2-3 handfuls greens (I like baby kale, spinach, and chard)
    1 large ripe banana

    Dahl Recipe:
    1 onion diced
    2 tomatoes chopped
    3 cloves of garlic minced
1 tsp grated ginger or ginger paste
    1 tsp curry powder
    1 tsp coriander powder
    1/4 tsp mango powder
1 1/2 tsp Rani Chana Masala
    1 cup split red lentils
    4 cups of water
    salt to taste
turn instant pot on to sauté and sauté the onions, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, and seasonings for a few minutes, adding a little water to avoid burning. Then add red lentils and sauté a few minutes then add the 4 cups water. Place the lid on the pot and press the bean/chili setting and cook for 10 minutes then let pressure release naturally, then its done!! serve over rice and garnish with cilantro and lime.
    Peach Walnut Salad Dressing:
    2 tbsp walnuts
    2 tsp dijon mustard
    1/4 cup peach vinegar
    1/4 cup soy milk
    blend until smooth
    Pot Pie:
    1 onion diced
    1 cup celery diced
    1 cup carrot diced

heat up a pot and water sauté the onion, celery, carrot, garlic, and mushrooms. Once cooked down add the peas and corn then add the vegetable broth. Add all the seasonings except soup base and pepper, leaving that until the end. In a separate pot boil potatoes until soft and then blend until smooth thick mashed potato consistency is achieved. Add potatoes to pot pie mix and stir. If it still needs to be thickens then add the cornstarch and water mixture and bring to a boil then turn off. Add soup base and pepper to taste. place in a baking dish and add biscuits on top and bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes or until biscuits are done
    * you can also top with mashed potatoes or cornbread

I love how openly you talk about your progress and changes. I also love Dr. McDougall and really trust in his program but I lost weight even though I still ate tofu, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, flaxseeds, some almond butter, coconut milk or even cashews and walnuts. I didn’t had a lot of fats everyday, but I still ate them and I lost the weight just fine. I think, especially us women can profit from some healthy plant fats for our hormonal health. Love your videos! 💕💪🏻

Exactly, that's why I also follow Dr. Fuhrman and Dr. Greger! High nutrient dense foods + healthy fat are SUPER important! Ultra Low Fat vegans risk dementia later in life according to several studies. Also, healthy fats improve the bioavailability of the amazing Phytonutrients/Antioxidants in the awesome plant based foods we eat, in addition to the phytonutrients in the nuts/seeds themselves. Example- The Lignans in Flaxseeds are highly anti cancer, especially against breast cancer! I appreciate McDougall's take, but a well balanced approach with "Nutritarian" in mind, is key!

Kiki, Please stop saying, your sexy off the shoulder tops are
Latina! It is Not!!! My mom & her sister's Never wore something
Like that & Sorry but had names to discribe
Those who did. It is Not considered modest dressing for a woman & most husbands would not
Approve! I know Alot of Latina woman & they feel the same.
I really like you Alot!!! And appreciate what you do to for all of us who look for a healthy
      Way to lose weight!
I am not good with words but I Really needed to set you straight about off the
Shoulder & low cut dresses is ok & part of
A Latina way of dressing, it is Not!!! And I am sorry you received that teaching
      Because at 77yrs old I
Have heard how men talk & look at women who do.
I hope this is informative & not speaking down to you.
You are Very sweet & kind & it hurts me to hear you talk about it being ok because of your heritage!!! Please!
      Forgive me if Anything
I said up set you. It was not my intention only to inform & correct your statement.

I had heart palpitations, went to my doctor she gave me a video on Forks over knives, watched it and it changed my life. My doctor said no more cooking with oils, eating avocados or eating nuts! Lost the weight and no more palpitations. Be careful on going back on nuts. I started to bring back nuts in because of reading Joel fuhrman book and the weight started to come back on, along with heart palpitations.

