Hi Genna! Loving this series :) Can you do a follow-up video about how you choose your box sizes (size of products, shipping label sizes), how you create branding for your products (thank you notes, stickers, how much should you be spending), and how you bookkeep? Thank you!! Can't wait to keep learning!!
Girl. The effort, success, and transparency is just *chef’s kiss* Love that all this is coming to someone so deserving! I have a feeling this is just the beginning!
I’ve been crocheting wearables since I was 10 years old and knitting on and off since my twenties. I’ve been wanting to start an Etsy shop some for time but too afraid to move forward. Doubts start to creep in. I love what I make but will strangers like them? I’m I too old for this? Can I keep up with all of social media and admin. Stuff like that. Since retiring my husband has been encouraging me to move in this direction since crocheting and knitting are my passion. He knows my fears and still believes in me. I’ve been looking for advice on how to proceed in opening an Etsy shop here on RUclips but hadn’t found anyone I made a connection with until finding you. Girl, your zealousness is contagious. I felt energized after watching just 2 of your videos. All my doubts fading away. I wish I could pick your brain. I have soooo many questions. I’d love to suggest you consider making two videos a month on everything Etsy-related on this channel, or perhaps even starting a new channel dedicated to starting a small business and everything that comes with it. Out of all the RUclipsrs I’ve watched on setting up an Etsy store, your videos stand out. You cover so much more, from upfront fees, presentation, listing, and shipping costs. But what truly impressed me was your genuine enthusiasm-not just for your business, product, and craft, but also for your passion for wanting everyone who watches your videos to succeed. I can see you someday doing a TED Talk, inspiring even more people with your insights and energy. Keep the fire burning-you’re making a real difference!
I am so afraid to start an etsy shop, but now that you explained how everything works, I feel a little more confident to try it myself. Than you so, so much! Now I just need a) some more crochet items and b) to draw my prints and stickers and manufacture them and I am ready to go. You took a lot of my fear away. Especially with the whole shipping cost tool that etsy has. That's my biggest fear, that i will underprice my shipings and I will end up broke xD Thank you Genna 🧡💜
Hi Genna! I’ve seen so many videos of yours and they have all been so useful to me! I love your videos so much! Like this of you love Genna’s videos!😊😊😊
Thanks for your videos! Not only you explain it with detail, but there is something about your voice and body language that makes it exciting, in fact, as i was watching this video, i took a notebook and started to plan my own, and find the yarn for each thing, taking it seriously but also not rushing it
Hi Genna! Thanks for your video! It was really useful to me. Unfortunately there isn’t much information about Etsy on RUclips. Do I need a computer to start an Etsy store? I couldn’t find that option -sell on my iPhone. It’s very sad if the app doesn’t work on phones for selling except buying. And one more question, can I easily change price on Etsy every time when I want it? Because I plan going to one expensive craft show and my prices have to match during participation
Thank you so much for that video. I’m starting to sell things on-line and it seems so intimidating at first, but when I see your video, it’s like I have that friendly voice next to me, saying, “You go girl”!
Your videos have helped me out so much. I recently set up my etsy shop and I got overwhelmed by all the information, but you explained it easily for me and I hope to get for physical items up posted in the next few days. Thank you!!
Thank you for this, Genna! It looks so simple, and I'm feeling very confident about starting a business now. The shipping part always scared me the most, but it looks like Etsy does all the hard work!
Thank you so much for this super detailed video. My dream is to have an Etsy store with things I have made with crochet. I feel like maybe I could do it and am so excited!
Hello Genna, thanks so much for the helpful information! I was wondering if you have a way to ensure the consistency of how much stuffing you use in your plushies? I've considered purchasing a food scale that way I can measure the amount of stuffing used per a specific type of plushie, say a bee uses 5oz of stuffing. I think this would also help with setting up pricing as well.
Oh Genna, I am so jealous! You make this look so easy. The one problem that I have and can't seem to get past is product photos. I just have an android phone, and I can't figure out how to take a decent photo with it. If I hold my product with one hand, I can't seem to get a good angle and still be able to push the button with my thumb to take the picture. In addition to that, I can't seem to capture the best view of the product. Would you be able to do a video just covering product photography?
Hi genna so sorry to bother you, you are such an inspiration! I was wondering, I recently made a eeyore character, the design took me over a month . I only used cartoon reference picture to make it. But I am scared to sell or even test the pattern because I don't know if someone else has made the same type of pattern because there are so many amazing designers out there. Do you have any tips on how you can be sure about your work being 100% authentic. Btw I can't wait to see your new massive plushy 😍😍
I also wanted to start a etsy shop.. but i think etsy is unavailable in our country sri lanka... and also we can't pay etsy with dollars.. bcz the dollar rate is SO HIGH in our country.. im so sad abt these... 😣 Btw, im so inspired by you genna, to make a youtube channel, and i love watching ur videos ! Thanks ! 😘
Hi I love your videos so much you are a true inspiration to me and I love your energy you are the reason I started my business. I have one question though what animal do you associate January with?
Does Etsy give you the shipping label to print out and put on the package? Thank you so much for all your information, it’s making me feel like it’s possible for me to open a shop ❤
I usually sell my plushies at school or at markets. I was really hesitant of setting up an Etsy shop but your videos motivated me to start and now I really want to. Are the shipping items you use in your amazon storefront? I don't know what to get to ship my items.
Hey Genna quick question: How many skeins of yarn do you need for a small child turtle? And what yarn do you use? I am planning on making one for a market and was wondering. Thanks so much!😍 Ps. Your videoes are the BEST!🤟💌
I wish my etsy would do the shipping cost calculatiom for me. My austrian version doesnt do that. So i have to research everything and compare the different companies😅
I sell my crochet items on vinted ( it's a european site i don't think it exists in the US) but i sell them quite cheap but People still ask if i can lower the price
omg the shipping calculator😍 I had no idea it was this simple in the us I wish we had that in Italy I have to calculate the prices myself for all my plushies so that's why I only ship to my country🥲
Awesome thank you very much Genna. I have made a shop name a few years ago on Etsy. I just haven't followed through with posting my work there. I like many don't know if I can deal with failure on such a platform for selling against so many. I feel I am more ready now than I have ever been. Thank you for all the hard work you do and being upfront and open with making these how to videos. 💜🧶

Thank you for this, Genna! It looks so simple, and I'm feeling very confident about starting a business now. The shipping part always scared me the most, but it looks like Etsy does all the hard work!
You're such an inspiration Genna! You've inspired me to start my own crochet RUclips channel. Thanks for everything you do ❤❤❤

I will definitely add this to my list! it definitely is hard to hold the plushie sometimes xD I totally agree!!
This is so helpful. Thanks for sharing. I feel now I can open an Etsy shop.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Etsy 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
hehe of course
Thank you so much for all this info from parts 1 and 2. But I do have a question, what do you use for shipping labels? Ie pirate shipping or USPS?
Hi genna so sorry to bother you, you are such an inspiration!

So helpful! I’ve been wanting to start my own shop and the one question I have is do you need to get a business license to sell online?
In most states you don't need a business license to sell! But definitely check your own states' laws
