  • Improve the ride quality and stance of your 2013-Present Ford Transit with the Van Compass Ford Transit Topo 2.0 front and rear Suspension Package. Developed specifically to work around the packaging and front CV shaft constraints presented with the 2020 AWD Transit platform, this kit is compatible with both RWD and AWD Transit models from 2013-present to deliver a true 2.0” of quality suspension lift. This kit fits single and dual rear wheel vans. **** PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT RECOMMEND BLISTEIN 2WD STRUTS ON THE AWD VAN ***
    The Topo 2.0 kit consists of two critical components to achieve a true 2.0” of front lift, improving ground clearance and maintaining factory alignment specifications. The first component is a carefully engineered 1” lift coil, of which we have two options; Blue Coil - Factory Spring Rate; Red Coil - HD Spring Rate. The blue coil retains the factory spring rate and returns the same plush ride as OEM while sitting 1” higher in the suspension travel for an increased 1” of compression travel. For heavily built out camper vans and T-350 models nearing GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating), we developed our HD Red Coil with a 10 % spring rate increase over stock to better handle the additional weight while still maintaining a true 1.0” of lift. Note, spring lift heights will vary due to weight but we typically see 1.25” of lift out of our Transit springs over the factory springs.
    The second critical component of the Topo 2.0 kit addresses one of the downsides to the Ford Transit platform which is the lack of any real camber or caster adjustment built into the front suspension design of the van. This comes into play when trying to lift the vehicle for more ground clearance and improved ride quality since nearly any amount of lift will put the vehicle out of alignment specs and increase tire wear. An additional hurdle presented with the AWD Transit platform is the extremely short passenger side CV shaft. This CV joint will go into a bind if it is over-extended by more than 1.0” of additional droop over stock. To remedy the alignment issues as well as not over-extend the passenger side CV shaft on AWD models, we developed a ¾” strut spacer with built in camber and caster correction for the 2.0” of total lift gained when installing the 1.0” lift coils and strut spacer to have a complete front end upgrade that won’t accelerate wear on other critical suspension and steering components such as control arm bushings, tie rod ends and front axle shafts on AWD models. Front sway bar link extensions are included to maintain proper sway bar position.
    For optimum ride quality improvement, pair the Topo 2.0 front kit with a Bilstein B6 strut for an additional ½” of lift and a great improvement in damping control. The Bilstein strut has the coil spring perch welded onto the strut body at a ½” higher height than the factory strut which preloads the coil spring an additional ½” for slightly more lift. The one disclaimer we must specify for AWD models is the Bilstein strut shaft is approximately 7/8" longer than the OEM strut which means at full droop the suspension is at a total of +1-5/8” of extended downward travel which does put the passenger side CV joint into a bind at droop. We cannot guarantee optimum CV life with this setup and do not recommend running Bilstein struts on AWD vans.
    We recommend running a maximum tire size of 265/75/16 with this suspension package. This tire size will require some trimming of the inner pinch seam, details of which are covered in the instructions for this kit. With a Bilstein strut, an astounding 12-3/4” of ground clearance is achieved under the center of the front suspension cross member with this tire size.
    For more detailed information on this suspension package, read through the detailed instructions below as well as our AWD development videos regarding the R&D process of this kit. Add a set of our custom tuned Fox rear shocks for a Ford Transit that is an absolute joy to drive in all road conditions.
    *NOTE* Tire sizes vary greatly between manufacturers. Trimming of the body will vary because of this and some contact with the suspension subframe is possible at full steering lock with 265/75/16 tires. Additionally, some 265/75/16 tires will require the use of a 3/16" thick wheel spacer to clear the strut body. If necessary, we offer an AWD specific spacer for this scenario, available for purchase at www.vancompass.com

    I went 265/70 r16 on the wheels and the shaft does bind already, I will need to lift the van again once the full conversion done but I hate the binding

    Is there any chance that these bilstein b6 fit under a “Ford transit custom” 2020?

    I have the Topo 2.0 Stage 4 installed on my AWD van. I'm very happy with the rear suspension but, not so much with the front. I'm running the blue springs with the OEM struts and I get the dreaded top out issue going down dirt roads with small pot holes. It's very loud and annoying. There are plenty of other people over on the Ford Transit USA forum also claiming to have the same issue. To be quite honest, I'm pretty disappointed that you guys aren't more honest and forthright about this being an issue with the kit.

      @@sandiegojody I ended up pulling my VC stuff off of the front and having the Q-Lift installed with the Bilsteins and leaving the VC Topo components in the rear. This includes the Falcon adjustable shocks, shock relocation brackets and mini spring packs, plus I added the yellow 2800lb Sumo springs. I think it's the best of both worlds.The VC rear stuff is really good but I think the Q-lift is just a better way to go up front. Plus with the Q-lift/Bilstein combo up front it's a little more lift than just the VC and it eliminates most of the rake and keeps the CV geometry closer to original. I may end up adding the VC lower control arms down the road.

    In another video you guys posted it shows that the front CV shafts bind beyond 3/4" of lift and that the diff cannot be dropped because of the short drive shaft. How is that addressed with this lift kit?

    • @VanCompass
      @VanCompass  3 года назад

      At full suspension droop plus 1 inch of additional droop the CV goes into a bind. We allow the suspension to droop to 3/4 inch more than factory with this lift to keep the strut out of a bind. This is now way to drop the front diff to improve CV angles.

    Question: The strut spacer adds 3/4". Assuming the Bilsteins are the same length as stock; is the remaining 1 1/4" lift due to higher spring preload and longer/stiffer springs; adding up travel but reducing down travel?

      First the Bilsteins were recommended and sold as an approved part of the AWD Topo 2.0 kit and now they’re not. I just had to have my passenger side front drive shaft replaced because boot failed and was stuck up in the mountains for 11 days while local Ford dealer repaired my 2020 AWD Transit. $1,500.00 in condo rental fees incurred and 8 days of lost work income. I am awaiting a response from Van Compass customer service.

    Agreed with a comment that was made down below.
    Love what you guys are doing and how in-depth you guys are going, but this video is alittle bit misleading as the Bilstein B6 is no longer valid to use for AWD 2020 Transits. One of your customers had major issues with it. Maybe a followup video would be appropriate?
    Would be really helpful if you guys could explain any possible work arounds.
    I read some individuals who suggested just having the Bilstein strut, no 3/4 inch spacer and having a stronger spring might be the most optimal solution. That way we get about 1 1/2" lift, a better performing strut, and avoid any binding by taking out the spacer.
    Would love to hear thoughts from you guys.

    • @VanCompass
      @VanCompass  2 года назад

      The B6 still works for the 2wd so we are leaving the video up for now. We have info about AWD figment on our website. We are working to create a no lift strut spacer that corrects camber so our 1” coil and B6 strut can be used on an AWD van. The CV will just reach the diff point with this setup. The B6 has 1” more droop travel than a factory AWD strut and the coil bucket is about 5/8” higher on the strut. The lift will be just shy of 2” up front with the no lift camber corrected strut spacer, lift spring and B6 strut.
