    During the Bangladesh war, Mujibur Rahman was in jail in then West Pakistan. After Pakistan’s humiliating defeat, when India captured about a million Pakistani POWs (a record number in the history of any war), Indira Gandhi (only Indian PM who can claim a war victory) negotiated to release Mujibur from the Jail and he was brought to Delhi directly from West Pakistan before going to Bangladesh on their Independence day. I was fortunate enough to see Mujibur live from a distance in Delhi on that rainy fogy day of March 1971 (I was IIT Delhi student).
    To further confirm some info you heard: All the army officers involved in the Mujibur murder were posted abroad in various Bangladeshi Embassies under diplomatic cover, and I know this first hand. During early 1980s, I was in Ottawa, Canada, where one of Bangladeshi Embassy employee (not a diplomat) was my neighbor and because I speak Bengali, he was friendly to me and told me at that time that all officers are high level diplomats in various Embassies and one of them was in Ottawa at that time.

      In 1948 Army was sent only after political decision and stoped midway creating ceasefire line now called LOC, in 1999 PM’s direction was not to cross LOC and army had to follow, all surgical strikes and Balakote strikes were not due to armed forces adventure but result of highest level direction and PM is the chair person , same happened in 1971 also , so readers can decide the power structure of democratic India and disciplined Army. Bangladesh was ruled for a long time by anti Indian group backed by India’s adversaries, so few disgruntled people of NE were exploited . Today there is no such support from across the border.

They said that before the war pakistan issued a fatwa saying all bengalis were disbelivers for fighting against pakistan a sultanate of god so it was ok to kill ANY BENGALI.

      @miu6530 4 года назад

      @V Garg the hindu population percentage wise even in india has declined if u look at the census statistics its because hindus have less kids than Muslims in general. The hindu population in Bangladesh has declined because many of them move to western countries or india since india welcome Hindus from other countries and they feel they can make more money in india than Bangladesh. The hindu population in Bangladesh was NEVER 32 percent i dont know where you're getting your facta bro. Highest percentage right after partition was 21 percent. Please dont make assumptions about Bangladesh without researching. The hindus and muslims live peacefully together here. Sure sometimes there is violence but that happens everywhere even in America.

    What Shekhar Gupta leaves out is the fact that Capt Abdul Majid was sheltered in Kolkata (Calcutta) for a shocking 22 ( twentytwo) years by the Jyoti Basu govt and then Mamata Banerji. He was provided with all documents of an Indian citizen i.e. passport, Aadhar card, Pan card, and all else. In other words he became an Indian citizen aided by India. So can we safely say that the Indian state was sheltering an Islamic jihadi which is comparable to Pakistan sheltering all the terrorists wanted by India for eg Hafiz Saeed, Dawood Ibrahim etc? So how are we different from Pakistan? Bangladesh is yet to or may not comment to keep relations with India on track.
    Now comes the best part. Capt Abdul Majid went back to Bangladesh because of the NPR/NRC to be implemented in India. So it amplifies the reasons why NPR/NRC has to be implemented in India to weed out these undesirable illegal immigrants who are being supported and nurtured as a vote bank. Today India has become an open sanctuary for all these undesirables who come here knowing that the Indian politicians will help them either on the basis of the Muslim Ummah or shelter them as a vote bank The number of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis is in millions and our politicians whether in West Bengal, Kerala, Delhi and elsewhere are helping them. Who will explain how about a lakh of Rohingya muslims have been settled in Jammu? To change the demographic pattern and thus the votes?
    Mr Shekhar Gupta please answer. Waiting for your reply.

    He is right Gen۔ Zia ur Rahman came after Mujeeb and Ershad later but Zia ur Rahman was the best leader because I know for a fact that Bangldesh progressed more during his rule۔
    This is from someone who has visited as a merchsnt Navy officer Bangldesh from 60s and could not believe the progress
    all the cities made in short period of Zia ur Rahman rule۔

    It's also amazing to see how successful Bangladesh has become under Sheikh Hasina. Now Bangladesh's GDP is growing at a very high pace, way higher than us India's. It is on its way to replicate the China model with becoming the manufacturing hub for textiles. And if projections were to be true, Bangladesh's GDP per capita will overtake India in 2 years. And as an icing to the cake, Bangladesh has also strictly cracked down on terorism

What he could do, when his boss the CNC Shafiullah was coward to face the criminals nor he was able to order Zia any thing? Zia was 2nd in command he could not by pass him for violating army code of conduct. Khaled Mosharof paid the price to make that an example who being lower in command and took action and got killed.

    Lots of Respect to you sir, But being a Bangladeshi I feel the discussion you made here about Ziaur Rahman is not actually 100%. Ziaur Rahman had nothing with the killing of Muzibur Rahman. his name has bought up only because to determine the political party he maid after that. He was one of the Army personals who didn't join politics just because of his wish but because of people's choice in bangladesh. You also named him as a trouble maker of India at that time which is also you are not making justice to your journalism. He was the one who reopens policies after Muzibur Rahman closed down by his emergency. Also, you didn't talk about one major breaching of trust and treaty between India and Bangladesh. This Major Majed was in India for a long time but the Indian government didn't say anything to the Bangladeshi government but according to the treaty between these two-country no one enemy cant stay. I am a big fan of your show hope you will make one episode of the current dictatorship regime.
