    I wish i could figure out how to start with "3" then do "2" and so on. This video is very easy to follow but I can't do the reverse in my head. Trying to do theze as a temperature blanket and your CJAYG method looks the best of any I've found.

    I am currently working on a temperature blanket and am planning on using this method to connect the circles (which will end up as hexagons). I plan on having it read left to right, top to bottom, but I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around how to connect them in the correct order. 😬
    I want to use this method because I don't really care for the ribs(?) that come from connecting the completed hexagons with a slip stitch or something of the like.

    How fiendishly clever is this?! Thank you so much, Vicki for making this video.
    I've now continuously joined about 60 hexagons of my blanket but always come a cropper when coming back on the return - on the 2nd row (about 20'40" on the video). My hexagon side count is 9 - so I do 9 x DC down the 'valley' - then 2 x DC into the corner (giving a side count of 11 now on the RH side), SS into the bottom, single DC into the opposite hexagon. But when I then join the 2nd hex to the firstI am faced with joining a side of 9 to a side of 11. I've watched the video so many times I've almost worn it out - but I can't work out HOW you make the two sides match up. What am I missing?
    I've managed to fudge it so it looks passable - but I'd just LOVE to understand how you manage this

    I don't see how you get a symmetrical corner when the point of the orange hexi is joined to the valley of the two green hexis.The point of the orange hexi needs 3 dc's. Those 3 dc's need to connect to 2 green hexis. How do you get a symmetrical corner if one of the 3 dc's connect to one green hex and the other two dc's connect to the other green hexi?

    Hello, kinda like other posts, I have 136 hexies I want to join using this method. I'm new at this, too. Can you show where in the blanket you are starting? Is it in the bottom corner and moving in a serpentine pattern or in the center and spiraling out? I've looked at the posts you’ve linked to the other commenters, and I might just be too much of a nube to parse it out. If it is serpentine, is it across the short way or the long way? Thanks!!! I wish i could send you my photos!

      Hi, Right, so you work in rows (or columns). Have a look at this post - www.offthehookforyou.co.uk/the-hexirainbow-blanket/ near to the bottom ont his, there is a diagram showing the colours I used. I started to join at the bottom left - 1 - completed to Row 6, then came back down attaching the next row from the top down (The numbers make sense - being joined sequential until the middle!). There is a photo with 3 rows in it that might help....... maybe I need a new video on this 🙂

      Yes - same concept - just SC, where I've HDC'd and a chain 1 at the beginning

  • @lauraknobel-piehl5431

    Can you do this when the stitches are clusters? (3 dc on a side of a corner, then a cluster of 3 in the middle, then another cluster of 3 beginning the next corner?

    • @offthehookforyou
      @offthehookforyou  3 года назад

      Yes you can! It'll depend on how many stitches you have to start as to how many clusters you need each side. The other thing for hexagons in the corners I'd do a 2DC ch2 2DC - as it's sits nicer (3DC seems too many sts). You can use a combination of this video = for what sides to attach when, and this one - for the DC clusters on a square. ruclips.net/video/1x9i9k2m4F4/видео.html

    thank you so much for this video, i'm still new to learning crochet and you made it so simple to understand and didn't speed though! one question though, would this work the same with single crochet instead of doubles for a bit of a thinner boarder around the hexagons? i feel it should, but would love a 2nd opinion :)

    • @offthehookforyou
      @offthehookforyou  2 года назад +1

      Glad it was helpful, yes of course you can do this with SC, just remember a chain 1 rather than a Ch3 when you start, but apart from thats its exactly the same. Vicki

    If I am joining a total of 7 hexagons with one being in the center of all of them, do I do 3 double crochet in each corner of the first hexagon(the center one) before attaching any of the others - along with doing each of the sides of that hexagon?

    • @offthehookforyou
      @offthehookforyou  3 года назад

      Hi, You'll need to fully crochet round the first hexagon, 2 DC in each crochet, then when back round to the start, you'll be doing the other 5 sides. The only issue with this is that the original "middle hexagon" would only have one outside of the joining colour, the 6 around the outside would have 2 rounds between the joins.

    shoot-I asked this question in your Pinterest post, but I’ll ask it here too. You show a 5-hex diagram on your blog for the direction of the join-as-you-go. What comes next? I have 70 hexagons for a blanket. Are those 5 in the diagram in one corner to start with? Do you have a diagram on where to go next?

    • @offthehookforyou
      @offthehookforyou  2 года назад

      Hi Pam, this post here helps (hopefully) but it is for the 5 hexagons: www.offthehookforyou.co.uk/how-to-join-hexagons-continuously/
      Then if you look at this post, it shows how to join more - you need to look at the pictures - basically keep joining each hexagon on 4 sides, until you get the end you want to stop at, then attach one with 2 sides before coming back down again. www.offthehookforyou.co.uk/the-hexirainbow-blanket/
      Thanks, Vicki

      @@offthehookforyou Oh-I get it now! It doesn’t matter how many hexes you have, just make the starting row the shorter one & keep on till the next row, whether they’re 2 + 3, or 6 + 7, or 20 + 21! Thanks! (Yes-that’s the post I was referring to). OK-here goes nothin!

    this was stressful to watch. I have some rainbow color yarn and was debating on making square or hexagonal motifs. The thing is the hexagons require a lot more sewing and tail ends. I hate weaving in sew tail ends (I usually work my tails in as I'm crocheting with normal stitches). This looked a lot more complicated and would be a lot to keep track of each side of the hexagon if I were to make a blanket. Needless to say though, with this technique, I would only have two tails to work when connecting all the hexagons. I love how solid the hexagons are.

    • @offthehookforyou
      @offthehookforyou  2 года назад

      when you get in a rhythm with it, it's not too bad. You just need to remember how may sides of each hexagon to work. Vicki
