    In this beginner-friendly tutorial, I show how to sew crochet hexagons together into a blanket. Hexagons can seem tricky to join due to the angles, but by sewing them with a simple whipstitch and by sewing them into strips they are much easier to join than you might think! In this tutorial I use the daisy hexagons from my Hexadaisy Blanket pattern, but this method should work for most crocheted hexagons.
    The hexagons featured in this tutorial are from my Hexadaisy Blanket pattern that is now available in both UK and US terms here:

      @meemamakes I got them from joann, I got 3 different Red Heart and 1 Caron simply soft boxes each were $24.99 USD. I got mostly unforgettable yarn (which I hate btw) but I got a couple of colors I can use 1 is a pale yellow I can use for the daisy part, how many colors besides the daisy and the border? I'm sorry I forgot and I hate reading lol I'll be joining in the CAL but a little late

    Wow...such clear instructions and such a clear visual...thank you! I've never sewn any squares or hexagons together, always crocheted them together because I never felt comfortable doing whip stitch, and never seemed to get clarity watching other tutorials. Once again, thank you...your tutorial has given me the go ahead to give whip stitch joining a go.

    Hi, thanks for your tutorial. I am almost at the end of crocheting the hexagon daisy.
    Do you have a tutorial for the border?

    • @meemamakes
      @meemamakes  2 месяца назад

      Unfortunately not right now. It is in the written pattern but as I went back to add these tutorials for the crochet along I didn’t make the border tutorial at the time as it wasn’t requested in the Facebook group. It is now on my to do list but I’ll need to make some more hexadaisies so I can demonstrate it so it will be some time.
      The border is essentially:
      1 round of single crochet
      1 round of double crochet with increases and decreases along the zigzag edges
      1 round of a picot border similar to this: instagram.com/reel/CsHHNFjrU7w/?igsh=djEzcHhsOWlkazJj

    I’m getting ready for this step (just a few half hexagons to go), but I’m wondering, did you block your hexagons to get nice sharp corners, or does that work itself out once they’re stitched together? Blocking is not my thing, but I feel like mine might need it…

    • @tatiana4194
      @tatiana4194 8 месяцев назад

      I’m just about to sew mine together as well! She said in the live that she didn’t block hers beforehand and that they just sort of flattened out once they were all seamed. Some of mine look like they might need blocking too but I think I’ll just give seaming a go and see how they turn out.

    Can I ask if you have a guide to make this in a queen size 86x86? I was going to just double the pattern but it would be a large rectangle rather than a square. At this point I am just making loads of hexadaisies. Thank you - this is an gorgeous pattern (I purchased on Etsy)

    Is there a way to make this hexagon without the Daisy? I want to make a blanket with some regular hexagons and some with daisies. Thank you!

    • @meemamakes
      @meemamakes  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes there is but I don’t have a tutorial for it (yet). Start with 6 groups of 2dc and 6 ch2 corners on round 1. Then follow the instructions for round 5 onwards (the stitch count will be different but it’s the same amount of increases) and that should make a solid hexagon for you.

    So just a quick question... when I'm making the half hexagon it has only 12 stitches after the corner white outline but the normal hexagon has 13 on all sides. So how do they join together?

    • @meemamakes
      @meemamakes  4 месяца назад +1

      If you look in the pattern or the video tutorial for the half hexagon I show you that the centre stitch for the half hexagons is not in the same place as the full hexagons and I show where to put a stitch marker to mark the corner st. It is one stitch over to give 13 st on the sides. I'll pop a link to part of the video here: ruclips.net/video/i6rsFhRK-gs/видео.html

    • @meemamakes

      There aren’t video tutorials specifically for the hexagons. It is a written pattern with photo tutorial. There are video tutorials that go through techniques you might not be familiar with and these are linked in the pattern notes section at the beginning of the pattern and also throughout the pattern. I’m always happy to help if you have any questions or issues.

      @meemamakes  Год назад +2

      @@magicalmindtransformation3474 as this is a paid for pattern this won’t be uploaded as a free video tutorial, if I do make a tutorial for it at all. I’m trying to establish myself as a crochet designer so that means written patterns. I have had several people who have never read a pattern before be able to follow this pattern and make their hexagons. I wrote it specifically for beginners to introduce them to written patterns, with photos and step by step instructions. Let me know if you want me to send you a screenshot of part of the pattern to see if it’s something you’re interested in and able to follow 🙂 always happy to help beginners learn new skills like pattern reading

    Where do the tail ends go?? The right side , left side? Top? Bottom??? Im so confused and i’ve tried this like 3 times. 😅😭😩

    • @meemamakes
      @meemamakes  5 месяцев назад

      To weave the tails in either sew them back and forth on the reverse side of the single crochet of round 8 or if it’s an end at the edge of the blanket then weave them into the border once you’ve finished it.
