  • Aunt B and Uncle B visit Dominical, Costa Rica and enjoy gorgeous, colorful sunsets, sunrises, stay in an eco-retreat, eat lots of yummy organic vegan food, and do yoga. This video is our way of sharing some of that with our family, as well as like-minded folks who are curious about Dominical (Our advice: Go! You will love it!!!)... We did not mention prices much because we visited during Covid and prices were lower than normal, but those low rates are bound to continue for a while... Just do some online searches with the places we mention, and you will not be disappointed.

Oh my God, I was thinking it would be cool to take my wife of 34 years back to Dominical where we had such a incredible time after our marriage in 1988. Well after watching this my heart sunk. Talk about paradise lost! There was only one hotel at the time, it was on the point of Dominical overlooking the point break. No shops, bars, or smoothie shops. The beach break at Dominical was deserted! I will keep my memories of a paradise, and let the tourists enjoy all the amenities and crowds. 😣

It's not very built up. Nosara is getting overbuilt though, in my opinion. It is sad to see pristine nature attacked by bulldozers. Dominical and many other areas are less developed because the roads are so difficult to drive on and they can't get the big equipment in there. Let's hope and pray that they don't fix the roads... Or that they set some strict standards to keep this wonderful place intact.

I visited Dominical in the fall of 2019 with my son. We loved it so much we ended up entering into a contract to purchase a property up in the jungle above Dominicalito beach and closed a couple months later. It's a cool place.

how trustworthy are the organic produce in CR ? i mean, in the US anything can be easily be USDA organic, but it does not really mean it's organic, so how is it in CR ? do the organic producers really stand by the term organic there ?

There are standards in the US that farmers must meet to get the USDA certification. They aren't as strict as many of us would like, but organic produce is still FAR better than conventional produce that is mostly GMO and absolutely coated with pesticides and herbicides that are banned in the EU and other places. As for Costa Rica, it is mostly the local people who care very much about the environment and their health and preserving nature who drive their organic labeling. They also have pretty good government standards. It's sad to see US companies like Dole come in there and use tons of chemicals on giant mono crop fields of pineapple and hire their locals to swim around in it all day and die of cancer. Costa Ricans are definitely more environmentally friendly in the way that they farm, especially compared to the average US farmers (who work for corporations that demand use of chemicals)... Let's keep this discussion going wherever anyone will listen. Change only happens when we the people demand it.
