    The stock Z32 TT fuel pump is good up to 700hp, so it's not a pump issue. Unless you upgraded to 555cc or higher injectors you will max out the stock 370s around 400hp.

    10:10 Bosche 044 You're working with a close to 30-year-old pump. The factory one will make an easy 540 whp if it's brand new but the best way is using the factory pump as a lift pump to a surge tank and then a bosch 044 pressure pump. You don't "need" a surge tank in a road car but for the small amount of time and money it takes to fit it's well worth it.

    Hi, Can we get an update? I imagine he has since had time to look into the problem and back to the dyno? The OEM 300zx TT pump is said to flow around 380lph so if it was working properly it should have been more than up to the task. Was is a faulty pump, Voltage draw or the fact that base pressure was set too high? None of the above?

    Thanks for the heads up about the fuel pump/regulator. I've heard the same thing about stock fuel pumps able to support huge HP numbers, but it looks like maybe that is outdated information (maybe it was true years ago when these cars were younger?) or it's just an exaggeration. Great video!!!

    • @39PSIOnTheDaily
      @39PSIOnTheDaily 2 года назад +1

      It’s not outdated. There’s a “cheat code”, so to speak, in regards to the fuel pressure sending unit within the pump, where you can put a bolt into a flange or something and hold a spring in place within the pump to withstand up to 750WHP. I can’t recall the specifics in detail, but I know that Supra guys were doing this with Z32 TT pumps quite often back in the day.

    I wonder if A Taurus SHO (Yamaha 3.0, 1st and 2nd gen) intake would fit on that? Never really looked at a 300ZX intake manifold before. It wouldn't do any good for a turbo/twin turbo setup, only NA. Maybe a custom lower intake manifold adapter. Short and long runner intake to keep the air velocity up at low and high RPMs. It'd be a trip to see under the hood of a Nissan.

    I bet you at some point the fuel pump failed and was replaced with a na one (as long as the car runs stock boost, you would never notice) it's a cost efficient way to get it back on the road. Na fuel pumps max out around that power range. I'm running 500+ on a stock twin turbo fuel pump without issue. Just a wild guess

      The previous dyno sheet of this car on stock turbos said 360hp. I told Seb it was complete bs. He didn't believe me then but after driving the car with 380hp he can't even put his foot down. He believes me now. A lot of shops over calibrate their dynos to give optimistic numbers and make people happy. This dyno I believe is very real. Gives dissapointing low numbers but very good laptimes

    • @adamrichardson2227
      @adamrichardson2227 3 года назад

      @@xfmotorsports Interesting, that the guy that ran the dyno in Washington State "Drift Office" told me the same thing about his. Either way, running out of fuel isn't usually something that is common at this power level unless there is an issue with the pump. I know that the TT pump has a 2 speed pump controller compared to the NA. I am not sure what the ECU is doing, as it is standalone, but could that be related?

    • @adamrichardson2227
      @adamrichardson2227 3 года назад

      Also, a curiosity of mine, since this is using a MAP setup I assume, is there a reason that the 90 degree bend before the single intake is necessary? That is a known restriction and solutions that use a dual MAF and a translator (Selin) are often used when on the stock ECU. With MAP, I was wondering what would happen if that Y piece under the nose cover was replaced with two air filters on the turbo inlets, eliminating that restriction. Note: Visible as the green filter at 3:15
      Another thing too, those foam filters are mostly NOT recommended because they get old, stop working and break down, letting chunks of old crusty foam into the intake. I had an old TT I was working on that had that same filter media and it let sand into the intake...Needless to say the engine ended up being toast.

    Just don't go above 500 crankHP. I did some research on that motor and if I remember correctly the block like to split apart at 500 HP. That's why there weren't too many high horse power 300zx's out there. Even built the motor would not stand more than 500hp. I wanted a good Nissan motor for an early project car and could get one of these motors really cheap. But then found out that they were fragile, so I passed on that motor.

    Channel wise, I believe he is going the wrong way with the content. The videos over the last year have been quite bland documentation of working on regular cars, or doing way too technical and detailed, boring things on a few, somewhat interesting cars. It's hard to explain really, but considering the limelight he had with his homebuilt racecar series, he hasn't really recaptured that sort of attention again. He kinda let the E55 ASL project fizzle out without ever really finishing it and that was a letdown. There are thousand other channels that do headbolt replacements or fix random cars. There WAS only one channel that documented creating a detailed and engineered HOMEBUILT RACECAR. That was his ticket to youtube success. Considering his latest "F1" build, I hope he has realised that aswell. I wish him nothing but good fortune, but am just kinda disappointed in the direction the channel has gone.
