Make sure all get at least the federal poverty line, but do not lower the amount for those who paid into it by law and earned it.

We the people work for and paid into SSA. The government need to find new way.
If the government would stop putting up the illegals in hotels that run $200 a night for hundreds of them that maybe they could help some of the Americans in this country like tlike the seniors, and the families that the streets get help so that they can have a job and back on their feet never mind giving up all the money to different countries get our own country stronger yet build that wall stop all this nonsense . Your starting base pay is what you have earned that is true but after that raises should be flat pay based on true inflation

I'm sorry user but I'm sure that there are some kind of programs out there in your own community that could help you with your financial situation I know they do exist because I am on SSI income payment and I receive 972.00 per month and I can get rental assistance for the house I live in and other things related to my own personal life situation so I don't understand what you're problem is like but there is certainly community support services in your area that can help with your situation

Not a fan of this proposal if it was a 1255.00 increase yes but universal 1255.00 payments would decrease my payments by 300.00 or better. Definitely a no for me.

You won't get food stamps. The government has to get money from somewhere to make those kind of payments. If they did bring the payment up to $1225 a month and takeaway food stamps, you would only have to wait a year for the poverty level to go up. When that happens, you would be able to receive food stamps again. The poverty level goes up every year, so people below poverty level get food stamps.
We are lucky if.we can eat a meal a day now food prices are so high now

Trump says he will get rid of social security!!!
Throwing everyone into poverty is not the answer. If you drop everyone's payments to that amount, then all utilities should be free; $500 SNAP per month must be included; no more part B or prescription drug premium and rent and mortgage payments must also be free with no medical copays for anything. Then, the allocated amount would become purely disposable income. That would stimulate the economy and keep recipients of food, housing, and health secure.

Changing Social Security to lower payments just so that everyone is on the same level is baloney. Secondly, the way the cost of living is today, it will become more and more impossible to live when you figure in the cost of groceries, housing and other expenses that are already through the roof.

I agree that people should live above the poverty line but my Social Security is a little more and it’s still not enough. If they dropped me below the poverty line I’d be in a lot more trouble than I already am. I have to watch every penny. No this wouldn’t work for me. I have to rely on food from the food bank cause they won’t give me food stamps. And my life depends on Medicare and Cen-Cal.

I’ve thought that low income people all needed to be brought up to federal poverty levels that increase every year which would be more of a “normal” COLA for them
This unfairly rewards the people who paid very little into the system and punishes people who worked and paid into the system for 3-4 -5 DECADES.
