If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times and I'll say it again - Mick Ronson was a criminally under-rated guitar legend!

In my opinion, this is THE perfect rock n roll performance. Everything about it is pure genius. If there was a primer on how to build a rock n roll song - the opening tongue in cheek lead vocals, the gradual layering of instruments and backup vocals, the drum riff leading into the bridge, the scorching guitar solo and the climactic final verse - it's all there in this one song.

More classics songs were produced back then, because you didn't get a look-in unless you had talent! How else can one account for so many classics being produced with less technology & less people producing the finished product?
The composers, musicians, producers & sound technicians simply possessed more individual talent than that of today.
    Quality over quantity.

Ronson was so talented! Saw him twice. Once with Ian on their late 80's tour and he WAS a guitar god and earlier in the 80's when he toured with the "Payolas" a Vancouver band whom he produced their first album for and played keyboard's that night.. They had a big hit in Canada with "Eyes of a Stranger". He was one of the great guitarists, an excellent keyboard player. (Just listen to Lou Reeds "Perfect day"). He did the string arrangement on that album too. An amazing talent and a lovely down to earth guy. He should be up there with Page, Townsend, Clapton, Beck, Lifeson etc!

Great song. Chuck Berry style song by Ian Hunter, updated to seventies rock...wonderful.
