    Interesting and informational video. I probably won't be around to see this 5D implementation, but it does sound fascinating how fast technology is moving. Try the psvr2 and with driving wheels and haptic vest that’s compatible, even head haptics on most games also has eye tracking that works well in some game so you can control thing in the vr world. This headset is amazing. Quest is pushing the vr space without a doubt and only going to get better with implementation of ai being added into the headset in my opinion. being 58 I have seen all of the things and played even the first pong game, now I want more than ever to step into the oasis for real. Thank you for taking your time makine this video, it has given me the confidence that I could get my dream before I lose my marbles. What they can do to boost it to more people is starting off with allowing Vr to be available for majority of racing games. I use VR for Assetto Corsa and it's honestly a dynamic overhaul for me because i just can't play the game without it. It's a huge mandatory as it's the best way to experience speed. Imagine this for forza, Need for Speed, any other racing games that aren't currently VR.

    Im loving the new VR era. But for now it really only is immersive for flight or racing sims as they provide great feedback through the controls (wheels, joysticks etc.) and motion rigs which are still expensive unfortunately. But in 10 years I hope it becomes easy entry level gear and we have some other forms of haptic feedback to take it a step further for other games especially MMO’s and FPS

    Great Vid, Thank you.
    VR development definitely has not been linear. In a lot of ways it has moved backwards since 2020. in 2017 PCVR games like Lone echo were so immersive and real feeling, but the price to get PCVR then was too much for the average gamer.
    Meta bought Oculus and wanted to bring VR to the masses bringing out standalone Quest headsets. Yes it brought VR to the masses but nothing like the level of HL Alyx or lone echo. Although Quest tech is impressive, it is limited to a mobile chip set, cartoon like graphics and limited immersion. The meta verse, meta Horizons is like a cartoon world full of Wii sports characters and nothing that could be compared to the Oasis really. VR chat is closer especially with PCVR.
    The problem with VR is there is not a big enough market for software developers to make fully immersive games and experiences, they simply cant sell enough to get back development costs. The market in PCVR was small due to price, much larger in Quest but less capable. PSVR2 showed promise to be sitting in the middle of these 2 platforms, but didn't take off as well as hoped and was hounded by negative press. Although I think it could have been a great way to get PCVR like quality to the masses with over 60 million PS5's sold.
    In 2017 I got my 1st VR headset, a rift and lone echo. The future looked amazing. It was so impressive and I could only imagine how much better and real VR would get 7 years from then. Well it didn't it moved backwards or at least took a side step, so its hard to see where it will go from here, especially with Meta holding so much control of the VR market.

    • @imValerium
      @imValerium  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you brother 🙏🏽 You raise some great points. Advancement in VR definitely isn’t linear as you said. We will have many years where seemingly no progress is being made. I believe these are generally the years of realignment, where companies are trying to figure out what technologies to focus on. We’ve seen VR headsets remain mostly the same for decades, with slight improvements in things like visual fidelity, motion tracking, etc.
      I’m hopeful that the VR market will continue gaining popularity in the coming years as these technologies improve.
      Having these technologies become more accessible for the average consumer will incentivise more people to try VR, which as a result will increase the funding that can go towards improving the tech even further, creating a snowball effect. It’ll be exciting to see what direction everything goes in.
      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, I enjoy hearing what every has to say :)

    The ideal of a neural chip to experience the next level of gaming sounds really cool. But there's no chance I'm handing control of my brain over to any corporation. The only way for me is if, down the road, we are able to manufacture and develop our own personal chip using AI.. and even then, I'm skeptical. Non-invasive would be ideal.

