I’ve had an idea for YEARS of a world with lots that have shell buildings next to them and allow you to make terraces properly.
With Sims 2 and 3 apartments you could sort of do this and I miss it so much!
I used to work in a cat cafe that had an attached thrift store! All the proceeds from the store went towards running the cafe and supporting all the foster parents of the cats, and it had a lot of cat themed clothes and decor for sale! This build is super cute ❤

i know this is a minor detail, but it’s making me laugh thinking that employees would have to crawl through the kitty door to get into the kitty bathroom seeing as there is no door 😅

ThreadUp has tons of different things. I do agree that it's nice seeing a normal person buy things.. Too many "influencers" do videos like you said where they say they somehow got this like designer top for 80% off.. no you didn't. I've looked at ThreadUp and it's never like that. This stuff Kayla shows though you can find tons of and it's great.

I have been to a cat cafe and the cats do indeed roam free! They have these cat tree items all over the wall, so that the cats can hang out at the ceiling when they don't want to interact with you.
Me too! I’m in Chicago, and you can’t prepare food around cats, so you’d buy a $15 ticket to get in, you’d get a free bottled drink of your choice, and then hang out with free roaming cats for an hour. It was great. (The $15 helps take care of the animals while they look for homes.)
I’ve been to one as well. There was cat that kept on trying to steal people’s brownies. They don’t sell food anymore now just drinks. Lol
Aw I wish the one I've gone to let them roam free. The one by me is how she described it where there's a separate room for the cats and you go in there to interact with them.
The one I've been to isn't divided either! Well, there is that one space where the cats can go to eat, sleep etc when they are overwhelmed but otherwise they are where the customers are. The kitchen is completely closed off, everything has two doors so no cats can escape/go into the kitchen, but they are serving fresh made vegan food, cakes, and drinks. So you can eat lunch, brunch there or just eat some brownies and drink coffee or tea:)
And they are cooperating with the locals shelters to get the cats adopted 😊
The ones ive been to also had the cats roaming the dining room. The kitchen was ofc cat free, and one had a separate cat only space so they could go chill when they needed a break
In my local cat cafe the cats have a seperate room in the back with beds that they can access at any time if theyre not feeling social but can go everywhere in the cafe. Toys are scattered all over for the customers to play with the cats and I often see cats sniffing out meals. I even saw a cat take a french fry run off with it once 😅😅

yesss! when she reno’d that library the other day, all i could think was how much i would’ve loved a “Barnes and Noble with Starbucks” vibe, but Sims would have such a hard time using the coffee/food stuff on their own.

I've been in a cat cafe in Japan, and the cat's have their own private "chill out" room, but they are allowed in the cafe area freely and go where ever they feel like. I don't think you can adopt them? But also a lot of them don't warm up quickly to strangers, so you end up needing to be a regular customer to get some kitties to come over to you
In the US, the idea has been adopted by shelters, so all the ones I’ve visited in the US, the cats were for adoption. But I think in Japan, that’s not as common.
I was amazed how friendly the cats were too, but due to the season it was a lot of half grown kittens, and young cats tend to be more adventurous with strangers. It was pouring outside, so I had the whole place to myself, it was heaven.
I’m in the UK and went to a cat cafe here and I found the same thing! The cats were so cute but weren’t very friendly and didn’t really come over :’)

I've actually been to a cat cafe and the cats were just free roaming. Sat on the table with us, they just did whatever they wanted to. They also climbed into my daughter's stroller and ate my daughter's snacks. 😂 Honestly I didn't quite like it when I had to hold my plate to be able to eat my sandwich there because if I had it on the table they would immediately climb on it and try to eat it. It was funny but inconvenient.
I REALLY want more of these combination lot types. They make it possible to have two different useable shops on one lot plus maybe a few filler fake ones to give you a little strip of shops! The ability to combine our own lot types within reason would be amazing too
I would prefer DIY combos-- like book store (book retail is overall not great) and cafe. Or in Birmingham there's a cafe that also sells witchy stuff.
Amazing building, Kayla! Here in Madrid, Spain, there was kind of a cat caffee called La Gatoteca. You could buy some drinks they had and spend time with foster cats that you could adopt later. I think they closed some years ago, it was more like a place where you could meet the cats before adopting them rather than a caffee but it was a special place for sure!
There's a cat cafe maybe five minutes away from where I work. It's the only one I've been able to find that isn't literal hours away from where I stay. My boyfriend and I went once and it truly was like heaven. We got to stay for an hour or so and play with all the kitties. They had so many ranging from seniors to kittens. I wish i could've adopted one, they had the sweetest black cat ever. Highly recommend going if you get the opportunity to
this is my favorite lot you’ve done, it’s soooooo cute!! i went to a cat cafe called mactabby for a friend’s birthday, it was so fun!! they did what you were talking about, basically fostering strays for people to come see and adopt! all the cats were soooo cute, but they were sectioned off in a separate room & you had to pay for cat time, so worth it through
Are those the litter boxes that clean automatically?? Cause if not, that's going to get a little problematic in there if sims can't get in and clean the boxes! :D

