Thankyou Joanne I have just ordered my go foil machine but it’s hard to find videos that show how to use so this was very informative. Will keep watching your channel

Hi Lynne - I'm glad you've found this helpful. Do also check out my GoPress & Foil Beginners Guides playlist (more of my own videos). The videos on the playlist will save you a lot of frustration. ruclips.net/p/PLrkJkbwcGW1ZshNyK6pwg0oP9PfMw1gob

What a great video! The 2 metal shims is a brilliant "hack". Do you find you have to do extra warning time using the 2 metal shims?

I don't think using the 2nd metal shim changes the heating time. I usually heat cut/foil dies for at least a minute - but to be honest I prepare the next item while I'm waiting to I don't use precise timings.

Question that I cannot find anywhere else: with the upgrade kit, is it a replacement cover or is it used for something else? Also what is the thicker metal shim for? Thank you!

The "upgrade kit" does include a replacement cover. The thick metal plate is the Couture Creations Conversion Plate - it is designed go on the hot plate to both protect it and to provide the extra pressure needed when using foiling dies that cut and foil at the same time. Instead of using the thick convesion plate I have found I get better results by putting the cut/foil dies (with foil and card) between 2 thin metal shims, which also prevents the lid being scratched by the dies.

@@AnotherJoUK thank you for explaining that. I got it on sale but wasn’t sure how to use it. It doesn’t say replacement cover and there are only printed safety instructions, but nothing on HOW to use them. No videos either, I looked. So your info is extremely helpful. Thanks again and kindest regards!
