If you just make 99 the top score than you can't give any rider a 99 score and in this case ayumu would've just gotten a 98. There has to be a cap somewhere.
The scores are arbitrary, especially on the final runs you MUST compare the individual runs especially for a Gold at x-games. Assigning it a score just allows it to be ranked but on big events they compare the 2nd place rider with the 1st place rider's run to see which is better. Its silly to analyze it by 1440 = 10/10, because if scotty did a 14, it may have looked a little more stylish. It was a "Perfect" run, hence it beat scotty's "perfect" run, but not a 100 run. If he was the last rider they would've given him a 100
Well this run is clearly better but Shaun's was an absolute screamer when it happened. Snowboarding has evolved and a 100 then would probably be low to mid 90's now.
His perfect score at x-games 2013 was deserved, but he recently made the exact same run (and not that clean) and got 100 again. I am speaking about the second one.
