, The hiker who digs the tunnel in gives you a nugget when he's finished.
There are a lot of items and move tutors I did not mention to keep video well-paced. One I almost mentioned is the Body Slam move tutor on Four Island, replacing the TM on the S.S. Anne in Gen 1, which was probably because Body Slam is a stupidly good move to obtain this early in the game.
I always waited to do the sevii island side quests till after i beat the elite 4 so i never felt too jarred by the difference in pacing. The islands are some of favorite spots to shiny hunt, i just love the remixed music
The pattern Bush is designed to resemble the circuit board of the cartridge of the Gen 1 games which are famous for being buggy hence the bug Pokemon found there
When i was a kid, i had pokemon Leaf Green. I knew about Sevii islands, but only explored first 3 of em, since i didn't think about checking them out again after beating Elite 4. I've replayed this game many times, but i never found out that islands 4-7 were a thing. Probably because i never cared about filling up the pokedex that much as a kid... As i got older, i lost my Pokemon Leaf Green, but i DID find some random videos on youtube covering the rest of Sevii Islands, however... i didn't pay much attention to them, because i just assumed those were the same kind of videos as "mew under the truck" or "bill's garden" videos. All fake, with some playable ROMs as a "proof" they exist. I did eventually find out about rest of the Sevii Islands... when i was 18. I felt pretty nostalgic back then, so i found my old, beat up GBA, and got myself a used copy of Pokemon Leaf Green online. This time however i tried to do as much stuff as possible in game, including filling up pokedex. I visited Oak from time to time, so he could rate my Pokedex, so eventually i did get the 2nd sevii Islands quest. Only then, more than 10 years after first playing Kanto remakes, i found out that there was actually more content in the game itself. Imagine how it felt, finding that your childhood game has more to offer than you initially thought. I think i've never felt as much nostalgia as back then, when i explored the remaining 4 islands. Especially considering they were tied with Johto in many ways, where pokemon Silver was the first pokemon game i've ever played. When i first heard Lake of Rage remix, i actually teared up. It's one of my most fond memories in my life.
I was always _so_ curious what was behind those boxes in that home on Seven Island. Just to find out twenty years later it was a Japanese exclusive thing. XD Love these games!
@EmphasisOnJ haha nah fair I was low-key thinking of calling him out on that one but I saw your comment and was glad I'm not the only one who thought that was weird.
I ADORED these islands as a kid and would constantly visit them whenever the mood struck me. I would use Four Island's beach to hatch eggs (I loved that music the best), hunt for ages for each version of Unkown on Seven, and grind out the beach on One and forest on Three for the items. I even had my first and only white out with the Black Belt on Kindle Road right there on One Island. I was so pissed and taken aback, that I made it a personal mission to beat him back over and over until I reclaimed the money I lost to him. I think it was around $1000 or $10000, so that was A LOT of ass-kicking xD This vid brought back so many memories, so thank you!
I spent hundreds of hours on leaf green as a kid and yet never knew about the infinite spawn locations or that berries refreshed every 1500 steps wtf 😂
That Tectonix Memorial reminds me of my Cat who died 2 years ago. I also made a memorial of him in honor for our friendship. We've been together for 13 years 😢. I miss you Black.
This is genuinely my favorite area in the entire series. FRLG was my first Pokémon game ever, and after having played RSE, I was always extremely curious about the Johto region and its Pokémon. I only ever had a DS lite, so I couldn’t ever play the GSC games. I’d always go and relax in the Sevii Islands, wondering what the region was like. Years later, they released HGSS and I finally found out what Johto was like. Sevii is the reason Larvitar is my favorite Pokémon. It’s such a fantastic postgame area.
Wonderful, I've never gone past the first 3 Islands, feels really great to see what the rest looks like. Would love to see a video like this about the Pokéathlon, since I don't know what lies behind it as well but I'm guessing there's not all that much content.
I remember these islands fondly As a kid, especially going to the seventh island, really feels like you're at the remotest frontier; the edge of the world
The Semi Islands are some of my favorite post-game content in all of Pokemon games, together with Kanto from the Johto games. Something about exploring a whole new map after beating the first one is super appealing to me!
Controversial as it may be, I genuinely like the event only islands in gen 3. It's just so cool there's these areas (simple and straight forward as they are) that 99.99% of players have never seen in game, or at least on a cartridge through official means (the physical "access" required for these events is also super cool imo). Gen 3 was one of the last eras of videogames before the internet really became intertwined/inseparable from the medium (6th gen consoles), so the majority of us didn't even know these existed during its lifecycle which makes finding out about these years later all the more cool and mysterious (the themes of Southern/Faraway Island adds a lot to them as well). While I'm sure many players were bummed to be essentially locked out of many mythicals like Jirachi and Deoxys (the birds can be obtained with Colosseum/XD), it made their existence, well, actually mythical and mysterious which lead to some fun speculation of them at the time (such as the Mossdeep Space Center rumor). A lot of this is probably just my childhood attachment to the series (particularly gen 3) but regardless I still think the notion holds just as true today in the era where secrets in games are basically non existent due to data mining (often before titles even officially release) and gaming journalism trying to shove every detail of a new popular game down your throat for traffic.
I like how they put so much content in fire red/Leaf green then emerald afterwards. Its also interesting that gen 3 games can interact with each other just so you can complete its national dex. It is also exclusively one of the most tedious and expensive to complete.
man the nostalgia of my schooldays flooding back over me.. we had it so good, I remember having a (poorly written) journal with all secrets I encountered back then. I was obsessed with the games
I really like playing through this as a kid, but the final battle with team rocket is very easy and anticlimactic, especially since they are pretty much the last NPCs you will ever fight story-wise.
I've played these games dozens of times and had no idea about the infinite item spots in Kanto until just now. I also didn't know about the hidden leftovers underneath Snorlax until last year. What else have I been missing all this time?
One thing I realized watching this video is it’s kinda funny that Alola was the region for Gen 7 and we also had the Sevii Islands. There must be some connection…
Great video, I never knew that Nest and Net balls were recurring items. One thing you missed - In the Five Island Warehouse, if you return after completing the Sapphire quest, the scientist will mention Giovanni's child having red hair.