      Dude to be fair that’s actually a nice take! I could see that being a thing - especially with how AI is excelling at essentially streamlining processes. It’s opening up the ability for even people with no knowledge in certain tasks to do things like making fairly basic games by just describing it to an AI. There are so many possibilities, it would definitely make sense if it’ll someday be able to do that too.

    hi

  • @fenfire3824
    @fenfire3824 5 месяцев назад

    You are doing the same totally wrong assumptions most of the VR people do. You are not thinking about the current tech enough, you are overstepping things.
    It will take decades until we are able to use neuro chips for gaming, if we even will ever experience it ourselves.
    What really needs to improve is much smarter gaming controler solutions. And because the standards of current vr is very basic, you cannot even "just" buy custom controllers like you can now with gamepads. And this took even tens of years. For a very long time you were able to use xbox controller on a pc in a meaningfull way. All other gamepads were not working well, because of driver issues. You even now need controller remappers like rewasd for a lot of gamepads.
    So on the one hand it is important to have standartization. But on the other hand, it will restrict creative solutions.
    And that is, what we need right now. It is impossible to play most of the games you know with hand gestures. Even if you would not have a controller at all, this might make your games even unplayable.
    Because a Game is a Game and not real life. You can do lots of things in a Game, you will never be able to do in real life. So you need to control all these abilities.
    And I am 100% certain, this will take AGES until it becomes better.
    E.G: Right now all controllers share a typical xbox button layout. The trigger of your controllers and the buttons, it it is the same layout as a regular gamepad.
    You have a trigger and a bumper on each side, the 4 buttons you normally have on the right side a split on both sides. You have an analog stick on each side.
    This already doesnt work in most games very well. In so many games you need all buttons on the right side, because with the left thumb you are moving the analog stick.
    You cannot press buttons and move the stick at the same time. This is one of the reasons, why the curront layout is really bad.
    But that nobody changes it proves to me, that the developers of these devices are absolutely clueless and no gamers.
    We again have a situation, where hardware for games is made by people who dont play games. It is a huge problem.
    And it wont stop there. It will take so long, that you first have to optimize VR Gaming to a point where all the games you normaly play on a pc can be played very well on a vr.
    This must be the first goal of all.
    And it requires better controllers first. It doesnt matter if you can smell or taste or whatever, if you cannot actually play the gameplay very well, because the controls suck.
    There is another example.
    Most of the fantasy swords games can actually NOT be played that geat. And the reason is also simple. You cannot align your both hands that well, when you swing around a two handed sword e.G.
    What would be needed is a modular system which allows to create any kind of device in your game by splitting every single part of a controller into its own module.
    This way, you can create layouts and devices to your own liking. Also you may want to have multiple controllers equipped at once.
    Lets say you have a controller which is actually only a small stick, like a handle for a lightsaber or a one handed meele weapon.
    And maybe in addition a more gun like controller, you can just put in your holster. The possibility to just equip a specific weapon by just grabing different controllers would already help.
    Than these controllers should at least all have 4 buttons on the right side.
    Lets say you want to equip different controllers on each side, you may want to do it. Also for most shooters you already want a gunstock.
    These are just some very few very simple examples. But you cannot just use hand gestures on everything, because you need buttons. Also you need a way to move easily.
    And you need to understand, that MOST people just want to play in sitting mode. That is what the people want, it doesnt matter how realistic it is.
    I think it is waaaaaaaaay to early to do assumptions on what and when to play and do what. It takes another 10 years minimum for VR to become something everyone gets used to.

      I disagree with you about current controllers being a bottle neck to better game interactions.
      Their fine as they are. The only thing I would add is self tracking as the default for all controllers going forward and AA batteries staying the standard.
      Screw waiting around for built in battery recharging. That is definitely a step backwards for the Quest Pro & PSVR2.

    • @fenfire3824
      @fenfire3824 5 месяцев назад

      @@sonicsnake44 How can you say they are fine, if you dont know what else could be better? e.G.
      Would you think it is better or worse, if you would have a trigger for each finger? or maybe just one additional? What is the best? I agree, that you have to figure it out of course. I am glad, that th controllers use batteries, because if they would not, you need to buy a new one if the internal battery gets broken. I dont care which batteries are the standard, I dont care at all because for me it is important that the gameplay and the handling is perfect.
      Build in Batteries suck. It is really not that difficult to buy rechargable battries and charge them separatelly.
      It is the same with mobile phones. I have to throw away my phone, because the internal battery is broken and cannot be changed. It is stupid.
      And why should I not have more buttons on my controller? If you do it the right way with a good design, they wouldnt even distrub you. You have more options without any downsides. Why wouldnt you want beneficial features with no negative compromises?
      Why should someone refuse to improve something? Makes no sense at all.
