I never knew they had to be heated. I looooove tanzanites in their purple blue color, but wow the unheated one almost looked like an Alexandrite with it's multi colors. Just really beautiful. I would love to have one like that unheated.
Watching the transformation from the rough, peachy brown tanzanite crystal to its final product of two brilliant violet blue faceted stones was awe inspiring!
Watching the process of tanzanite faceting was so fascinating! 🤩It's amazing how a rough stone can be transformed into such a stunning, sparkling gem. Thank you for sharing this behind-the-scenes look at gem cutting! 👍
The reason the heated color was so amazing to everyone was that there really wasn’t a colored stone in that range (deep periwinkle or whatever you want to call it) before tanzanite hit the market. Tanzanite cornered the market for that color and everyone went wild- it was super fun, I remember the year it hit.
STUNNING! I loved the Tanzanite before the heating. You are truly blessed with a talent... to take a stone and turn it into a breathtaking gemstone. My birthstone is diamond, but I have always preferred color gems. If I lived in your state I would visit your store monthly to hopefully buy and most of all to see all the beauty you bring to the world. I know I can visit the site, but actually seeing the gemstones in real life is a real pleasure for me.
Steve, I just want to let you know as a beginner faceter how much I appreciate how open you are and willing to share your knowledge. Maybe I'll meet you in Arizona one day.
Sapphire and more than half of all gems are heated to alter color. Many sapphires are grey cloudy unsalable pebbles that once heated turn clear and blue. These are known in Sri Lanka as geuda. The brown unheated tanzanite is attractive but that market is not there for $4000 brown zoisite.
Where to get some tanzanite rough mr?please help me,,i love tanzanite but in my country too much replica or dyed gemstones so a think you can help me to get tanzante,,but i have not a lot money for buy too much,,can you help me?
Although you won't get a natural Tanzanite the colour of the treated ones. The natural stones are of very different colours. Personally, I love the beauty of the natural stones & can't understand why they are, for the majority, treated. When you see the natural stones with the spectacular colours they can show I find it hard to believe that others don't see this beauty too. If you look up the website for tanzanitejewelrydesigns.com under loose stones you'll see a stunning natural, a purple emerald cut natural & even a brilliant yellow natural. Why these are viewed as more undesirable is beyond me.
@@Hstat910 Yes, it is rare but still quite available for now. There are numerous other gems that also are only scorced from one mine or small area. There are plenty of gems that will cost much more than diamonds and by a considerable amount too, except for the fancy coloured in certain cases. This is why I tend to veer towards coloured gems as you know that you'll be wearing something different to everyone else. A majority of the public still are unaware of Tanzanite or are shocked to learn that Amethysts come in other colours than just purple. I do advise though that if you are building up a collection of gems either to wear or collect loose stones to buy only what appeals to you as there is no point investing so much in a rare stone that you don't really like. Unless you have plenty of cash to work with, I suggest sticking to the gems that really appeal to you. I haven't found my money tree yet but have managed to build up quite a collection and still going but only by paying off pieces over time and never use a credit card. I already have my Tanzanites which I purchased about three years ago in a suite of earrings, pendant and ring although the colour of mine are of the lighter violet/blue which I personally prefer to the quite dark ones. I do hope to one day purchase a natural stone made by Mother Nature and unadulterated by human hands in regards to colour. Good luck if you decide to collect, you'll be surprised at just how many different gems are available and the massive variety of colours.
WOW! Thats one of the coolest things ive ever seen. Now I understand why diamonds cost so much gems of all kinds. The ammount of work into them to make them beautiful is astoundingly awesome. WOW! So cool! Great job...
To me these are the most beautiful stones that God created! That high quality color is mesmerizing! Thank you for showing us how these lovelies make their debut!
Really, Amazing. I don't have to experience about Tanzanite, we are doing sapphire heatings in City of gem Ratnapura Sri Lanka. So, This is really clear and amazing VIDEO TO KNOW ABOUT BASICALLY PROCESS.
I must be a bit strange but I much prefer the untreated stone. Id have to say that it has become one of my favorite colors. That beautiful carmel with flashes of purple. Wow. God made some amazing things and Jesus is the best of all amen!! Amazing
seymore glass Your welcome. What you did not see in this video was the time trying to decide what to cut. I looked at this piece for months trying to figure out what to do with it.
@@Moregems Thanks again for your time, and for responding to me. All I can remark is WOW! Because I have "dipped my toe" in the amazing abyss that is facetting I can sincerely express my awe at your skill. Since I have gained your attention I will take the opportunity to request you please do a video about sourcing some of the wonderful gems and how you have built up a (presumably) trustworthy and economical network to acquire stones for processing?
I really love the way you presented the process. One day I'll graduate from cabbing to facet level. I liked the way the stone looked before it was heated better. Anyway, great work... thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! You'll get there! If there was a larger market for unheated tanzanite, we would have kept it natural, it was a pretty stone unheated, too! We'll be posting a longer video with Steve discussing the process he went through when identifying the inclusions and how he worked around issues with this particular crystal... Stay tuned!
MoreGems.com You have to deliver what the market wants. Collectors are interested in unheated Tanzanite in fancy colors (pinks, greens) but consumers looking to make/get jewelerly made will typically only go for the famous violet-blue.

The tanzanite before it's exposed to heat is beautiful. I had no idea that it naturally has a yellow hew to it. Just beautiful.
Watching the transformation from the rough, peachy brown tanzanite crystal to its final product of two brilliant violet blue faceted stones was awe inspiring!
Brenna Pakes Thanks Brenna it was good to talk to you today!
Respect for the cutter, what a masterpiece!!
Every time I watch this and you take the stone out of the jar it takes my breath away. Such a treat to see!
Oh men ! I wish i could learn this art ! I'm fascinated by the lapidary work, and the whole business of gems !

Wonderful watching this art form. Cutting a stone takes great talent and skill.
I like the pre heated color

Rubies always the best of gems pure honey colored I love rubies best of the 9 different gems
is it berylium powder that you used ? or something else ?
My favorite is the blue star safire
Нет ничего прекраснее оригинала, цвета от природы! В нем столько оттенков, столько радости, а в уже гретом нет этого совсем!
That golden Brown color looked good also. I knew tanzanite was heated but I didn't know it was Brown like that.
I had no idea tanzanite had to be heated to turn purple. Very interesting!
Trevor Hardwick Not all tanzanite has to be heated. Some are naturally deep in color.

Very artistic! Very interesting and informative material. Work for veterans of life.
Love your work, I don't know how you can spend many hours perfecting a stone and know your done.
I study Tanzanite for years, as well as Diamonds. My favorite stones, with Ruby of course.
Wow...that was amazing. I seriously thought it was beautiful prior to heating it. The colors were so pretty too. You really do quality work.
Right, I liked the subtle blue undertones. I'm thinking in different lighting it would be dichromatic.
What a transformation. I liked the pre heated colour but I liked it even more after the treatment. Stunning blue violet colour 👍

Great faceting! I can't help but agree with many people here about the greater beauty and magnificent pleochroism of the unheated gems though...
Wow, after the heating it was so much nicer!
Wow! What a beautiful stones it is!
No doubt they are beautiful as blue, but I do prefer them as cola coloured. More range of colours. More character