You might be surprised by my peculiar pronunciation of the word braille. Being French, I decided to go for a more French pronunciation, as this writing system was named after its creator, the French teacher Louis Braille. It may be incorrect, but it is on purpose... for once!
.
Pretty sure I already commented the same video to you before, but you can now "legitimately" trigger these events with the reverse-engineered mods that Goppier and his friend made.

24:54 Great content!!! Nice thx! But I still have to give a 7,8 out of 10, too much water. Kappa
No
I was very confused as to what you were talking about in regards to braille as I was only listening to the video, which considering that braille is generally for people that can't see video in the first place... maybe not the best word to choose a nonstandard pronunciation :P
Great vid nonetheless.
The spawn rates on those last Unown are so bad that I found a shiny Unown “A” before I finally got a “?” to appear. 😂 My experience at least haha.
My first shiny was Unown D iirc
Highly recommend Johnstone's video on catching every Unown in every game. One of the most goofy Pokemon videos out there
yes, it's a 1% spawn and the unowns can have better or worse odds of being shiny based on you secret ID
Since making the video, I have competed a Gen 3 Unown Dex. I understand this comment on a very deep level now D':
Suddenly I feel lucky but maybe I just don't remember how long I spent on it
18:57 if I remember correctly, the pattern is supposed to be a joke. It's the circuit board for the cartridge of Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. ....and it's full of bugs.
Everyone says that, but has anyone ever proved or at least checked it?
Ooh interesting take
I thought it was just a reference of the real life Nazca lines
it doesn't really look anything like the circuitboard
I thought it was supposed to look like missingno
I always liked the Sevii Islands. They kind of made me wonder if they were supposed to be like the games' attempt at making a version of the Orange Islands from the anime in game form.
I can totally see it! The Orange Islands story arc is one I remember fondly from the anime, and it feels like the core idea was the same here :')
Same! Especially influenced by orange islands being the only full season of the anime I have on dvd.
This is actually what I always believed too
Given that there are actual islands in the south of Japan who are still part of the nation but not the main group, I think both influenced Pokémon :)
Hmmmm
Forgot to mention the following:
- Sevii is based on the Izu Islands (as seen in the IRL Kanto map at the start of the video, directly south of Mt. Silver)
- During the second visit, the League can't be challenged as Lorelei is absent.
- After completing the second visit the League gets upgraded.
(Johto 'mons, Gen 2~3 Evolutions, Lv61+ 'mons for the E4 and Lv69+ for the Rival; with a Lv75 Starter, this puts them much closer to the Red Fight in Gens 2/4)

HGSS I understand at least why they didn’t include them, there’s tons of stuff in the game already - but let’s go needed something like the islands for sure

"This is one of those few moments I'm kinda glad I didn't have much internet access back then"
Boy do I feel this. When I stumbled across the rest of the Sevii islands after getting 60 mons, the sense of discovery and exploration was awesome. I've yet to feel that same feeling from another pokemon game, I find it way too easy to get annoyed with something to end up just looking it up
Glad to see I'm not the only one who rebattled those fighting trainers outside the hot spring
Really? I'll have to go see this for myself! 🤩

Thank you so much! As a child, I spent so much time to try to solve this... 20 years I had to wait for this reveal 😂
Thanks for commenting this. Op makes a video without researching things...