i've been to a couple cate cafes! in the uk, i found that it's common for there to be a cover charge to enter, which i assume helps to pay for cat expenses. there's one in the birmingham train station that has cat shelves/paths on all the walls and a bunch of tree-ish platforms built into the place. SO cool! also they just let the cats wander as they please, and provided lil cages to put over your food and drinks to keep cats out of them!! i loved it so much T^T

There are a gew cat cafes near me and ive been to them! Like you said they have store front thats basically a regular coffee shop but has cat themed stuff, a lot of extra merch, and a huge window where you can watch thw cats. Then you go through a set of safety doors (two doors with just a few feet between them in case a cat tries to escape) and then you can go into the "cat lounge" which has a ton of seating for humans and beds, perches, and climbing places for the cats. The cats also have a room in the back for their litter boxes & where a cat can relax away from people. They also do weekly events with the cats- yoga, painting, etc. The best feeling ever was doing yoga and being in a lay down pose with a cat hanging out on top of me. 😂
There is a mix of "resident cats" that live there permanently & act like mentors to the other, adoptable, cats. The adoptable cats all come from the local shelter. I haven't been as much since I got my own cat, but it's really ideal if you can't have a cat but want one. ❤
in the only cat cafe i’ve ever been to, cats were absolutely in the cafe space and roaming on tables and i once watched as one guy devoured a whole slice of red velvet cake in a minute and a half, away from the table, because a cat was sitting right in front of him waiting for him to let his guard down to strike
I love your cat cafe!! It's perfect. When I lived in Seoul, S. Korea I think I was going to a different cat/dog cafe once a week, because I missed my pets so much. We recently got some locally, that we go to to support and enjoy. I don't have all the same packs yet, so your build was a happy for sure! Love the inspiration! ThX!
Been to several cat cafés and they always roam around free. They go up to your table, sleep on the chairs, or hang out on hamacs that are hanging just above your head. Normally they don't really get up on the tables or mess with your food, so it's overall a really cute experience.

I immediately found this build and placed it in my game. I loved every bit of this! Also about the cat cafe thing, where I live in Oklahoma there hasn’t ever been one but a couple months ago there was one that opened up and I REALLY want to go to one. The idea that you can go into one of the rooms and interact with the cats and possibly adopt them was so amazing to me. I’m a HUGE cat lover and own many cats myself so a cat cafe is a dream come true! Thanks for this wonderful build and I’ll definitely be using this in all of my saves!
I've been to a few cat cafes in Czechia and Finland, and you absolutely do get free roaming cats in there! I've learned quickly it's not a good idea to order coffee and cake at the same time, you might not be able to guard it all from the cats 😼One time we actually needed to take turns with my friend - one was eating her cake, and the other one was taking cats off the table and putting them on the floor, while another cat was jumping on the table already - funniest thing was that they actually didn't jump straight back, but created a queue and waited for their turn to jump back up 😹😹😹
The cats also have their own room where they can hide when they don't want to hang around people, only the cafe employees can get there but no customers. Also, there are different type of cat cafes - one is, like you said, where you can adopt the cats from, while in other cafes they have a group of cats staying there permanently (of course only cats who like lots attention from people are chosen for these cafes)
Cat cafes in the uk ARE mixed cafes with cats. Only the kitchen/food prep areas are cat free. Theres a second area for cats only where they are fed / have their litter boxes etc. But the cafe area is mixed usage for cats and humans, they normally have fabric cages to put over food like you can get for picnics.

