Yeah except for one detail... Why this game? Medium rated by most (70% , PLAYERS on Metacritic 64%), lots of players found it to be "light" in content and a bit clunky.. But "worst than most"? Actually, better than most, so why? The complaint among negative reviews? Like here, "bad controls". Most times I've seen that in a review, it translated into "don't understand/don't have the time/can't be bothered" which is a COMMON theme on worst games ever. They don't want to play the game in the first place so...?
@@jbarnhart2653 You are taking this far too serious. The show is only supposed to mock mediocre to downright awful games, even tho the mediocre entries might not be as bad as the likes of "Ride to Hell: Retribution" or "Miami Vice (PS2), etc. Actually, its just an excuse tp talk about games that would get no mentions anywhere whatsoever, and thats the case with Lair. Even tho TJ actually does a journalistic job bringing up data and info about reviews/critics/dev info/trivia, they never implied any pretention to prove themselves as hardcore/technical gamers. Its actually the opposite: That's brought up on several ocasions that they (especially Ben and Ashton) actually play some entries on easy. And from a POV of someone playing games daily as a job, its actually reasonable that they keep it on a casual level instead of try-harding games few people care about.

I only ever get the MBMBaM references Ben makes. But they're so subtle and spread out that most people probably don't realize that they are references at all.
I played this game, after the first few levels you have to do a stealth mission. Imagine using the sixaxis controls in a mission where you to avoid huge headlights, because when one of them catches you, you had to restart.
Worst part about this game is that they've patched the horrid Sixaxis controls out, but you still can't play it with a PS2 controller because they forgot to assign a button to one single action needed to complete the tutorial. Yes, you can use a PS2 controller on a PS3 with any cheapo USB adapter. Don't ask.
This game as a concept seems cool, and would be something I could get into if it were much, MUCH better executed. Flying over a stronghold, blowing shit up and then landing on a dragon to kill battalions of armored knights. It just really blows in its execution. I like the criticism Peter brings up on some of these games, that it feels like the devs had the things they wanted, and got them done but didn't actually do them justice.
I remember enjoying Lair up until the level with the spotlights. Edit: I also played it before they patched in the analogue stick controls so I had no choice but to use the sixaxis
I remember my Dad wanted this game in the early PS3 days, bought it for him and it resulted in me playing the whole thing for him. Dragon games have not been doing so well. Look at Eragon and Scalebound.
@@ffffdsd He was a video gamer from when I was a baby and to that timeframe (Not so much in recent years). So while I get the idea, it wouldn't fit with him. It was just that the game didn't interest him.
I remember seeing this and liking the concept. I have always wanted to ride a gosh darn dragon, just like every other person who has ever seen a dragon. I was interested in the title but never got it since we didn’t have a PS3, I guess I should be thankful
I remember being excited by the gimmick, and then playing for 10 minutes until it got old. It just goes to show, we were very easily impressed by motion control in the 2000s.
@@Lewis1995 yup Although I'm kidding about it being ahead of its time, it does look a bit like these horrible games: Spear of Destiny Sword of Fortress Samael the Legacy of Ophiuchus Shadow the Ronin
I don't know if it's a 10/10 (the highest score), but the score really does sound nice. I also agree with the lads that the dragon has been extremely well animated, plenty of contemporary games did creature animation like this a lot worse, I feel. The technical performance is absolute garbage, though. I'd be curious to know if advances in emulation etc. could make the game run any better than this.
And if y'all think THESE wait times are bad, holy shit, you GOTTA try playing Shadow of Mordor on 360.. navigating the menus in game was no less than ~30 seconds or more any time you pressed "Start". It was so bad that I legitimately only played it for like an hour total. Hehehe
Anyone else get the feeling this game took alot of inspiration from what Scalebound was supposed to be?....🤔 Or is it the other way around? It's been so long i can't exactly remember right now.😅👍
This episode came together, BEAUTIFULLY.
I give it 9/9, the HIGHEST score, possible.
I'm sure the guys would prefer 6/9.

Fucking Andre, they're so cool bc they play games no one knows, instead of playing games no one knows.

I actually loved the concept for Lair. I almost wish someone would pick it back up and retry it on newer hardware.
Soundtrack *was* good though.
As a Australian im very offended, we are NOT backwards!!!
We're upside down, we walk on roofs and drink from our bot-bots
Am Australian, can confirm
I’m not Australian but confirm that too
Every time I remember to look at the subs count (almost every day), it’s increased by about 100. Slowly but surely bois; keep it up!
Personally I don't like how RUclips only displays a channel's sub count to the third digit now.
Tell your friends!

I always love how when you make references you show the clip but most of the time i still have no idea what you're talking about.
Same i get about 1 in 5 references

Those pre-rendered face models still hold up, that’s pretty amazing.
i'm going to use " choking the air with my discharge" to describe when i fart from now on.
When it was released you could only play with motion controls, there was a patch released later letting you use the sticks for control.
Peter Austin: *Messes up word*
Peter Austin: "And also, trans rights."
If I recall, Simon Miller has a history with Lair.
As the Offspring song goes: you’re Pretty Fly, for a White Guy.
Ben, remember, your wings are beautiful
You can tell it's a launch title because it uses sixaxis for everything.
Ben looks like Morrigan from darkstalkers with those head-wings.
This video may well be the most powerful experience that a man (OR WOMAN) can share with his (OR HER) $5,000 home theatre system
“Handcuffs? Kinky. Hey hey.”
Have you boys been reading my fanfic again?
Ohh spicy
I remember being so excited for this game to come out. They fed me the hype and I ate it like the fat piece of crap that I am.
If I remember they added a patch so you can use the sticks I believe
Ben was so quick with that edragulate joke. That was really impressive😂
He's been waiting since 2007 to use that joke.
This video makes it into the best of Worst Games Ever list, for sure. One of the most hilarious episodes in ages. Great stuff boys! 😂

Ah, shite, I commented before watching. Apparently, the same thing happens to PS4 controllers.
Ben, you flap your dragon wings so elegantly. Remember, your flaps are beautiful
You leaving the table to go get a PS3 controller was extremely entertaining.
23:36 Love using a literal dragon as just cavalry
Press F to pay respects to Ben's dignity.

1st time watching the channel, clicked to see if this was that game I recalled.
Not ashmed to say stayed for how hot Ben is.

Lair......I hardly know her.
That's what Caim said at first about Angelus.
The only redeeming quality of this game is the soundtrack being similar to my favourite duel in Star Wars
WOAH!!!
Was NOT expecting Bob Katter.
I thought only Ozzys would know about that peanut.
Come a little bit closer to my dragon, son.

Nominate that Tiny Peter has badly drawn glasses on his 'game's victim' photo.

I hope somewhere, Billy ARRR Walrus (Pirate walrus) survived the moves and is happy with one of the vidiots.

Got my greeting card with small tat inside ready and waiting to post!
I remember getting really excited by this, and then when it was an entirely different game when they released it lol
Has anyone ever told the boyz that you can sync a ps4 controller to a ps3 through bluetooth?
i think every time they mentioned it in a ps3 video, people in the comments did tell them, i don't know if they ever saw said comments though.
ben got his red wing today LMAO
Bob Katter on triple jump. Mind blown.
