I assume so, you don’t want any Tom Dick and Andy to wander in and fiddle around with priceless manuscripts 😂😂😂 Unless you have written permission from the library or a university affiliated professor, I wouldn’t assume anyone would be allowed to handle their books.
@@henrylivingstone2971 I'm not even talking about special collections. The entire book collection, all those multiple floors of books, completely off limits.
Those libraries are exquisite and full with information. Those places are beautiful and filled with rich history. What happen to the library of Congress?
😂😂😂what does that even mean, it’s not like he himself established the library or that its zenith was under his tutelage, it just happens to be in a city that’s named after him. Also I’m pretty sure he’d be more pissed at its subsequent disuse and decline and eventual destruction due to neglect. Also Alexander famously didn’t care what happened to his empire after he died, he let his generals split his empire and he cared little for his legacy.
Well ill try an explane since it seems my small comment made such an impression on you. The library was supposed to be the greatest collection of written knowledge to ever exist at its time an first J Caesar burned it up a little but then the church with its all knowing logic burned it to the ground which im sure Alex would not have taken lightly. He had his " journeys" documented an collected knowledge from every where he went im sure that Library would have made him proud. So what i was getting at was that a grand collection of written word from all parts of the known world was destroyed an now looks like a giant man hole cover half open to the sewers.
4200time B One. Your comment didn’t make much of an impression aside from being grossly historically inaccurate. Two. Julius Caesar did not purposely burn down the library and its collection, it just happened to occur during his occupation of the city of Alexandria during his civil war. Three. By the time the church decided that the library should be destroyed, the library had by then had declined to such a point that, there was very little to its collections, and few scholars or philosophers if ever visited the once great library. Four. One extremely damning fact that you keep referencing is incorrect. Alexander himself did not establish the Great Library of Alexandria, it was the first ruler of Ptolemaic Egypt , Ptolemy Soter. And even more damning the library wasn’t actually constructed until the rule of a later Ptolemaic ruler Ptolemy viii. So Alexander wouldn’t have cared either way cuz the library and it’s collection didn’t even exist during his lifetime. Five. I’m sure that Alexander would be proud that at least something exists that emulated the once great library that stood on the current foundation. Though Alexander famously cared little for legacy and the fate of his empire following his death.
Well heres a case of someone seeing what he wants and not what was acutely written. Im well aware of who, how, an when . Never did i say Alexander built it nor that Caesar himself burned a portion of it . However your what...number 5 example ..So its ok for you to know what he would think or like or agree with but "I" cant have thoughts about what i might think he would like or not ? How dare i . thank you for having a vast knowledge of ancient greek history an being so much greater then mine i apologize for having an opinion. Try not to take things so literally . it was a jab at the dank ass library compared to the insanely beautiful ones in the video that proceeded it. Dam bro .

Amazing! 👏👏👏👏👏
If you're thinking about exploring the Peabody Library in Baltimore forget about it. They are VERY restrictive about who has access to the books.

What’s that
Don’t westernize the words. If your showing respect to the architecture show respect and pronounce the words properly.