I think it’s funny when people point out things that don’t matter. You are absolutely beautiful and glowing and I love your sense of fashion. You’re very relaxed and down to earth. I also love how you are so organized with the way that you pack your food. I think I need to start getting more mason jars to pack things so that we can visibly see it in the refrigerator. I feel like things get lost in our refrigerator sometimes and then we forget about it and it goes bad. If it was in a jar it would probably be better. Thank you for always being real.

So keep trying and when it gets tough and you really want those cookies or chips ask yourself how am I going to feel after? I especially admire your candor in this video. I so appreciate it when someone learns more about health and the wfpb diet, and they are not afraid to make adjustments and see how your body reacts to it. Some people will ignore nutritional research, and in the long run that can lead to complications (like some vegans who refuse to take B-12). After all, weight loss/achieving your ideal healthy weight is an important part of health, but like Dr Fuhrman says, we should be eating for health and longevity, not just weight loss. I also am a nutritional research nerd (lol!) and LOVE all the plant based docs (Fuhrman, Barnard, Klaper, Greger, Esselstyn, McDougall, Ornish, Katz, and Campbell). FYI, I was listening to Dr Klaper speak and he said that if someone is struggling to lose weight, they can still eat an ounce of nuts/seeds a day, but try to have it with their salads (or in a nut-based dressing) and keep it 2-3 hours away from when they eat their whole starches/intact grains. He says this is because when we consume a starch and a fat together, the body will burn the starch for energy and store the fat, but if weight loss is not an issue, then he says it doesn't matter and you can eat them together. I also do GREAT with 1 oz of nuts & seeds/day, a TBSP of ground flax, and sometimes ¼ avocado. BTW, I love your off-the-shoulder tops or when you wear your sweaters off shoulder...everyone should show their personal style and have fun with it! YOU DO YOU, GIRL! You're beautiful! xo

You look absolutely gorgeous in your off the shoulder tops. Remain true to you ... Love your style. On a side note, Dr Fuhrman has saved many lives and is respected. He has supplements but you know from reading his book that he doesn't push them. There was one particular person on RUclips that has a great dislike for him and tried to CONTINUOUSLY drag his name through the mud. It was DISGRACEFUL. That is all I have to say on this. Yes, he does not promote starches like Dr MacDougall but take the best from all the plant based Dr's and go with what works best for you. Big hugs!

Anna N , I agree with you about Dr. Fuhrman. I have learned so much from reading his books and listening to him speak, both on tv and in person. I don’t feel like he pushes his supplements but instead, I feel like he sells certain ones because he knows that there are a lot of useless ones out there with synthetic ingredients that will do more harm than good. A great example of that would be folic acid which is the synthetic form. He has always recommended looking for supplements with folate instead. He is extremely knowledgeable about diet, nutrients etc and I always look to him and of course my other favorites, Dr. Esselstyn, Dr. Barnard, Dr. Greger and Dr. McDougall. There is so much to learn and I am so thankful for all of them.

Hi Kiki - when you mentioned farting after eating legumes; what I do to eliminate or maybe reduce the winds is add about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of "asafoetida" while cooking legumes. I also add to my beans, whether it be black, chickpeas or navy beans. Being an Indian decent my mom has always added that when we cook Dhal. You can purchase it at Amazon. I get mine from the local Indian store.

I have eaten beans all my life and was taught that soaking over night minimum 24 hrs removed the elements that cause digestive issues. I also use an instant pot but soaking makes a huge difference. It brings them close to sprouting without sprouting them. Plus pouring off the foam that is created from them soaking. Refreshing the water during the soaking and it will make a difference.
BTW there are many varieties of mangos. I like kidney mango they are huge two people can eat one and be full.

I feel the balance of what these Dr’s have to say collectively is very important for anyone who wants to live a long and healthy life. In my experience, I think if u are trying to lose weight that The Starch solution is the way to go, then once u are weight stable u should add back the nuts and seeds. And I totally agree with u that everyone will be different as far as how much they can add back before gaining weight. I also think if one notices weight creeping back up to back on strict Starch Solution again. Thanks for another wonderful and informative video and I love that u are spreading awareness on the importance of a WFPB vegan diet.