The cat cafe where I live actually lets cats just roam around and sit on tables, but the cats usually just dont do that. There is many cat beds everywhere and also a closed off area where people cant go to give the cats some space. My favourite is the cat steps under the ceiling
Man I'm honestly SO HAPPY that the sims are going into more out of pocket, pastel, or alt styles as of late because it was SO DARN HARD to make kawaii/alt sims or builds for the longest time.
I went to a cat café in Paris where absolutely the cats were free range and on the tables!
I love this build and I REALLY love how small the lot is. I feel like Sims lots/builds are usually way too big and empty so having a small building that's completely filled out is so beautiful and satisfying lol.

also i’ve only been to one cat cafe and it definitely leaned more towards cat than cafe haha. they did have basic tea and coffee available but their main thing was allowing cat lovers and prospective adopters a space to enjoy time with the cats. it’s where i adopted my two kitties from ☺️
This was so cool as I actually own a Cat Cafe in Scarborough, England. It’s called Steampuss Cat Lounge if anyone wants to check it out 😺 (Although sadly due to the cost of living crisis, unless a miracle happens and we raise the funds, we are having to shut our doors at the end of August). 😿 I just thought I’d clarify that the cats are literally in the cafe part with you, so we don’t have separate rooms or anything (apart from the kitchen where we prepare food is separate). It can be chaotic but it’s the cutest chaos 😹 Great build Kayla ❤ xx
I would love to see how creative you could get with a completely or semi completely underground house! Maybe a small house above the ground and a mansion under it! Maybe with a glass pool as a window or something like this. Or maybe it's a community space like an underground restaurant. Would be amazing to see
In the UK we have cat cafes that let the cats wander around and stuff, you get to play with them sometimes too, it's cute they have like a massive jungle gym for the cats, and if they need to go and hide they can :)
I was at a cat cafe back in November, we actually adopted our newest addition from there and omg is he the sweetest thing ever. 10/10 recommend just going to play with cats, even if you’re not looking to adopt.
I work at a cat cafe and can confirm that the cats are required to be in a separate space from the cafe side, at least where I live, because of health code stuff. All the kitties are indeed adoptable! We have anywhere from 15-20 cats being fostered at a time by us.
I have been absolutely blessed to go to three different cat cafes. One in Germany and two in the US. In the US it is illegal to prepare food in the same building as live animals, so they have to either sell prepackaged food or encourage people to just bring food. A place in Santa Barbara had a deal with a Brazilian restaurant around the corner. They'd give you a little discount if you told them the cat cafe sent you. In Germany they have looser food safety laws and it was more like a restaurant where they would bring you a plate of fresh food they prepared on site (in fact, all their food was vegan!) and the cats were just everywhere.
I was at a cat cafe recently and yes, the bigger room was a regular cafe, and some little trinkets for sale, then there was an section with two rooms for the cats, filled with all sorts of wonderful cat things. There were french doors separating the cat section from the people only section.
I have been to a cat cafe only once and yes, the cats were walking on the whole room, sometimes even at the tables but they would never drink or eat your stuff. They just walked around. It was so cute, you could drink coffee and cuddle a cute little cat in the same time.
I have been going to a cat cafe near me for a while. The cats pretty much roam around the area and there are cat trees and play areas everywhere! It’s so calm and relaxing, apart from the occasional cat fight and hissing now and then. I definitely recommend going to a cat cafe if you can. It’s a place everyone should experience and enjoy.
About cat cafés, I've been to one a few times and it's actually just like in The Sims, the cats roam freely, they can sit on the chair next to you and even walk around the tables. One time, I was about to leave and after paying one cat jumped on the table next to me and then straight on my shoulder, that was funny. But I live in Czech Republic in central Europe, so maybe it varies from state to state. But overall I loved this video, I always enjoy your builds!♥
I've been to a cat cafe and there's something so soothing about them. Actaully, I was not a fan of cats but went to one (a cat cafe) for my friend's birthday and ended up loving playing with them.
The cat cafe near my uni (not America so regulations might be different) has the cats around the tables and stuff, with some cat trees/shelves/wall stuff/etc, but it's a pretty small space. The kitchenette area is closed off also, with glass panel type stuff, and the owner(s) are usually paying attention to make sure the cats don't eat anything they're not supposed to (and they also have a litter box only bathroom!)
I live in Poland and in my home town we have cat cafe's where cats are just wandering around and you can pet them if you want. They are 10+, so young kids aren't troubling the cats and I think it's amazing
I have been to a few cat cafés in Germany. Usually you can't adopt the cats there, but they can go anywhere and might potantially sit on your table while you eat. :D But usually they are in their favorite spot napping.
the cat cafe in our city doesnt have the cats closed off, the whole cafe is the cats place :D its actually not unsafe, youre only allowed to pick up the cats if theyre on your table when theres food / stuff on it, if theyre playing too rough or if theyre bithering you! the cafe has invested in really good ventilation, so even as someone who cant usually be in a room with cats for more than 30 minutes, ive been there for 2 hours without many allergy symptoms! no closed off room, just boundaries :)
in my town we have a lovely cat cafe where cats can roam freely in the cafe. sometimes they jump on the tables but we are advised to just lift them down from tables 🐈🐈⬛the cats have a lot of climbing space and toys and also of course treats served by customers 🐱

