These summary videos are a great complement to the actual tests. It doesn't matter if they are long, since the whole point is for you to be able to elaborate on various aspects of the car. I wouldn't want to buy a new EV without having watched one of these from you. Good work!
These e-trons are a steal right now in the used market. About 10% more than a same year Model 3 with the same mileage. I sold my 2023 Model Y and bought a 2019 E-Tron, absolutely zero regrets. I lose about 100km range, but for 100% city driving, it works for me. It's like V8 TT vs Inline 4.
@@dgyoungs Won't regret it, especially if you like a bit of attention. If you drive a Tesla, no one will ever look at you. People stare at my blue E-Tron at every intersection and kids always go crazy for it.
Björn I see you driving past a bus depot. Could you maybe do a video on the electrification of the public transport in Norway? Would be very interesting to see how that is progressing.
I have this car, and I love it. I agree the software and MMI isn't the best, but I tested the iX also and its software is kinda the same (Not very good or modern). If you want good software you go for Tesla. I also test drove many Teslas, and there you have the plastic feel, low quality, no premium. Very tight handling, but nowhere near Audi or BMW when it comes to quality, ride comfort and quietness. BMW iX and Audi e-tron are so quiet, it is amazing. Boaty feeling: I guess when you have winter tires/drive in Comfort, or really handle it rough. This also depends a lot on what pressure you have in your tires. Dealers often use 2.6, but if you fill it to around 3.2 it is a lot tighter. Also in Dynamic mode it feels quite responsive. Anyway, I dont think you buy a car like this for the tight and responsive handling. You want comfort and premium feel, and luxurious ride comfort/silence. I also thought that the interior of the Audi is much more sporty and nicer than the BMW iX. The iX just feels so filled with jewelry and bling, while the Audi feels more like a sports car in that regard (especially this version with the orange stitching, S-line interior (seats, steering wheel etc)). And I also think the Audi looks WAY cooler on the outside. But all this is preference. The iX was an amazing car as well. Just didnt give me that Wow-feeling. The Audi still makes me smile everytime I go down to the garage and every time I drive it. I just love it.
Audi e-torn is outdated if we compare it to other EV members and you have to accept it. The fact that you like the interior of e-torn doesn’t mean that this car beats EQS, iX, Tesla and many other competitors. If you like Audi interior, then just take some petrol engine Audi because you’ll end up with much less issues with it AND have the same interior. E-tron is outdated, has lower range and performance than its competitors which is the fact. It might be worth buying a facelift version but not the current one.
Yes, an e-tron ist thirsty, yes it is very big, yes it ist not very sporty. But it is the only EV I have ever driven since today I am totaly relaxed after long trips.
I love my Edition One. But here in the USA the range is a challenge because our charging infrastructure is still terrible for non-Tesla EV’s. Thanks for your great work!
"Thinking aloud" videos can be very interesting and useful. And this one is. Maybe closer to 30 minutes rather than approaching 50 is better but I enjoyed this one. As to utility SUVs in the luxury segment I was waiting for you to mention the EQC for comparison, but never mind.
04:40 There is no Audi A4 e-tron. Otherwise I would have that car. 🙂 Also to mention that all Audi Plugin Hybrids (in A3, A6, A7, A8, Q3, Q5, Q7, Q8) are now called "TFSI e". The Diesel Plugin "Q7 e-tron" has been discontinued. Nevertheless, the all electric cars are still called e-tron: "Fat" e-tron, Q4 e-tron, e-tron GT for now. Audi needs to bring way more electric cars.
Instead of coming with more models which seems to be the way to go for legacy auto, maybe Audi should focus on scaling production, so people can actually buy their BEVs. In Denmark there is more than one year wait for Q4 e-tron and we are not talking about Audi selling them in the hndred of thounsands.... Legacy auto just do not have access to batteries like Tesla does sadly.
@@TheDanishSpaceman They don't have as good margins on the EVs so they make as many they have to make in order to not get penalty fee's from the EU CO2 fleet emissions.
