    Peak period Status Quo, simply great rock n' roll, if you don't like this then you should be banned from listening to rock music forever !

    I have loved this song for many years (reminds me of The Who) but I never heard it played on an American radio station. The Status Quo are very underrated here. Yet, to me they are one of the top ten all time best!

    • @alanstrom2221
      @alanstrom2221 7 месяцев назад

      I agree with everything except for them sounding like The Who.
      The older I get I realise that The Who are very patchy and over rated.
      Some of The Who songs are very good, yet a lot of them are not.
      Quadrophenia is a joke of mediocrity and self indulgence.
      QUO are a trillion times better than The Who...........

    Down down deeper and deeper and down, do not know how much further I can go down as down under now
    Great song that is another of Status Quo's songs that stands the test of time. Some songs from the 70's, listening to them nowadays, sound dated but not this and more from Status Quo

    I grew up in Ireland in the 70's when this band started having great success in the UK as well as mainland Europe. When I moved to the states in the late seventies, I was surprised to found out that nobody had really ever heard of them.

      America is an island.....

    • @MikeBlitzMag
      @MikeBlitzMag Год назад +1

      True, and it's worse than that. In the States, they are perceived as only having recorded Pictures Of Matchstick Men (and maybe Ice In The Sun), and then vanishing into thin air. Mention anything from Down Down to the Bula Quo film and at best you will most likely get a blank stare.

    • @alanstrom2221
      @alanstrom2221 7 месяцев назад

      @@MikeBlitzMag
      "Ice in the Sun" reached #70 on the Billboard chart in 1968.
      You still have to sell quite a few units to get to #70.
      Without American radio airplay it was impossible for the American people to be aware of QUO and their music.

    • @MikeBlitzMag
      @MikeBlitzMag 7 месяцев назад

      Which is exactly why such mainstream media outlets as radio began a steady decline in influence around that time. There was far too much going on in music in general to bow the knee to one such source and let it dictate one's taste for them. And that in part is why Status Quo was able to successfully tour the United States in 1974-1975 (headlining over the up and coming Heart) on the strength of their On The Level album. They didn't touch on those 1968 moments at all in that tour, nor did they need to do so. The indie press and word of mouth got the job done.

  • @replica1919
    @replica1919 13 лет назад +7

    We need a modern day Quo with the same look and attitude of the original.................. Then again there is only ONE Status Quo (this line-up anyway) and there'd be no-one to appreciate them, no Heavy Rock clubs, no Bikers pubs No shed-built Chops, 17 yr old 250 L-plate hooligans with long hair and flares, leather jackets and cut-offs. So I guess it's Long live Quo and here's to Happy days! Thanks for the memories all you boys and girls.

      More than any artist in history.
      Even in Australia their 1975 release of "Roll Over Lay Down" the LIVE version, peaked at #2.

    There's something strange goin on in this video, has anyone else spotted it. Francis Rossi's guitar keeps changing?? The video starts with him playing a 'sunburst' telecaster with a rosewood fretboard, which then changes to a green telecaster with a maple fretboard. It then changes back later in the video?

    • @bryemycaz
      @bryemycaz 2 года назад

      That's guitar is not his main Green one, he gave that the Ronseal treatment back in 1970. However, it is his 2nd Green Tele before it got refinished. He still uses that one today for Down Down due to the different tuning. It's now a lighter Green than his old Main one.
