Normally VMware always has a upgrade "path" to follow. I would follow the path if this works. Definitely make a backup or image of the 5.0 boot device before anything. Make it a whole lot easier if it goes south. Also he is doing this on a VM, and not hardware. Different hardware can make a difference with incompatible hardware. One box I had to use a NIC to move forward as it wasn't VMware approved. After the install I was able to go back :) Dumb stuff like that we get to deal with. Hope it helps, and thanks for the video !