I'm really excited about the upcoming updated "fat" etron... Suposed to have like, 375 mi range (600 km I think). plus the confort of the etron, the quietness of the etron, etc. Still one of the King of the road trips.
I watch most videos but the wrap up video is the best which summaries all the positive and negative parts plus your thoughts of other other things and compare against closest other cars. One option is to give a side by pictures of the inside to show the difference of screen and buttons verses less cluttered options.
Super cool with these summary videos! One question. You have a black edition e tron, these ones has the s-line suspension. A few mm lower than standard and sligthly firmer. Im sure you tried it, but is it not weird to call the ride «like a boat» and not try the actual stiffer suspension? In dynamic it lowers and stiffens quite substansially. Feels firm and nice. Agree that it is a bit boaty and sluggish in comfort.
Are you sure the Black Edition model is lower? Adaptive air suspension sport is more dynamic but not lower than the standard air suspension. Even the S is not lower than the normal e-tron 55.
It is obvious that Audi engineers have not figured out how to maximize battery and range, this is something that Audi needs to prioritize in order to capture the EV market in earnest. Everything else about Audi ICE and EV in terms of cabin, exterior looks, usability is way ahead of its competitors. Mercedes seems to cater to the geriatric crowd, Lexus is broadly styled to which car you purchase and the $$ spent on it, BMW is competing with the same folks attracted to Audi . I notice that those who lease/buy an Audi tend to stick with the brand. It is not uncommon in the US to have multiple Audi's in the driveway. TLDR; Audi has everything covered but range, get on it.
@@miami3863 Audi? I wholeheartedly disagree. Audi infotainment system is intuitive and among the best. The tech (I assume you mean drive assist and safety) is excellent. Who among current luxury automakers has better tech?
So....considering that I need room in the back and a "lipless" loading to the trunk is a huge plus (currently have a v90 volvo), which electric car would you go for Björn? Currently I think the options are: Model Y, fat E-tron, EQC400, Q4 E-tron and maaaybe the Ioniq 5... I hate the design of the ID.4 and the Enyaq would be on the list...but it's not available. I have a big doggy so Polestar and EV6 are not options. Occasionally I do need to drive 400-500km / day so...the range on the fat E-tron is slightly worrying
@MultiTroll84 hmm, true. Did not consider that one. just wondering if it is too small for my needs (occasionally I need to carry quite a lot of equipment with me for work)
@MultiTroll84 yeah, i know pretty much no car gives me 500km at any time of the year =). I don't mind charging, just that the fat E-tron would pretty much need 2 charge stops :P
Great video! More of this stuff. I am very happy with my fat etron. As you are saying, the feel and quality is on another level. If you want less of a “boat” feeling ride, you can switch to Dynamic mode and it becomes much stiffer. That’s is what I love about it. You can chose if you want a higher more comfortable ride and when you are alone and want an more sporty feel you can change to dynamic 👍🏼
Compared to fossil cars. I have still not tried a EV that I would call “slow”😊 For everyday life and passing cars, all EV are more than grate enough IMO.
Voice activation works very well, I use it all the time for navigation, AC and telephone and have few/no issues. Rarely use the writing facility except, perhaps, when stopped. I think the fat eTron was designed to convert people from ICE to EV and one pedal driving, might, in my opinion, be an obstacle to that easy acceptance. I rarely use the paddles as the brake regen is better, again, I am coming from ICE and not really interested in one pedal. I still don't recognise your consumption figures, my car does significantly better on economy than you suggest.
You should have tested the e-tron 55 launch edition! fully specced all factory options! the lights on that thing are unreal! yes it is a £94,000 car! but used 2.5 years old and only 30k miles driven it is now £34,000! I sold my EV6 to get it! which seems cheap plastic junk in comparison to the Audi
Nice review... and let me give clarity to the navigation! Yes you can write with your finger, but you can also use the full keyboard to type in your destination. Or you can practice driving safety and say "Hey Audi" and the talk back voice will ask you what's your destination!