Cat cafes are really popular in Poland for some reason, i feel like every major city has one at least (my nearest city has three) and they're all with the cats just hanging around wherever they want, on the table, on your lap if you're lucky or far away from people. Usually they're pretty social tho, from all the different strangers they've met.

I’ve been to two cat cafes! One in Denver where I live and one in Japan and they were very different! The one here was like a cafe, where you payed for a drink and then could donate to the cats etc. Then you could go enjoy your drink in a cozy zone with cats! The one in Japan was very different, and was more focused on the cat than the cafe part! You’d pay for time in the cat room, and could get an icecream to enjoy if you wanted (it was summertime, maybe they’d have hot drinks in winter) but most of their money wasn’t from the sale of drinks, but from the cost of spending time with the cats! 😂
I am working in the cat cafe in Warsaw (Poland) and here the health department solved the problem of "cats walking on tables to eat" in such a way that we have rules on the door and self-service. Each customer entering a separate cat room brings food there at his own risk

Miss Kayla you HAVE to visit a cat cafe! We have one close by my home and it is an open cafe where kitties can walk around (and yes, climb on the tables) freely and it’s so nice and relaxing to just hang out with cats for a bit ☺️
Actually, where I live a cat cafe has free roaming cats, haven’t happened that a cat would jump on the table but you can go sit next to them because some of the places for them to climb were on top of seating places and it was very adorable. Of course you can’t leave the door open so I guess they are very clean and the door to ‘kitchen’ are open and the cats were looking inside and it was like they were searching for their barista mama :D

where I live the cats in cat cafés actually do walk around the place and jump on tables, that's the whole appeal. and that's in Germany where normally things are more regulated and rule heavy xD they're also not adoptable, they live there and typically are rescue cats
I’m in the UK and I’ve been to a few different cat cafes and they definitely didn’t have separate spaces, they were allowed to roam around wherever and sometimes you’d be trying to eat and drink with a cat on your lap or on the table 😂

ive been to a cat cafe once, and there were the cats running around freely. there was a cat area, but it wasnt closed off. I liked it there, it had nice and cozy vibes
I've been to a few cat cafes before. They mostly offer vegan food and give lots of chill vibes. The ones I've been to didn't offer adopting a cat but they had advertisements for kitties that look for a new home :)
i work at a cat cafe and our cats absolutely do roam free in the cafe! it's not unsafe as long as the cats are kept away from the food, and most of our customers are quite good at following the rules :)
Here in Finland we have cat cafe(s) where kitties can go everywhere! 😻 It was much fun trying to eat while kitties wanted to taste too 😂😻

The cat cafe that I've been to the cats did roam free! That one only had prepackaged snacks and like a kurig machine so I'm not sure if places with a fancier cafe set up would have a different vibe. LOVE this build! I'll definitely be placing it in my legacy save. I really need to remember the thrift stores. Such a good teen hangout spot (literally the whole point) but we didn't have any that weren't parks for so long I keep forgetting😅
all the cat cafes i've been to had cats just where you were sitting, they would jump on your table and try to steal your food it's amazing
The only cat cafe I've ever been to got shut down for health violations. Although it seemed completely clean! The cats had free roam but they wouldn't jump on any tables that were being used, the owner would wipe down the tables before you were seated. There were toy bins everywhere it was so cute. :(

