The true origin of "defenestration" is to throw someone from government out of window as showcase of political protests. It shouldn't be connected to the Jan Masaryk defenestration, which was pure assassination done by Soviet cleansing of opponents, which they do to this day.
The difference here is that "defenestration" is done by citizen who is oppressed by his government. Not a KGB agent who is on a mission to kill opponents of the regime.
