Recently my junk of a Violin with opened al around, it has more than 25 years with me. So, I open it all, I took it all apart. Shaped the bass bar, it was ugly. I gave it a shape like Davide Sora does on his violins. Am sure you know who he is. Anyway, it sounds.. like you would say... better. Thanks to your videos I’m inspired. Gracias

Exactly what I need. Sadly I have already purchased a new bridge but will try this method cause im not sure how exactly am I supposed to carve a new bridge and have it sit perfectly on the body."maybe for your next video!" So much to learn..... keep posting!
Hi Edgar, very nice channel! Thank you for all the cheerfully provided information! When I saw you chewing the parchment, I remembered that leather is often tanned with chrome salts that are, in the proper pH range, carcinogenic. I don't know how your manufacturer treats the skin, but you should ask him and eventually prefer a water jar so soften it. Btw. I use relative strong hide glue to attach the parchment, so I get no visible residues on the bridge and it's easy to replace if it should be necessary.
By the way to save money you can also search a broken Drum skin in a general Music store and cut your parchments all by yourself. Just search the very thin ones. have fun all the best Thank you ER
I have to disagree about using super glue on parchment. I did on my bridge over eight years ago and it's still solid and no problems. You just have to know how much to use and prepare the surface of the bridge.

Quick question, could you please give a measurement of the thickness of the parchments you use for violin bridges on average? I have some skin around 0.07 mm thick, but I think they are too thin for this purpose and wouldn't protect the bridge enough.

Hi Fred! Fishglue is already much better than instant glue or how I call it in my videos Super Glue. Fishglue is actually very good. But in violinmaking I use fish glue but only a third part fish glue and the rest animal glue as Rabbit skin glue, since fish glue is very very strong but slightly too brittle. So I use it for its strength. all the best ER

Hello Edgar, I purchased them on eBay. Put this in the eBay search bar "4x Violin Viola Titanium Metal Bridge Clip E String Protector 0.025g" this should bring you the the product. As for the sound I cannot honestly say as I don't yet have the mature and expert ear to properly describe. I will say that the E string seems more alive at least to me. I hope this helps and I look forward to hearing your experience and thoughts on the titanium clip. Thank you, Joseph
When the parchment wears out because the string cut into it, what is the best way to remove it in order to replace it with a new one? Can you just pull it off? Thanks!
Hahaha, when primitive archery people fletch arrows we chew the strands of sinew to soften them and get them to stick to the arrow shafts. Chewing little pieces of vellum is basic stuff.

I actually found someone who did this for me in Korea for free. I had gone to him the time for a sound post placement. It completely collapsed.

Fishglue is already much better than instant glue or how I call it in my videos Super Glue.
Fishglue is actually very good. But in violinmaking I use fish glue but only a third part fish glue and the rest animal glue as Rabbit skin glue, since fish glue is very very strong but slightly too brittle. So I use it for its strength.

In case it is hard take a sharp kitchen knife.
But watch out not to cut yourself. Always cut away from your fingers!!!!!
