Tracy was always one of my favorites to watch when she was in the majors but she is also an incredibly good communicator, and teacher too. I know she has been commentating matches on the Tennis Channel until recently. Would love to meet her, you can feel the enthusiasm in her as she speaks about the game. It's incredible to see that even all these years later.
I'm a relatively new player whose been infected with tennis fever! In addition to playing often, I watch RUclips tennis videos to help me gain a better understanding of what I should be striving for on the courts. I've watched many volley videos and this one was simple, clear, and easy to understand. Thank you for your help and keep the videos coming!
Ms. Austin, I really njoy yr work as a commentator, ure equally adept working the men's and women's game. Very insightful. U hold yr own against the men.
Great video on the volley...thank you Tracy...really liked the tip about the high volley where you swing level as in a lower volley...I think most of us try to swing down on the high ones
Knowing the perfectionist that you are I bet you made 5he video in one take, Lol. Excellent technique. I’m glad you emphasized movement. That’s why you were so consistent- that’s where the others layers made unforced errors not getting into proper position8ng and finding this out too late and reaching or crowding the ball leading to errors. Excellent advice. You volleyed very well even at 14 in 77 , most baseliners like Chrissie took years to become efficient volleyers. Your overhead was always directed with great pace I wonder why that didn’t translate to your serve but perhaps that was due to being 14-16. Your serve had great placement and I don’t remember you ever hitting double faults. Your placement down the T especially in the ad court was a real weapon.
Thank you for this video!! I loved it when you said, "boom!" I just started playing this awesome game, thank you for aiding me in my quest for total court domination :) I am definitely subscribing to you channel!
Tracy is a very good communicator and was a great a great baseline singles player on the WPT Tour but I would say the Martina Navratilova is the best former champion to teach the volley. Martina was a true serve and volley player with numerous singles, doubles and mixed doubles tiles.
Excellent!
Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much for thorough explanation, especially on what not to do on the high volley.
Did you do that all in one take? Impressive!
No stutter, pause, rambling, you look like you've done this a million times.
good tips - very basic but very helpful for the players. Great job

A question: could you explain the backand volley too?
A huge from Barcelona.
Thks! I think my students will have even a better idea of what it looks n feels like! I always like a 2nd say so!

Good
Read the Vic Braden book Tennis for the future,,, The elbow out stops the racket lag and drag
should we use our shoulder in volley
This positioning of the racket in the ready position is vulnerable to a body shot.
What adjustment would you suggest?
Instead of wasting time saying what NOT to do, just keep it simple and focus on what one SHOULD do!
