    Great info as always. Your videos are a real treat. More of these videos with the history of old cartridges would be awesome.

    Thank you so much for this video. At 45, I got into reloading about 5 years ago (at 40), and I’m still learning. I feel that you have inherit qualities and attributes that are endearing to guys my age because many of us grew up respecting and enjoying guys in the mold of Mr. Wizard (Don Herbert) and whatnot, and having someone knowledgeable as well as able to “present” in the way you do is refreshing. It’s the same recipe that makes Hickok45 popular as well. Many of us guys who enjoy guns did so with our dads, and like me, many of us don’t have them in our lives now. And little tips like the lanolin and Heet recipe, even though we could probably figure that out if we had just researched it out (and I didn’t, I’ll say it honestly, even though I have a bottle of Dillon’s case lube sitting here with the ingredients listed...), reminds me of the things my dad and grandfather would come up with to aid in getting something done. Anyway, wanted to take the time to let you know you are much appreciated, keep it coming, and let’s keep up the fight to make this country great like it should be....

      Wow, you’ve mentioned me and Mr. Wizard in the same response. I am truly flattered as he was a hero to me as well. This is encouragement indeed. Thanks so much.

    Good morning
    I was so happy you see you re-released this video, I remember when you first posted it, and then it went away, I was bummed. One of the first cartridges I first reloaded was the 32-20, as I purchased an very old Winchester 1892, manufactured in 1905, and the ammo was very expensive. .
    I have also been reloading 25-35 for my Winchester 1894 manufactured 1898, and 38-40 for my Winchester 1873, manufactured 1889, these calibers are also expensive, upwards of 60.00 for 50 rounds..
    Reloading has really been exciting and I owe a lot of my knowledge to you, the best shot and produced videos..
    I don't reload 9mm, as it's not even worth it, it's too cheap to buy, presently I reload, .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum , .45 GAP, .45 ACP, 10mm, .357 SIG, , .300 Blackout and 7.62x39
    There is one video, you made that I miss, it's the one where you melt lead and cast bullets in your garage, and there were a bunch of children playing outside, I believe you were casting maybe 45-70, I could be wrong about the caliber, I just remember it was large bore..
    Thanks Eric

      @RexRoach  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks, Eric. Yes, it is sad that RUclips removed my casting video without any warning saying it violated Community Guidelines.
      I agree 100% with you about the benefits of handloading old cartridges. They are either too expensive, hard to find, impossible to find, power mis-matched or all of the above. Handloading to the rescue.
      Interesting that you mention those great Winchester rifles and "two-number" cartridges of the 19th century. Yesterday I was looking at the latest up-coming auction from Rock Island Auctions and Jennifer asked me if I was shopping for a new gun. I told her, quite truthfully, "no" but failed to add, "I'm shopping for an old gun."

    • @totenkopfelite88
      @totenkopfelite88 5 лет назад

      @@RexRoach there's something about the old guns, they cost me a pretty penny, but well worth it, to think my 1873 has been around for 130 years AND still shoots like new is crazy. I shot it the other day, let's say I was the hit at the range, everybody wanted to see it.
      As far as RUclips, it's ok to show a child's progress as they become the opposite sex from which they were born, but how to do something constructive as reloading is, is not ok.
      I'm 57 years old and really miss the old days..the libs are an insane bunch of trash..

      Sick Boy you said it, sir. And good point. Rex seems to be a great personality as I will allude to more in a thread of my own today...and the reasons why I think he’s so endearing to those of my age. Why RUclips wouldn’t want more of his content can only be explained in terms of liberal agenda...

      Several years ago I bought a Winchester 1892 in 32-20, from that shop I went to another local shop to show it off, lo and behold they had a Colt PP in 32-20, so I had to buy that too. The Winchester was kinda pricy, the Colt not so much, even though it is in very nice condition, very good bore. There is an old blues song done by Robert Johnson, the 32-20 Blues, a woman shoots her cheating lover.

    Great timing, thank you very much. I have a similar old Colt in .32-20. I have a Cowboy (RCBS) die set and planned to use Unique powder as I have used for light.32 H&R Magnum and .32 Long loads fired in a Ruger single action, but I will add some Trail Boss to my testing.
    BTW, when Halloween comes around the stores typically sell inexpensive plastic candy bowls that are perfect for spray lubing cases. Even straight walled pistol case size easier with a small amount of lube, for those I just spray a couple times into the bowl, then throw in the cases and roll them around.

      Thanks, Martin. The key word in your comment is "time." A video like this one takes a lot of it, but I truly enjoy every minute. I actually shoot a lot of video that never sees the light of day because I find it ultimately too boring, rambling, disjointed, or whatever. Yes, believe it or not, I have many videos worse than those I post (you just thought it couldn't get any worse!).

      No. As a rule I never trim pistol brass.

    Rex, I can't seem to ID my Hollywood Press. It has the top turret, but mine is not flush with top, and the charge handle is located in the middle of the press as opposed to the offset like you have. Mine also has the large piston like yours, and the shell holder is located in the middle of the base. Not sure just exactly which model this one is. I can send a pic if needed. Thanks, Don

      I don't recognize that one, Don, but I am no expert, not even close. I would suggest you post a picture on the CASTBOOLITS forum. There are some real experts there who love to identify those old presses.

      Hallo Rex Roach
      Ich lebe in Deutschland.Ich habe jahrelang auf einer Einstationen Presse RCBS Rockshaker Patronen wiedergeladen.Ich bewundere deine Hollywood Sr Turret Wiederladepresse.Es spart sehr viel Zeit ,und die Munition wird immer gleich ,setztiefe,crimp,und pulvermenge.Bei einer RCBS Rockshaker muss man immer wieder schrauben , schrauben, schrauben alle 4 Stationen,was du mit einem Handgriff machst.Die Munition 32-20 WCF,44-40 WCF, 30-30 WCF,405 Browning, 50-110 WCF sind für mich die besten Caliber für eine Lever Action Gun, Henry, Marlin , Winchester, Browning und Petersoli

      Du läds sie mit Schwarzpulver?Das ist super,der Rückstoß der Waffe ist dann immer geradlinig,nicht so wie bei Nitropulver mit leichtem rechtsdreh Hochschlag. Deine Dillon 1050 ist auch eine schöne Maschine man kommt sich beim bedienen so vor wie in dem Charly Chaplin Film „Modern Times‘‘.Mensch oder Maschine.

Just as you said, like Charlie Chaplin in Modern Times. Still, I haven't been eaten by any of my machines...yet!