In the real world, there are cat cafes where the cats roam free among the food! But areas with food safety laws that won't allow this have found workarounds, like keeping the cat room and the food room separate.
One I visited in Chicago didn't prepare food or drinks at all, and would give you a bottled beverage. It was still such a lovely time, I was there while it was pouring outside, so I had the place to myself. The cats were so sweet (and available for adoption!) and it had arcade games and an old claw game that the cats could explore inside. I was in heaven.
The cat cafe I went to in Hong Kong actually had free roaming cats. The cats generally dont mind you unless you have cat treats (which you buy from the cafe) lol. Some of their rules include not picking up the cats (only touch) and not feeding certain cats. The cups they give you are in takeaway plastic cups that are sealed and are generally safe when you drop it. I dont remember if they served food but they also had board games to play with friends as well. Some people also were working (as in had their work laptops etc) there.
We legit have a local shelter that runs a thrift store to support the animals. Love that you built that story in!
I used to go to a cat cafe in my town all the time!! There was a small space with a kitchen, clothing and some other items. Then behind that was the cafe part, where there where tables, couches and chairs. The cats where allowed to roam free there, to be on the table etc. You just werent allowed to give them any of your food and you were responsible for that! It was really nice and so cute, I loved it so much. (Sadly corona came and they had to close and never re-opened)
Oh and the cats were not up for adoption or anything. They had like 8 residents and they where all very friendly towards people and the other cats

Have been to a couple of cat cafes and the cats were just all over the place! One very nearly stole my cake… They had cat runs on the ceiling so they could be out of reach if they wanted, and a couple of back rooms they could retreat to where customers couldn’t go.
I went to a cat cafe in NYC once. It was nice and the pastries were really good. There was a mama cat there with her kittens and one particularly adventurous one decided to make me its bed. I felt horrible when I left 😅
We have a cat cafe in my town I visit and the cats can move freely through the whole space and it’s the best thing!! One of the cats love to finish people’s drinks, he did drink half of my mom’s latte 😅
Cat cafe's are sooo fun! At the one I went to you get a cookie and a choice between lemonade and coffee, and then you go upstairs and hang out with the cats. Highly reccomend😼

I’ve been to a cat café but in the Miami area I went to a thrift store that was attached to a cat refuge!! And they had a couple extra rooms that were exactly like the ones in cat cafes, and basically they did the thing u said, and the clothes they sell go to the kitty refuge and every cat there is up for adoption! It’s rly cute!
I've been to a cat café!! the cats *were* actually walking on tables. you could feed them with treats the staff gave to you, they jumped on chairs and windows... this was, however, in Europe, so the American experience might be different.
We had a couple of cat cafes in the town where I went to uni - one of them was my favorite study spot but not very effective one cause almost everytime I took my laptop out, the cats would walk over or better, fall asleep on the keyboard :D But it was a great place cause the cats had their hiding spot where customers could not go so when they were sick of ppl, they just ran there. And the staff were always making sure people were treating the cats nicely and that the cats were not making too much mess :)
And I really like the build also - gonna use it it my game as it gave mi inspiration for a few storylines already :)
I actually were in cat cafe where cats were allowed everywhere ok maybe not bathroom but they were even laying on the tables and kids were delighted seeing it ofc me as a cat lover as well hahah OMG and it was totally like u said about yours they were helping stray cats and clients could even adopt them!

I’ve been to a cat cafe once in London a few years ago (pre-Covid). The one I went to let the cats roam around all over the place. You weren’t allowed to wear shoes inside the cafe (there was a separate “cloakroom” area) but that was the only part separate from the cafe space. People might think that’s really unhygienic to let the cats roam around everywhere but
1. the cats are on rotation so they are not always having to socialise. & they’re free to do as they please
2. I didn’t see any cats go to the toilet so I’m certain they’re litter trained and had a separate area to go when they needed to
3. as a previous cat owner, I literally couldn’t care less if a cat sat on the table when I was eating
Omg...how fun would it be to do a petting zoo/thrift/boba shop?! Like, you could have cats, dogs, bunnies, foxes, and llamas in the back behind a thrifty boba shop....🤔😂

I live in Poland and we have cat cafe's where cats are able to run freely. When you go to that kind of place you just know that you gonna have a tail or a paw in your Frappuccino. Any everyone's fine with that ^^;
I love the table selling art! I was actually a featured artist at a local cat cafe last year, and they do that sort of thing all the time!
My husband's family horses were stolen. They lived on a farm all growing up, but when his dad passed in highschool no one really rode the horses anymore, they just took care of them. Then one day the horses were gone with trailer tracks leaving the property. Wild.
cat cafes are the best!! i went to one ans it’s the cutest thing they all come up to you for loves and they’ve got toys so you can play with them it’s so cute!!
