This is by far the best "design a pattern" guide I have seen yet. Everyone else I've seen says, "Come up with an idea, sketch it out, crochet and revise..." etc. The fact that you walked us through an example was HUGE. I felt like I actually understood for the first time. Thank you! Loving your content.

This is a good tutorial if someone wants to design. I have several decades of crocheting behind me and I appreciate your language used in the pattern. It's written the same way as it always has. (Not everyone is doing this now) My only suggestions are R is for Row and Rnd is for round. I do wish as an influencer, you would have a disclaimer that if you are a beginner you should master the craft prior to writing/selling patterns or teaching. There has been an onslaught of "tutorials" (not on your channel) where stitches etc are being taught incorrectly. Well done on your part.

Genna, thank you so much for this! I watched a video yesterday, and she was talking about why she doesn't publish her patterns so she is exclusive with her creations. She also doesn't share prices, market breakdown results, etc. Just not her thing. I liked her, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE how you and a few others you have shouted out are so generous with sharing how to get started and what works for you all., and your tutorials are priceless.
I am 59, and new to amigarumi. I don't see markets in my future, but I love learning new crochet things. Keep up the great work! ❤

I was just watching your moving vlog while designing a pattern for a frog. 🐸 (Love watching you while working. Could watch your videos all day long.) Once the video ended, this video came on. I did watch it before, but of course, who would mind rewatching. Especially while designing along.
I am doing so many things the same way. 😂 I just grab a hook and start to crochet too. Well, and then I frog, crochet, frog, crochet, frog, scribble, and on and on it goes. 🤭 Sadly my costume maker brain wants to sew, sew, sew... 😩 Does anyone like to sew parts? I do... Somehow I feel like I might be alone in that. 😅
Can't wait to finish this design and eventually take the plunge to upload. Just came on to say that it's a lot of fun to design alongside. ❤ Get settled into your new house.

And what stitch patterns will make different shapes. So could you make a video teaching how to crochet basic shapes? I think that would be super helpful. ❤❤

Great ideas. My suggestion for body is do Dec to the 18sc, & do another row of 18sc. Then do the Dec to 12sc, & do a 2nd row of 12sc. That should give a better shape to the chest area of a bear.
As for the ears, sew around the 8sc or sc across to close then sew onto head in a curved shape? Which would look better? Thank you for you ideas. Love you😘💖btw, did you get moved to Fresno yet?

So I was wondering if there's a difference between starting an increasing row with a SC or starting with an INC. I have seen a couple patterns do the INC first, making me wonder if it makes a difference. It throws me off sometimes because most patterns seem to use SC lol. I hope that made sense 😅

How is it different between this 2
    A - 1st round magic ring(6) , 2nd round increase (12) , 3rd round sc, inc (18) .
    And
    B- 1st round magic ring (6) , 2nd round sc , inc (12) , 3rd round 2sc , inc(18)?
Like how does it make any difference to the shape or whatever im trying to make . Sorry im very beginner i dont get how things are different and how it works . I even crocheted both but yet i cant tell the difference!
