Today's Tutorial Information:
▶ Technique: Dutch Pour
▶ Pouring Medium formula: My paints are mixed with just water! Yes that's right... only a paint and water mixture. It's a 1:1 ratio - and I can do that because I'm using good quality paints with a good binder.
▶ Color Palette:
Amsterdam - pyrrole red, vermillion, nickel titan yellow, permanent green deep, brilliant blue, ultramarine violet. titanium white, lamp black.
Daler Rowney: Indigo
▶ Hair dryer: When I use a hair dryer I use the Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting and the lowest blow speed.

I love the reverse pouring of the rainbow colors. Blew out beautifully. I just love the tiny colorful cells and the rainbow ring edges. What a vibrant creation Mark ❣️🌈

I was struggling to get to sleep last night, so decided to use the time to watch this fantastic creation grow into the phoenix.

Listening to your soothing & relaxing voice & watching the Phoenix grow relaxed me so much that I was asleep probably only 10-15 minutes after you had finished.

100% agreed. I couldn't have said it better. And well, seems I'm old enough to know what book you're talking about. In Germany it was very thick, filled with names and numbers and had a yellow cover saying "Telefonbuch" 😉
Took me two hours to watch this. Calm music and Mark's soothing voice and tranquil atmosphere kept putting me to sleep. But the rainbow outline all the way around that phoenix really frames it beautifully within the negative space.

Excellent! I'm guessing because you used the same brand, except the indigo, then you didn't get any cells. I REALLY LIKE that. This came out so very nice!
Yes! Thank you! Cells happen due to density of paint, so as all was same density there was no cellular reaction 👍🏻

I am very sad that the purple only showed a portion in the overall composition. Luv the black background! Interesting how it feels, to me, differently when paints are wet and glossy and matte once dries. I’ve seen one artist coat their’s and it really made their painting even bolder

gorgeous work, @MarkJRatcliffeArt ! for your paint colors list, what kind of paints are they? Fluid acrylic, heavy body, etc?
Thank you 🤩 They are literally standard acrylic paint out of a tube - so I then use the water to make them fluid.
Hi Mark. Another great video. When you refer to the mix as 1 part paint 1 part water. Is that by weight? For example 10g paint 10g water? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work

Hi Mark! How much does the room temperature affect the drying process? My room is slightly cool. Thanks!

Hi 👋 Cooler room temperature is better than really warm as the piece will take a little longer to dry. If it’s too warm then the paint can dry at different rates and that’s when you get cracking. Also make sure there isn’t air flow near the painting like an air con or fan as that also creates cracking too

Also, I am using American floetrol but am not seeing any cells. Is my paint too thick? I tried to make them all the same consistency.

@@MarkJRatcliffeArt I love all of your techniques. There's a lot that I try, you're such an inspiration!!! I do a monthly challenge where everyone gives me a base color, a dominant color, and a back to basics technique. Then I spin the wheel and who Evers colors are chosen gets to use my timeline to promote their business, and creativity for the whole month. This month a dirty cup was chosen with Paynes Grey as the base and silver for the dominant. I was hoping to follow your lead again 😂. If you do a dirty cup please let me know. Oh and you can always join in on the monthly challenges