Underrated by who? Everyone liked and praised them...
@@giulioceresini1435 By me. I really hate sevii islands unironically.
The Sevii Islands are actually my favorite part of FRLG. Love how much you can explore there and all the little small side quests.

one of my favourite areas in game as a kid, the mystery behind them seemed so cool

15:25 A fantastic example of how difficult it is to bury an Onix.
*(SMALL SPOILERS DOWN BELOW)*
In Prism, the route to Mt. (which are my favorite legendaries in the series design-wise.)
Meanwhile, in Infinite Fusion, the ferry gets stolen by the Kanto Mafia, so what's the solution? YOU RACE YOUR WAY THROUGH THE CURRENTS TO CHASE AFTER THEM MF'S. And let's say things go down in Mt. Ember.
Play Pokemon Fools Gold. The Sevii Islands are a 3rd region added after Kanto.
Thanks for reminding me how awesome and mindblowing it felt exploring these islands as a kid!

something worth noting on the frlg altering cave: the encounter pool that was supposed to be there are all findable in emerald's safari zone extension, except smeargle. smeargle can be found in artisan cave on the battle frontier in emerald, at a 100% rate. artisan cave is found by activating a sudowoodo event with your wailmer pail. shuckle is found in the safari zone as a rock smash encounter, so yes you can get berry juice in gen 3, and all the others listed plus a few others are found in the grass or by surfing for the wooper/quagsire, or fishing for remoraid/octillery.
You had to cheat cuz the items needed to go to those places are event distribution only.
Overall the Sevii Islands feels like both an explanation of the events that led to things in G/S/C and HG/SS, and a bit of a teaser for the gen2 remakes that would come later.
I mean it explains and sets up:
1. Where Lorelei got her Lapras ace and why she isn't in the Elite Four in the gen2 games and their remakes, after the events of the Sevii Islands arc she likely decided to stay there and protect them herself.
2. The Team Rocket plot in Joto and where they came from
3. Sets up Silver as being Giovani's son, something that would be outright confirmed in the Celebi event in HG/SS
There are hardly any gen2 Pokemon obtainable there and no gen3 Pokemon (understandable), so it feels like a missed opportunity in some ways.

Ah yes, the elusive islands that I so desperately wanted to access past three.
Dude I like to think there is a huge portion of people who played this game that never finished the sevii islands and never even knew more islands existed after island 3. Such a nice touch of the game. Wish pokemon did more of this. As well add difficulty level.
Some things to note (based on memory, might be incorrect):
On One Island, there's a area just east of the island, where theres a one tile on the edge of the mini island only accessible via Surf.
It's the pond on island two that has the hidden pp max and the hidden item behind the house is a rare candy

That Tectonix Memorial reminds me of my Cat who died 2 years ago. I also made a memorial of him in honor for our friendship. We've been together for 13 years 😢. I miss you Black.
Loved the Sevii Islands as a kid and still do it's such a shame that they never returned.
I remember these islands fondly
As a kid, especially going to the seventh island, really feels like you're at the remotest frontier; the edge of the world
The Semi Islands are some of my favorite post-game content in all of Pokemon games, together with Kanto from the Johto games.
Wow so thanks to Selphy you can actually get more than 1 luxury ball per save file in a gen 3 game. That's actually really cool
i loved the islands when i played leafgreen as a kid
always thought they were full of mysteries and legendary pokemon
The boxes in that one house pissed me off so bad as a kid I could never figure out if they moved
I've played these games dozens of times and had no idea about the infinite item spots in Kanto until just now.
I also didn't know about the hidden leftovers underneath Snorlax until last year.
What else have I been missing all this time?
What about the hidden Macho Brace underneath Giovanni's spot on Viridian Gym?
or the soothe bell in the spot mr Fuji was at
@@boltskyline2957 Do you mean Mr Fuji ?
Those colors really don't work well together
One thing I realized watching this video is it’s kinda funny that Alola was the region for Gen 7 and we also had the Sevii Islands. There must be some connection…

Great video, I never knew that Nest and Net balls were recurring items. One thing you missed - In the Five Island Warehouse, if you return after completing the Sapphire quest, the scientist will mention Giovanni's child having red hair.
