Late to the party, but this is the best thing I have ever seen. I am moving to tropical Far North Australia to an old mangosteen farm and need some inspiration for a food forest. Got it and then some (my plant list has exploded and my knowledge too). Thank you so much for putting in the time and effort for these videos...though I'm sure you enjoyed yourselves at least a little too!
This looks really interesting. Looking forward to seeing more!

Thank you Yosef! I really appreciate the kind words.
Beautiful
The most crisp and dreamy filming. Really makes you want to make the move. I will :) I was in the area from Dominical and north from there last time. The next trip will be to go explore further south in Corcovado and more southeast wich I've been dreaming about since I was a kid. I want to do a fruit orchard with lots of Durian and other awesome stuff. I've watched all your other vids about CR as well. Great job guys!
I’m super-excited to see what’s coming up! The footage reminds me a lot of where I am moving to here in Liberia. One difference is probably the altitude, but what’s growing is very similar. One tree I’m considering introducing and having as part of my food forest is the peach palm. The nuts look similar to the oil palm we have here, but from what I understand they are significantly different. Thanks for taking us along on the trip!
Great video Pete! Keep up the fantastic work my man! It''s worth it! I can't wait to be able to move to Costa Rica. That place is magic!
dylnthmsn thank you! I'm starting a community my friend. Big things coming 👊

calendula fields nursery thank you! This series is gonna be something else... Melissa can't edit fast enough 😬
The climate in the Caribbean side is actually very similar to Borneo.
Poor Melissa. I'm sure it is stacks of work!!! 🙏 It is well appreciated! ♥️ Does your family have the travel bug too? I hear it is contagious, and can be very hard to get rid of! 😉 ... I had it once - I thought I was cured - But these videos are not helping! ha ha ha 😊🌱👊 Grow on!

niki k I was mind blown! I still can't believe it took me this long to leave the country.
PERFECTO!!!!! THIS series is saving me so much research for our move! I knew of a few of these places from endless, ongoing research - but you just put it in a beautiful tidy package with a scrumptious green bow on top!
If your stats show some odd pause n go, replay stuff - it's likely me going place by place looking for their web pages and more info.

Eden Homestead thank you sir! Melissa doesn't mess around with editing, she really is a perfectionist. We just transitioned to Final Cut Pro for editing, it's a game changer. I have big plans for Costa Rica in the future, I'm currently looking at a few properties. I'd like to develop a community/education center and run fruit hunts around the country.
Couldn't be in a more perfect place for that to happen than Costa Rica. I'll be watching ;)
used to love heart of palm from costco...sure fresh is indeed better....nice annona...LOVE the wildlife---Paradise is right---what a trip !
Jeff I'm still day dreaming about being in Costa Rica! I can see big things happening here in the next few years with the Dream team.

Beautifully done! I heard you say mangosteen ... my most favorite fruit in the world! Hope you talk a little more about them in a video.
Joey Oaks mine too! There weren't any fruits ripe but we definitely touch on them with Peter Kring.
Great production quality

Awesome vid 🤙🏽
808touge thank you! 👊
nice footage
neil ellis thanks!
I hope that besides all the beautiful 'glamour' that you also included some of the flip sides in your upcoming footage, especially the impact of an obviously changing climate in CR.
Greetings from the poor man's Costa Rica called Paraguay.
Doug Fruitarky this trip did not highlight any negative aspects in Costa Rica. I only became aware of some issues towards the end of my trip and will be back again. I'm all about keeping it real and honest and will make a video next trip discussing the imperfections and negative impacts on the ecosystem. Thanks for pointing this out.
Nice Pete, I really like the area. The video ended so quickly. Make it longer next time please. The place is awesome.
G. Nash longer videos are coming, I promise!
Gotta share this one!
What's Ripening? Do work!
hey pete, i wanted to let you know that there are many varieties of edible hibiscus, ive got about 6 here in hawaii, and only one of the varieties flower. so you probably have a different one rather than your climate not being conducive to flowering! check out the leaf shape and color to notice the varietal differences! your videos are awesome by the way! aloha
im sure you've been asked this before but where is the music from? I love it esp at the end, I want it! goes so beautifully with your spectacular video job!
W h a t !? You guys are something else! Is this the the Central American farm tour? You deserve a nomination for the 2018 permapulizer prize! Where did Matt's beard go?
larolimu "The great Costa Rica fruit hunt". Thanks bro👊
No shave November is long gone😂
Pete...I got about 2/3 thru initially...I usually finish these in one setting, but had a very early day the next day...so Just missed that part where you feature the edible hibiscus...Abelmoschus manihot, I believe...it flowers here in Phx...can get frost nipped, but should come back...I love that plant...all parts (at least leaves & flowers) are edible, I believre...I buy it mail order from Annie's in the Oakland area...
Ohh Ohhh, Justin Rhodes got some serious competition.
Watching this after we gor 24 inches of snow in 2 weeks and temps forcast to fall into single digits in a few days in SE Wisconsin literlly wants to make me cry.
I can’t imagine! I wanna cry when it’s 29 degrees in florida
The clarity of this video is fantastic! What camera do you use for filming? I’m looking to start my own permaculture channel in the not-too-distant future and only hope I can aspire to have my videos appear as stunning as this.
Hey Zach! We recently switched from a cannon 80D to a Sony a6500. The main reason was the stabilization and the auto focus on this camera is unreal! My only complaint is the battery life, buy extras.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! Just wonderful. What is the temperature at different times of the year?
Gloria Godfrey climate varies all over the country. In San Jose the high temps were in the 70's with low humidity. Closer to the coast and south they had higher humidity but still comfortable. Almost no one in Costa Rica had air conditioners. It was very comfortable if not cold some evenings. They have two seasons, summer and rainy season. We visited in summer time.
I hope in crowdfarming from Costa Rica, above pineapple, guanabana...
That is a breadfruit tree. The fruit can be cooked and be used as a starch replacement hence the name breadfruit. It's best to deep-fry slices of the fruit like you would a potato wedge, they taste a lot like french fries but better.
No, it's actually a Mayan Breadnut tree...the leaves and fruits look similar to breadfruit but you only eat the seeds
Thank you for the correction on the name of the tree. It still does not change the fact that you can eat the fruit like you would a breadfruit fruit.
👍
Looks just like where I'm from! Maybe you can visit my permaculture site when I'm done Pete!!
Brad Suarez drop me an email when you're ready.
Pete Kanaris GreenDreamsFL That would be epic!! I most certainly will!
Hi Pete, I'm travelling to Orlando This weekend with my family for a few days before we go on a trip to Cancun, Mexico. I was wondering if you could suggest some permaculture/ fruit forests near the area that I can go take a tour of?
Sorry cypress just catching this comment.
I went you coming in cambodia 🇰🇭
One day!
Whow, you've got my attention. Don't go so fast like in the beginning. I had to slow the video down.
Nancy Fahey got it!
Those Mexican sunflower are yellow mine are orange...is there a difference??
Yes, big difference. The yellow variety is the true perennial and created way more biomass.
Whats the music at the end?
Degenerate Life good question. We buy all the music, I'll ask Melissa.
