With thanks to my friend 'The Touring' ( / thetouring , I drive both the 991.2 GT3 Touring and the new 992 GT3 back to back on the same road.
I have been obsessed with the 991.2 Touring ever since it came out and after driving it and filming it a few times, I thought it was the GT3 for me... until I experienced the 992 GT3 in Wales earlier this year. So now it's time to compare them and see which is better.

For me it's always going to be the 991.2 GT3 Touring if I'd ever get any 911. I just think it is distilled to perfection. Albeit the new one is probably objectively better. Two great cars, that's for sure!

I love the 992's, especially the Turbo. But the 991.2 GT3 Touring is the most beautiful 911 in existence.

991.2 touring for me. The 991.2 to me is just one of the best looking 911's ever. Bold statement, but i honestly think so. I'm looking to get a 991.2 touring myself within the next 4 years.

I have agree on that. While the 992 GT3 is a great car if you can find one, however the 991.2 GT3 looks way better and in the years to come it will prove to be more valuable than the 992. Mark my word.

Sam already knows he (weirdly) prefers the looks of the Touring over a regular GT3
And as the Touring drives identically to a regular GT3, all he needs to do is drive a pair of manual gt3 991.2 and 992
Plus it'd be much easier to setup as Tourings are a lot rarer and thus ore difficult to locate for a test

@@bentleygucci I disagree. At the moment it looks like that the 992.1 touring will be the last touring without a hybrid system. The 991.2T looks better, but the 992T is the ultimate driving Maschine. I think they both will be very expensive in the future.
And there will be less 992T than 991.2T, because Porsche can just sell them for 2 years because of the new EU regulations 2024
I have to say your videos are absolutely on point! By far my favourite RUclipsr and it just proves it’s not about having the newest and best cars out there! It’s all about commitment and how you connect with cars. I’ve been watching you since you had your TTS and I’ve taken so much from your journey. To the point now that I actually have an Audi TT 3.2 V6 MK2 plus me and a friend are travelling through Europe in June to finish our journey in Monaco!!! Keep doing what your doing STG because it’s incredible!!!!!

Great production Sam, for me it'll always be the 991.2 GT3. Nice to see you back on a road trip - really been missing them. Drive the World was excellent, it may have come to an end but my T-shirt is still going strong :)
Once again Sam, probably the best way to approach the comparison, I loved it and I am glad I have waited to have proper time to enjoy it !
Its the 991.2 touring for me all day long. Its the high water mark for a road 911 the 992 just over cooks the pudding. The looks alone are pure,balanced and elegant, I prefer the analogue rather than tesla dash as well. Simply the 997 4.0, 911R and the 991 touring are the ultimate road biased 911,s.
The way you incorporate these intro cinematics with this elevator-type music is beyond awesome in every single, I swear.
Another beautifully produced video. Excellent opening sequence and nice mix of shots throughout. As for the cars, what is immediately obvious is that your smiles are noticeably bigger in any Porsche than in the Jaguar and the biggest of all in the 991.2. But get a UK RHD version.

Great video, Sam! Loved the whole atmosphere and your positive energy. Knowing the roads around La Turbie/Monaco quite well myself and loving the 991.2 GT3 Touring I can imagine perfectly how much fun you must have had throughout the day!

Both beautiful. For me, I'd buy the 'older' one with the manual.
Manual, no wing, older style front and rear and the interior all appeal more to me. I also sense that while the new 911's just approach perfection, they get less interesting for anything other than track use.

As much as I appreciate the level of sophistication the 992 GT3 apparently has reached in terms of sheer tack performance, the 991.2 maybe the slower, yet more engaging desirable "connaisseur" car.
It's a little like pushing a vintage track tool car e.g. a 325i e30 around the Nürburgring.: utmost fun, still south of kamikaze lethal speed...
My pick? Definitely the 991.2 Touring, but please in that UNDERBERG GREEN. What a gorgeous colour! ❤

Amazing video Sam! For now I much prefer the 991.2 touring specially the @oakgreenmetallic's one. I have to admit that also the green touring posted by Andreas preuninger looks incredible, but I'd go for 991 touring for the roads and 992 gt3 for trackdays. Maybe when 992 touring will start delivering I'll change my mind but for now 991 wins🔥

for the road , I would pick the 991.2 manual (one of my dream cars ) all day long , because everyone keep saying that the new GT3 feels more like GT3RS . Therefore , the 991.2 would be more fun on the road .

The 991.2 Gt3 Touring is my absolute dream car, hope to one day own one. Alternative would be a Carrera T
I think i‘d love a 997 Turbo or 981 cayman gts for a lower Price
991.2 GT3 Touring. Without a doubt. Honestly, it's mainly cause of the styling of it (although I prefer the 992 interior since it's so early 911s style), but I'd still go for that one.
i have - and love !! - the 991.2 touring and i will probably keep it and not go for the 992 - love the analogue instruments and i like the back better…you said the steering seems lighter , that is something i definitely don’t like! i would get the pdk though with a new one even though the manual of the 991.2 is perfect 😁
Easier said than done but would be ideal to do more of an apples to apples comparison. Both Tourings, both manuals, both stock exhausts. The bespoke exhaust and manual trans on the 991.2 on those types of roads is a massive advantage in the fun category. Great video!
In the Uk if you alter the exhaust you will negate the official Porsche 3 year warranty!!

First off, YES keep silver wheels! I've been saying it since the late 90's, black wheels are for race cars that just dump brake dust and honestly the teams don't care for them as much as a road car. But my idea would be you need to find a 992 Touring with an exhaust. I think the 991.2 having an exhaust and manual changed your perception of the two. The 992 has a much improved front suspension geometry which will pay off in the long run and why they feel so much more positive when turning. I have to say though, both are specs that I would love love love to own!

Love both cars, but imho the 991.2, especially as touring, looks so much better! One of the most beautiful cars ever made.
That 991.2 GT3 is just the dream, that is my favourite Porsche, but the one with the rear wing. I don’t know why people are hyping a 911 GT3 that could fly under the radar and be mistaken for a Carrera S to the casual Porsche lover. Okay, it’s a bit more road-oriented and more comfy for everyday use, but that’s what the GTS is for. Have a fiddle with the exhaust on a GTS and it can sound as good as a GT3.
And loose the official Porsche 3 year warranty 🤯

Great video. I'm with you 991.2 is amazing. But you truly can't go wrong in either. I think clearly the manual is the way to go as resale value will hold
2:25 - Just look at that shape. Not that the 992 is not as pretty but the front bumper of the 991.2 is really very beautifully designed. I agree with many commentators here that it is the slightly better looking car.
8:45 - You're so right, silver wheels are the best looking and choice of all wheels because the contrast is amazing. You can see the beautiful design of those wheels. Black wheels do not do justice to those beautiful spokes but instead looked like two big black blobs most of the time. Just my humble opinion. ;-)
I've only driven a 991.1 GT3 for reference but for me the 992 is worse looking and possibly too stiff for the road/certainly long journeys. Having said that I totally understand that Porsche was between a rock and a hard place to improve on the old car while meeting new emissions regs etc. Maybe the 991.2 in either form is the sweet spot...

Sam I love the energy. Yes you need another Porsche in your life. I'm old, so manual just isn't for me anymore. PDK is where I'd go! But the Touring is the one for me. I'm not a big wing person. The old GT3 with the small wings, 4.0L engines....That's the one for me!
